Hey I'm new! Civ IV is my first Civ game (although I did play Alpha Centauri). I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and I've learned a lot already.

I'm coming back to civilization after being lost in the Sim2 world for a few years. I'm an "OD" who's been playing computer games since the Commodore days. I played the original Civilization and Colonization games but CivIV looks like a whole new world. I look forward to exploring this new universe and bumping in to some of you along the way.

Greetings from Davis, CA, USA. I own Civ 2, Civ 3, Test of Time, Call to Power and SMAC. Lately I've been concentrating on playing Civ 2.

I'm an old time Civ player since 1995, I had a copy of Civ IV that would not run on Vista at all. That was almost 2yrs ago sadly missing this game. I got Civ IV Gold Edition for my birthday, I wanted the full box set, sadly all sold out. :lol:

I'm noticing that many Mods won't work on this gold edition for some reason. I will ask in the support topics about the issues later. Glad to be back playing the game and on one of my favorite Civ websites. :goodjob:

Howzit all!

I'm from South Africa. Not really new to the forum... I've been a lurker/reader for a LONG time... lol

Started playing CivI almost 16 years ago at university, been at it since. Playing CivIII & CivIV atm.

Just wanted to say (at long last!!!) thanx to all the guys & gals making mods, writing stories and creating all the wonderfull downloads on this site!

I would like to know how to add downloaded mods / maps etc into my hard drive.....it ain't easy being a newbie!

Sure! And welcome to CFC!

You just need to put the mod in the correct folder. (If it is a compressed file, you'll need to double click and "extract" it first.)

- If the mod is for regular Civ4: Place the mod in your Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization IV/Mods folder.

- If the mod is for the Warlords expansion: Place the mod in your Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization IV/Warlords/Mods folder.

- If the mod is for the Beyond the Sword expansion: Place the mod in your Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization IV/Beyond the Sword/Mods folder.

Once you've done that, just load up the game as usual, then in the main menu click "Advanced", then "Load a Mod". Have fun! :goodjob:
