NOTW XXIII: The War Party. Game Thread.

"There are still those who seem to keep silent rather than speak their part, so let's remove those annoying tendencies, shall we?"

"Didn't ya hear me, Nahkarma? Speak up or die!"

The representative sips from his ale flask again. It is still ice-cold, but to be fair, it has had to stand up to hotter temperatures before.

the simple fact of the matter is, kingmorgan has said nothing. basically nothing. he assures us of his innocence while giving no proof... just token gestures. he sent me a private correspondence demanding that i change my vote while he simultaneously accused me (well, all of his accusers) in the public forum of having an 'evil heart'. do you see why i might not be inclined to trust what little he says?

OOC: wat? xclxcl

OOC: i dunno lol

What's wrong with what I said?

Obviously he would not want to explain all of his actions so far in public, that would be rather stupid as it would be no telling what people would do with that information...

"Well, of course. If you listen good enough to the words of many, you will notice that not everyone has something to contribute except more wishes for peace... surely, even as intoxicated as you might have gotten from whatever you are drinking, you might have heard that?"

The assassin looks around... still seeing Nahkarma nowhere. "An' by the looks of it, most people seem to be right about that servant girl! She hasn't said anything since the first day!"

Most importantly, I notice that ZPV has stepped forward to accept this weapon, while Nictel has not."

"Nonsense. I have asked him myself, and he has graciously accepted it - although with humility the prince did not vote for himself"

The scribe was thinking, why was Nahkarma, the servant of the mediator party so silent? He stood up and spoke: I think that Nahkarma should explain herself.

The scribe said this with pain, as she beloned to the mediator party.

Fine... Nahkarma shall taste the noose. But when he turns up innocent don't forget I warned you Winston Hughes.

"If this vote will not hang Kingmorgan, fine. But this random accusation against Ronin seems intended to force him to vote with the wagon. Bullying seems counterproductive, Winston."

"There are many here who have seen the error of their ways, they have been misled by a false prophet. I forgive all whom voted against peace, i hope you will open your hearts and minds and help sign a lasting peace treaty"

It true that I contacted some ney sayers, not with demands (mediators do not demand, they suggest and request) but to gain a better understanding of your reasoning. The majority of people were polite and willing to listen, they truely have peace firmly on the agenda, sadly one walks among us filled with hate and evil thoughts. Nahkarma although silent has not the evidence against him.

The TheForestAuro on the other hand :dubious:

Evening, Day Two

The sky spat fitful bursts of rain as evening neared. The delegates huddled unhappily in their cloaks and hoods. Few cared to venture much beyond their encampments.

The day had begun with a tragedy, and despite the best efforts of KingMorgan and some others in the early morning, it had looked to continue on that note. To KingMorgan had gone the blame for lack of progress on the peace treaty, and by noon, Renata's Aide seemed the heavy favorite to be joining her in death that evening. But then the Cook Niklas let loose with a rambling invective against the silent servant girl Nahkarma, and as if relieved to have found a more suitable scapegoat, several others rapidly followed suit. By the end of the day, KingMorgan had returned sufficiently to the good graces of the conference attendees that the diplomats were again talking to him, though little was decided other than that fishing rights should probably be discussed next.

Meanwhile, most accepted the idea of presenting Gilden Silveric's unstrung bow and arrows to Prince Nictel of the Svartalfar as a gesture of goodwill.

Finally, though, the dreary day began to darken still further, and the inevitable could no longer be delayed. Flanked once more by mergle and J-man, KingMorgan led the teary-eyed Nahkarma to the edge of the cliff. As had been the case with the Ljosalfar Honor Guard the previous day, none of the three seemed eager to send the girl to her death. This time, it was the condemned herself who broke the impasse.

"I failed," the girl cried. "I'm so sorry!" Before any of the others could react, Nahkarma stepped into the void of her own volition and was gone.

Spoiler :
Nahkarma was for peace.

