Also perhaps limiting the amount of gods to five? It's nice to see that people want to interact mid-game but at this point I find them more of an annoyance really. Especially when they disrupt the strategy and ideas of the other gods.
Montezuma sat on his throne of gold, ornamented with the skulls of long dead Englishmen and Sumerians. Victoria's and Gilgamesh's skulls resting beneath his palms.
Who would do this? Was it Nihli, for abandoning the path of war to pursue nation and spiritual building? Was it Lowkey again? No.
Thousands of souls would need relocating, if they did not die first, it would cost the state in upwards of a couple dozen million units of gold per year just to keep the cities and its survivors alive.
How could the jungle just move like that? it obliterated everything for hundreds of miles. The god of luck is a enemy of the state, along with Perpentach. Arrest warrants are posted at every corner of the realm - alot of good that will do, yet the people demand justice on the gods.
Justice, Montezuma asked the very same thing to Johnathon the day he brought him the news. It had taken a week for the escort to arrive to the palace, yet this was the day the Aztec people's luck would change, the day his descendants would look at awe upon Montezuma. The day the tree died.
"Shaman, how...'nice' to see you again," Montezuma was done playing the politician, he let his bitter and rageful self out, if people think him mad, so be it.
"Please my lord, why have your soldiers brought me here by force, i was in the middle of a prayer to the tree, he needs our devotion now more then ever!" The shaman was pitiful, still protecting his forests and loveless god.
"Yes, do you like my new soldiers, freshest forged iron from the new mines, our people almost forgot how to make it, the wood from the forest tends to distract the mind from metal and technology, wouldn't you say so?" Montezuma could have laughed, Tracnar was gone, and so too his punishments, the age of metal will rule Aztecia from this point on! That small golden buzz in the back of his mind was bugging him again, incessant. "How could the tree spirit just let his jungles overrun the land and kill thousands of Aztec lives, lives that prayed for the trees strength and vigor?" The heart of the matter was at hand.
"Please my wise lord, the tree was not to play in this, he did not have the strength to overcome the other powers the ---"
"ENOUGH OF YOUR LIES!" Montezuma took three steps forward and a knife was in his hands, at the throat of the shaman. "Tell me why i should not slit your throat right now." His voice was a hiss.
"Please! Please Montezuma, i have always been your trusted advisor! The trees are all around! protecting their chosen people! Do not stray Montezuma, DO NOT STRAY!" The shaman was near histerical, Montezuma turned and sat back on his throne.
"You are right, the trees are all around, Johnathon, tell the workers to fix that problem," Montezuma said with a grin, "As for you, you shall not receive the mercy of dying with your beloved trees."
"You spare me my lord?"
"Not quite," Montezuma's wicked grin was enough to cause the Shaman to feint in fright.
"The sea is wicked my lord, please have mercy on me!" Groveling at Montezuma's feet, the shaman was experiencing the last few moments of his life. The ruler of the Aztecs looked out over the north sea. Montezuma lifted the shaman to his feet looked him in the eye and pushed him over the edge of a cliff.
"Well would you look at that Johnathon, wood does not in fact float." Montezuma walked briskly back to his horse, his cloak flapping in the breeze.
"That was ill done my lord, you could have been merciful, the tree has always been our friend, we could have done it more justice then that."
"I was performing justice Johnathon, justice for the people who died in Sumer."
"Are you sure you are not confusing Justice, for vengeance?"
Montezuma backhanded Johnathon, he flew into the snow of the tundra. "DO NOT THINK TO CORRECT ME MY SERVANT," Johnathon looked up at the rage and hate twisted face of Montezuma, and for the first time in his life, he hated what he saw. "Get up Johnathon, I have a mission for you...."

-Excerpt from the Encyclopedia Aztecia..c.2009-
The Age of Metal was Aztecia's response to the climatic change of north western Sumer, pronounced as the work of the gods, however unlikely that was, the effect was apparent.
The cultivation of the sacred sites, along with mass forest clearing for progress across the land cleared the way for the Aztecs to recover from the loss of land.
While the other nations were at war,
The Aztec people were at peace, staying out of world politics while it expanded and rebuilt new infrastructure, along with massive amounts of riflemen and a fleet in upwards of 25 battalions of galleons.
In this time the mysterious 'lizard' city was finally captured by the guards of Chotec gate, most, if not all of the citizens were put to the knife, and the city and its surrounding lands were filled with people, land cultivated and populated.
