To Brothers Dani and Karlz Horonz,
leaders of the enlightened Sidar
I contact you to express my sorrow over the conflict between our peoples. While my predecessor saw you as impulsive aggressors, I can sympathize with your plight. Our nation has felt the fury of the Als’ raids, so we understand that you would fear the Als entering your lands. I hold no grudge against you for the altercation that occurred and I thank you for restraining your soldiers, as we did ours, to prevent the escalation of conflict. In this, you proved King Kedeld wrong and together the prudence of our great nations has avoided a costly war.
However, I wish to inform you that the ‘Hallowed’ you attacked were not soldiers, but slaves of the Als. They have begun to live among us, and have told us that the forests you forced them from (province 7) are their ancestral territory. The Als raided their people to use as slaves, just as they have raided Luchuirp settlements in the past. In entering your lands, the ‘Hallowed’ were fleeing their homeland since the Als had come to enslave their entire nation once and for all. They did not realize they were violating your territorial bounds and were only seeking refuge. We have offered them safety in Luceido, until they have recovered sufficiently to return to their ancestral lands.
Therefore, I wish to make three requests of our neighbors the Sidar. Firstly, that you accept our apologies for any conflict that occurred and that we may return to peaceful relations. Secondly, that you allow the ‘Hallowed’ to resettle their ancestral lands once we have mustered the strength to protect those lands from the Als. In return, the Luchuirp nation will use our soldiers to guarantee that the ‘Hallowed’ do not stray into your territory once again. Finally, we hope to dissuade you against the use of slavery. The terrors wrought against the ‘Hallowed’ as well as our own citizens have shown us the horrors of this practice and we believe that your nation of enlightened individuals must certainly agree that slavery should not be tolerated.
I am confident that this cooperation between our nations will be of great benefit to both our peoples.
King Kejol, 7th Grand Crafter of the Luchuirp People
To the leaders of the Als
As you most likely know, a group of your slaves who refer to themselves as the ‘Hallowed’ escaped from your tyranny over 100 years ago. What you may not be aware of is the fact that these escaped slaves have been forced to flee their ancestral forests of The Hallows (province 7) and are now living in the sanctuary of our capital, Luceido. The newly freed ‘Hallowed’ have told us appalling stories of your oppression and the labor you forced upon them. We seriously hope that your policies have changed since that time.
Even more disturbing was the presence of dwarves among the ‘Hallowed.’ These refugees claimed to not me from the forests of The Hallows, but to be descended from slaves captured from the outskirts of Luceido during the 13th decade of the age of rebirth. While we always questioned the intent of you raids, we are disgusted to learn that you were forcing our citizens into slavery.
However, we realize that your people have had plenty of time to rethink their ways over the past century. As a token of your goodwill, would you be willing to return our captured citizens back to Luceido? In addition, we ask you to revoke your claim of ownership of the ‘Hallowed’ people. They are now full citizens of the Luchuirp nation, and we would appreciate you releasing the rest of their people from bondage. The ‘Hallowed’ will soon be resettling their ancestral lands of The Hallows (province 7) and we would appreciate you not pursuing your former ambitions of subjugating these proud people.
I trust that your generosity will show the whole world that you have reformed your oppressive ways and are ready to thrive and prosper with the other free nations of Erebus.
King Kejol, 7th Grand Crafter of the Luchuirp People
