I have one more question, if I may: I believe the default Domination victory is 60%. Does anyone happen to know if this percentage can be customized, and if so, how to change this number?

Thanks again.

If you just want domination off, play custom game and uncheck domination on the right side.

the only way I know of altering it is to change the number of civs during the game, by creating colonies this lowers the domination limit

It may also work if you add extra civs at the start but I haven't tested this

I also don't really see why you would want to change these criteria (and wouldn't recommend altering them in order to preserve game balance), but it is possible:

In ...\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4VictoryInfo.xml (or better in your custom assets copy of this file) look for

<Type>VICTORY_DOMINATION</Type>

and tweak the following 3 xml values to your liking:

<iPopulationPercentLead>25</iPopulationPercentLead>
<iLandPercent>78</iLandPercent>
<iMinLandPercent>51</iMinLandPercent>

iLandPercent gets modified by a subtraction of 2% for each civ alive at the start of a game while it cannot get below iMinLandPercent (so for the 7 civs on a normal sized map 78%-7*2% = 64% is the current/default final threshold).

This is a very nice site...you all respond very quickly over here!

Thank you, Supr49er!

Dan, the information you provided was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Regarding why I want to change these, I have personally found that if I have conquered 50% of the world, I am pretty much unstoppable (at least in the games I play -- I only play custom/random games). And, well, it then gets fairly boring for me at that point. Sure, I could just quit and start a new one, yet, I like the satisfaction of officially being crowned victor :king:.

Thanks for the fast responses everyone!