The consequences of these actions felt years later, the leader at the time, claimed by an immortal by some, announced it as punishment from the gods, but due to many factors the Aztecs went on to become the world's leadi-----
------------------------------
"Thank the gods, i had no intentions of following that fat god's will, giants animals, how quaint."
"On to more important matters, Many people are claiming that my actions are signs of me listening to Nihli again, let us show them that is not the case, i listen to a new god, one that reflects my...moods"
"His Sacrifice will make it clear that i am not reverting back to the ways of old, it shall spark a golden age, and we need it, the economy is a wreck, dont you agree Johnathon?"
"Yes my lord, What about Isabella?"
"Ah yes, this Pope for life deal, well, i doubt anyone will win, lets give our measly one vote to our favorite queen, how else will we convince that b*tch to trade us her silk."
The meeting over, Montezuma left to go to the newly erected temple within the palace, a shrine depicting the Hindu gods, the gods that caused Montezuma so much trouble. The Seven sided room each had a wall devoted for a statue of a god, Perpentach, Nihli, Phaleap, Aquarius, Luck, The tree, and Lowkey. Most of the shrines were empty, the tree still managed to claim the most support, followed by Aquarius and Nihli. The people of the Capitol were admitted access, but Montezuma needed to be alone today, he had prayers for his new god. Montezuma knelt down in front of a strange hated figure, bells at the end, a discolored face, and colorful robes.
"Guide me, Perpentach, i have abandoned the tree to its doom, and erected machinery on the its shrines....I need you, my guards are already out looking for you. The truth shall be known to the people soon enough."
-----------------------------------
"Our empire has expanded,"
"Progress has been made,"
"My lord has charged me with the command of the army and fleet, where shall we take it." Johnathon looked out over the war council, made up of The king, himself, the Lords of the realm and generals of the armies. The started to talk at once.
"JAPAN AND AMERICA ARE WEAK AND DEFENSELESS, CLEAR THEM OUT!"
"SHAKA IS A MADMAN, WE MUST KILL HIM FIRST!"
"THAT GODS LOVING B*TCH NEEDS TO DIE!"
"CHINA IS OUR BIGGEST THREAT!"
"Gentlemen, gentlemen please, lets be civil, out people need to expand, where we go, only the gods know." Johnathon said quietly to the crowd.
Montezuma picked up his head and stared at Johnathon disbelivingly, "If only you know what you have just done." Montezuma shuddered, he would get no sleep tonight, the gods would see to that.
In front of him lay maps and troop deployments, where the gods would want to send his grand army, Only Montezuma would have a say in that.

On a side note, i am curious how Winston will handle this...the fort in treeland is under korean control so...im not sure if he is going to have his story follow a fade, or if he will punish me for killin his trees.
Atop the mountain near the new jungle plains, Gluton let loose a belly laugh. That was just entertaining. Seems like the humans of Aztecia had gone and destroyed against nearly everything planned by the gods. Oh well, as long as there were still fat people and Ny was still populated by someone, Gluton was fine with whatever happened.
Those plains did look like a good place to farm though.
Lowkey scowled. He had caused some serious misunderstanding between Monty and another god. However, he has lost supporters.
He looked over Jungland and laughed: Monty is in trouble but he didn't comply. He will suffer.
"Oh Montezuma, I have let you taste possible fruits of working with me, but you refused.
Prepare to be destroyed."
Spoiler:
Give all other nations 1 Greatspy (or if that is too bad, 2 spies) in Monty land.
Take any and all Oil, Uranium and Alunimum out.
Give all the Jungle Cities 1 fallout.
To be honest, I think it because his changes would be rather extreme. Completely unnecessary violence.
Okay, time to write my own thing!
SpoilerChanges, only for CCRunner :
SpoilerSeriously! :
Key: Brown: Grassland with Corn/Wheat (try to distribute evenly) farms Purple: Grassland hill with Gems mines Black: Plains hill with Coal or Iron (2 of each total) mines Red: Grassland with road Slate Blue (filled): Grassland hill Uranium mine, with sign: "Shrine of Entropy"
All of the tiles will have the jungle removed.
The cities will each be increased five sizes. Other Aztec cities will have their size increased by one. The four cities in Sumeria will have Confucianism removed and Judaism instead.
In Treeland, close to the home of Tree (1 tile off):
Create "Shrine of Greed", a fort with road and gold/plainshill underneath.
In Spain, outside any BFC and as close to Madrid as possible:
Create "Shrine of Heresy", a fort with road and incense/deserthill underneath.
close to the ruins that Nihil left on the Aztec continents in the first intervention, outside current Aztec reach (has to settle a new city):
Create "Shrine of Defiance", a fort with road and aluminium/deserthill underneath.
