ROTQM7: Really?! Okay . . . Thanks for the "Memories"

I don't think Fox attacked the city yet. He's waiting for consensus on whether you take it and keep it along with Aksum or wait til you see what the new city's border reveals.

Just great to have a moderator lurking on an SG!

And, let me be plain and simple with Pholkhero: I did not attack the city, since keeping a city or not for a 3CC is a major decision which I think require team input.

Personally, I agree with Ozzy on keeping it, and our third city shall be the Zara's capitol. It makes the whole thing easier to defend. Although I agree that it isn't that great a city -- there are probably better site.

--

yeesh ~ sorry

heaven forbid a gal...er guy! need a little clarification.

i agree on the capital, but do we think we'll be able to take it soon? i guess we'll have to see what's what, but it would be too bad to have to defend this outpost against zara shuttling dogs from home ~

Nah ... there's nothing to worry about ... this is just Noble. What we can do is build 2 more SD and park them outside Aksum to prevent any worker or settler from going out. Then we can take it as and when we wish (like when we have cats).

My point is: Defensi-bility of that city is definitely not a reason for not taking that city. In fact, it is a reason for taking that city.

The only reason for razing it is because there are bound to be slightly better site for a 3CC.

-

OK I take the city straight away.

The capital has archers, so I park out of range until we get reinforcements there (we need 4-5 to be able to approach safely.

I see the borders of another civ (Ragnar I think ) but don't provoke him yet.

Writing comes in and is replaced by Mathematics (we need catapults quick).

Same turn Stonehenge is built in a close land.

We pop a GM that will bulb Code of Laws, seems a no brainer but I leave him for Immy.

I accidently declare on Huayna

I move the worker down to our second city.

Ragnar moves into view and is declared on as well.

OK, once the next DS is built, we will have 9 turns for Oracle and Maths, we can then bulb Construction adn take down some civs with catapults, we should be able to get rid of Zara, Ragnar and Huayna as it is only noble.

Once we have 5 DSs down at Zara's we should be safe to start pillaging. Whip them out of Gondar mercilessly. When we get catapults, we should look at a barracks in teh capital first.

There is a Viking Galley possibly headed our way (ate our exploring work boat).

I would suggest the GM goes on CoL straight away, we will have copper in our third city so whatever religion needs copper for cathedrals take that if we can.

I still think Zara's capitol is the best bet for our third (close and copper) but Huayna founded a religion so maybe that would be the trick. For me Zara's city.

I see it and will play over the weekend. Every input is appreciated (except the usual pholkherina wittycism :D :p ) .

good turns oz ~ i say bulb CoL as well ~ take buddhism or confucism, both require copper cathedrals.

So, then, if we have our three cities, what's the strategy from here? more religions overall, with wonders going in Cahokia, GPs in Gondar, but what for the new capital??

If we're able to get our three cities, stack at least 5-6 PRO, Totem'ed Longbows in our cities, i think we'll be safe for a good long while.

here's a roster since we haven't had one for a good long while

Pholk > on deck??
GreyFox >
Ozbenno > just played
Imhotep > UP NOW
Ruff_Hi > on deck?

Okay, we're making good progress here. Right now our capital cannot be reached by anyone but Zara and Ragnar, and they are either under control or far away. But we should keep a garrison at home in the near future.

We bulb CoL and found our 3rd religion.

27641256.jpg

The religion gets founded in Gondar of course. Most conveniently the galley still stands there, so I use it to ferry the missionary and the worker back.

The Oracle is BIDL.

The situation at the end of my 10. We have a tight choke on Zara. The downside is he'll build more archers now, against which our dogs suck hard. But the Cats will roll in soon anyway, and then the city is toast.

alright ~ tough luck on the oracle, but the war came first imo.

let's just hope we don't have about 6 or 8 archers to deal with now that we're surrounding the city ~

let's give ruff a chance here and see if he's got the time or inclination ;) :)

I should be able to play tomorrow night. I will know better tomorrow :D.

a semi-go-it?

Playing tonight. Report up tonight too. Here is some reading to keep you occupied until then ...

1) Apparently, Aussies are losing their twang ... this cannot be right! Sometimes I just have to ring an aussie help desk - usually my stupid aussie bank has stuffed something up. Anyway, I just love it when I get to talk to the people on the help desk as they all have these lovely aussie accents - great to hear!!

2) I have a picture when (if?) we pop a great spy.

3) You call that a knife!

Call in the dogs of war!!!

anzac_dog.jpg

This game is set up (somewhat) so we should be good. Lightbulb CoL (Judaism) and I will start the Oracle for ... errr ... for ... Theology ... yeah - that is it! Well, after the current doggie finishes (2 turns).

We have 1 worker at Gondar who can do ...

rotqm70006.jpg

Yeah - that is right. This worker can do absolutely bugger all. Stuff learning maths, I would rather have 'meat on a stick!'.

Research begun: Animal Husbandry (7 Turns)

I also decide to send our doggies into Zara's territory for pillage and other fun stuff. They should be ok.

While defending in Ethiopian territory at Aksum, 2nd Dog Soldier of Cahokia (0.20/4) defeats Ethiopian Axeman (Prob Victory: 67.4%)

Oops - at least he survived! And he got promoted - Combat I. Him and his three buddies took out the copper mine (hehehe) for 15 gold and also the other mine for good measure. They also caught Zara with his pants down and captured a worker - cool. I sent him back to the capital and then realized it was worthless - no wheel tech - so he is still on the boat - not too sure what to actually do with him. I am sure he will come into his own ... one day.

I get our exploring workboat killed - what a waste of time.

The capital begins a library after finishing the doggie - pleaty of time for the Oracle. We need to speed up the tech rate. However, on turn 132 ... 7 turns after I start the game, the Oracle is finished somewhere else - so it wouldn't have mattered if I started the sucker straight off - we would have missed it. I missed the announcement so I Alt-Tab to bring up the log ... and ...

Spoiler :

CTD

That stupid CTD Log game is back. Someone has the wrong color file ... and it isn't me (the game would have opened the log fine if it was). We need to run this game through the fixing procedure that Dresden put together (and find out who broke our game ... and :gripe: and :hammer::ar15::trouble::deal:[pissed]:spank: them mercilessly).

BTW: We have horses near our capital ... and we got a really cool event ...

rotqm70013.jpg

The only problem is that we need to build 7 stables. That might be a little difficult with only 3 cities.