Back at the camp, few seemed to miss her. KingMorgan arranged for her belongings to be gone through in the morning, then everyone sat down to supper. The meal was comparatively light-hearted for a time, until PaulusIII took a bite of a particular piece of meat, turned blue around the mouth, collapsed face down on his plate, and died.

After that, no one much felt like eating.

Spoiler :
PaulusIII was for peace.

It is now night. Items up for vote (if any) will be revealed in the morning. Posting is closed. Sleep well ...

GM comment: As rhawn has not responded to say he will be participating in the game, RRRaskolnikov will be taking over the role of the City Guard effective immediately. Ras, I'll have your PM to you in a few minutes.

EDIT: Posting is closed, sorry.

For further update posts, I suggest that the bolded lines stating whether posting is open or closed should be at the bottom of the update.

GM comment: Not really cool, Diamondeye. I'm not a fan of editing posts wholesale, even if they were made at the wrong time. No more public comments now, though; posting *is* closed.

(OOC: I'm also going away until Sunday. I may have a chance to check in and post, but that depends on both my girlfriend's mood, and the mobile phone reception in the village we're staying in.)

GM comment: Morning post will be a little delayed, as I can't get my son to  . Poor thing. Won't be more than hour, likely much less.

Morning, Day Three

It rained for most of the night, and most of the tents leaked. Still, the soothing sound of the rain made for a more restful night than the previous, and if anyone were chanting or making any other sort of noise, none could tell.

But the rain did not deter the previous night's assassin. Surprisingly, it was one of the Svartalfar who found Assistant Counsel The Lemon dead in his tent. The camp awoke to the Methos' screams. When members of the Ljosalfar delegation arrived, they found her kneeling at The Lemon's side sobbing, and clutching a letter she had written to give him. One glance at the letter was all it took to prompt the Elohim Representative Izipo to coax Methos gently away from the gory scene -- no one should witness a loved one in such a state.

Spoiler :
The Lemon was for peace.

With Methos gone, LightFang surveyed the scene grimly. "I am no natural diplomat," she said to those assembled, "but it seems I will be forced to learn." The Princess Royal directed the others to go through The Lemon's belongings to see if they could find anything of use. Only one thing was found: a box containing five small glass vials, each filled with an unknown dark liquid. In the light of the previous evening's poisoning, there was some question as to whether such a thing should be offered up for a vote or simply destroyed, but ultimately it was decided to take the risk: perhaps the vials had a legitimate use. Meanwhile, KingMorgan reported that neither Nahkarma nor PaulusIII had proven to own anything of interest.

Unsettled, but determined, the peace conference settled down to work once again.

It is now DAY, and posting is opened. Accusations as usual in bold black, and votes for the vials in bold purple.

Hm... had Paulus been alive, I would have voted him to have the vials: who better to determine thier dangerous potential that an Assassin... but now, in good faith, I cannot vote them to any one else.

Methos, you have my pity.

Brothers and Sisters, just last night a very good man among us died. PaulusIII was poisoned. The foul foul creature that has done this must be made to pay. My daddy used to say “Criminals suck”. And he was right. So which one you all suck?

*The massive gate guard looks disappointed when nobody stands up to confess*

Fine then, we’ll use logicalityness to root out the killer. Everybody front and center! Now, going through your titles and job descriptions, one man seems to jump out at me. And that man is Backwards Logic! Now Mr. herbalist, what sort of herbs do you have in your garden? The poisonous variety perhaps? Lacking any further evidence, I think you should be the one to hang.

Do I think you want war? Not necessarily! Do I want war? Heck no! But the fact remains that some DO want war. And until you explain yourself, you are number one on my list of possible assassins. Once you do so satisfactorily, I will revoke my accusation. I freely admit that I have no hard evidence, other than what you said to all of us the very first night we all arrived. Should anybody step forward with something more concrete, I will gladly jump ship. But until either one of those options happens, my course remains set.