Text to be pasted into reply (make sure to underline that those are my changes.
Spoilertext :
The Jester heeded Montezumas call and returned to Aztecia. It seemed as if the clown-like god had answered Montezumas calls. He was draped finer than the last time the Aztec king had seen him, his clothes half bleak, cloud-white, and half crimson, the colour of blood. The bells in his clothes were pure silver and rang with a beautiful sound.
He stepped into Montezumas palace and opened his mouth to speak.
"Finally the Immortal sees sense at last,
I will convince you that my power is vast,
and that trusting me is not a mistake,
no more cities will end beneath a lake,
furthermore, I have started a cleansing,
the lands to your north clearly needs rinsing,
The best way to fight the trees is fire, I know,
but don't worry, it will provide your lands with glow,
as new veins of diamonds are forged in the heat,
and black stones ripe with power to be freed.
Most sacred of all will be the Shrine of Entropy,
you will learn of it's power in time, don't worry!"
And sure enough, Montezuma's advisors reported that large fires were raging in the old Sumer lands. But whereever the fires had cleansed the jungle, the ground underneath seemed reinvigorated, and many new gem sources were found, crops grew and mines with a strange, black gemstone was also found.
The fires also revealed a site that was known as the Shrine of Entropy, far to the north. Since it was already fit as a mine, the workers did not hesitate to enter, and the Jester did not seem offended. In fact, he sneered as the workers returned from within - they had clearly not found the deepest secrets of the vaults, yet.
Also, the Jester called upon the people he had led out into the ocean many years earlier. Montezuma remembered the grieve loss of those people, who in comparison to his small empire back then had been many, but was now to be considered a minor population. Which is why he was surprised when legions of people ascended. Apparently, Perpentach had inspired the people he had gathered around him to multply. A lot. Many of these people settled in the former Sumerian cities, but some of them returned to their former homes in the other Aztec cities.
My King, a strange woman wishes to speak with you, should we let her en..
Before Montezumas Guard could finish his sentence he had gone up in flames, causing the immortal king to nearly jump from his throne as a tall, towering figure entered his throne room and stood directly before him. A dark red robe and hood covered thick black armour and an iron mask, without expression, flames burning where the eyes should be.
The figure began to speak with a woman's voice although it sounded cold, uncomfortably monotone and as if spoken through a metallic tube.
Neither i nor my lord will abide any waste of our time. Know, immortal king, that a new god has risen from the fires of the furnaces you ordered built and that he is pleased with you.
You may adress him in the future by the name of Chalybas.
Know also that he is neither patient nor merciful and will expect that you do as you are told.
He will not require worship or sacrifice, but obedience will be rewarded, defiance punished.
For the moment he merely requires of you to stay your course, make your nation one where the fires, of industry, fuelled by the ancient forests, bend steel to man's will, lead it into the age of metal.
Do not let the obsolete gods of nature intimidate you, their age is fading.
Of course in the future, my lord may require you to do his bidding, but he will always reward you and will guide and protect your realm as long as it does not deviate from it's current path.
With these words the woman, if this being was even remotely human at all, went up in flames and vanished within seconds leaving not a trail.
@ Tracnar: I can already tell you that from now following the orders of any god is evil Thinks he can work around punishment. puh!
Edit:
On to the story and changes.
"HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO WAGE A WAR?!"
...
*Swoosh*
... "Shaira, could you come in?" "What is it your majesty?" "First have someone clean up this mess. Secondly, call upon the women on this list and let them report to me. I need a new war council. Thirdly, send a letter to General Whatshisname that new troops have arrived. Fourthly, begin hoping that the stupid AI will finally do what Nictel wants. As for the last point of the agenda, have someone prepare a bath for me.
After the bath was prepared the queen went in to the bathing chambers. The oblong room was entirely made out of marble, with several pillars surrounding the bath in the centre. Against one of the longer walls stood a small alter with a wooden box on it. The queen collected a small wooden ship from the box and sat it down next to the bath. She took her robe off, revealing a golden medallion engraved with a silver whale hanging from her neck. Before stepping in to the bath she turned around to a map of the world hanging on the other side. With one hand she touched her medallion with the other a spot on the map where only sea was drawn. After a few minutes in deep concentration she suddenly sighed and had to hold the wall for support as not to fall down. She made her way to the bath and set down in the warm water. She took the small wooden ship and let it float. Then she grabbed the boat from underneath and pulled it under. So that is done she thought and closed her eyes to relax.
Spoiler:
/Don't like how it is written but whatever.
... Somewhere a deep rumble could be heard and the earth shook for several minutes.
SpoilerThe Island :
... "What is this rumble?!" The son of Khan asked the high priest. "It must be the prophecy of The Black Tide great Lord.""Then now is the time for us to bring fort the army of Khan and bring the world under the rule of Khan!" The men in the room answered as was the custom, with a loud: "FOR KHAN!!"
SpoilerWhat to do :
Defy Nihil
Settle on the new island
Mouth of Khan will open after this turnset. PREPARE
You may research flight but of course forget all about capturing a fortress with it or something ;-)
Capture Bibracte (Celtic Capital) before entering the Modern Age. Do not raze it. (It holds the Hanging Gardens.)
Have a permanent Alliance with Izzy. (At the end of the turnset after this one.)
SpoilerChanges, NFTE :
Gave every AI civ 12 unpromoted riflemen
Gave Spain a new city with three unpromoted riflemen
Gave Spain 8 unpromoted knights
Gave Spain one fully promoted knight
Created a new island (See screenshot)
Gave Monty 7 settlers
Gave Monty five fast workers
Gave Spain 3 gem sites.
Destroyed all of Toku's boats. (That I could find)
Changed Izzy <-> Monty from -3 to +3
Changed Izzy <-> Brennus to -5
Almost forgot this small edit: I gave Spain the same techs as Monty has. I think it was only rifling and communism though.
P.S. Aquaris was too busy telling you this but besides nomads coming to your lands to join the great Aztec Empire a group of hard working men want to help as well. Also this time the settlers are already at an advised location.
Perhaps later Aquaris might want a word with you. (Read: If one of the other gods decide to give you a mission I just can not agree with.) Aquaris has been very kind to you this time but she has been known to have mood swings.
Thanatos walked down a road he had long not walked - the road to the part of the Underworld where the souls of dead men and women resided. He was the Bringer of Death - not the Spirit Guide or the Judge. He had no need to be there - yet for his plans, he needed a daring soul willing to accept his offer. A soul, ambitious enough to carry out his plans after all. A soul, who had no qualms anymore about the means and who only cared about the ends. But most of all... a soul driven to do what he wanted. One who still harboured a vengeance.
He had evaluated these criteria and chose the one who would execute his plans. He knew who he needed... a soul long sent to the underworld, who had harboured a lengthy vengeance against the world.
"Gilgamesh."
The immortal looked up, still just as grim as when he came there. Not in thousands of years had he accepted his failure.
"I can give you a second chance. The man which I foolishly sought to set up for greatness has squandered his gifts on foolish actions. He has not done anything with my generosity, nor does he have the wisdom to use that generosity well. You, on the other hand, do possess those qualities. Take my offer and you will once again rule an empire, and make another bid for rulership of the world!"
A sparkle of hope glinted in Gilgamesh's eyes. Another chance?
"There is only one catch, Gilgamesh. You will only attack those I deem you should attack. You will only trade with those I say you should trade with. In short, you need to follow my lead... but I offer you power. A lot of power. Well, what say you?"
Gilgamesh only nodded. It was almost too good to be true. He had wanted another chance for thousands of years...
"Good. Take some of your best soldiers with you, I will arm them on the surface. We are going to execute a coup d'etat. We are going to overthrow a man who has only excelled in inaction, one who does not deserve the gifts he has received. Now follow me..."
After those words, Thanatos opened a gate to the Overworld. Gilgamesh and a few Sumerians followed him. Behind them, the gate closed...
...... More to follow... soon...
NFTE:
Spoiler:
As you might have gathered from the text, I'm going to bring Gilgamesh back from the dead. He will directly take over either China or Zululand (both nations which have received blessing from me yet done nothing), and be gifted back techs and troops to a level where he can take over the other. I'm going to build a land bridge between the two as well, so he can start his conquest.
Why Gilgamesh? He fits well as Thanatos' undead general, and unlike wimp Qin or idiot Shaka, he might actually do something right for a change.
The reason I'm not editing yet is because it's a big one. It's not going to mess up plans directly for Tracnar, but it will make it more difficult for him to win the game. If we don't do anything to counterbalance that it's just going to end too easy for him, and this is more fun for him than just messing him up.
That is okay as long as you do not spoil contents to any of the other gods or Tracnar. Remember to include the text I have included in the spoiler marked "text".
