Role Play Challenge: All Good Things.......

Ragnar is strong but I think WvO is more dangerous. Beware, there is a whole continent unsettled and Willem is great at overseas expansion. Be on guard or he will win.

Yes will is, but not at the moment. I would be dissapointed if there is not an entire other continent to pillage in the modern era! Remember there is no time limits, and we are Khans!

If I remember correctly, land is power. Looks like it's ok. Monty has some land to the north that can probably be gobbled up quite easily.

Forgot to mention it. Monty capitulated to Justinian, our best friend (for the moment).

Thx for a great series of games. It takes a lot of skill to play the game in so many different styles and still come out on top, well, a good bit of the time. Shaka notwithstanding.

The Monty RPC was the first sample game I read - just that one helped me move up a level.

Best of luck with the wandering hordes!

I thought Khan's didn't have friends?
what about backstabbing HC? He doesn't like you that much now anyway and he is between you and Ragnar, I never really like fighting someone when I have to go through someone else's lands to get at them.

All Good Things....: Chaos and the Rise of Mongolian Might!

A crazy segment! War, War, War, Backstabs, Annoyances, and More war. we ended with peace, but fear not the shall be more war!

Our Biggest threat, at least at the start of this segment, was Ragnar. Fear not, viking armies are not marching into Mongolia, they are off shooting other game (and perhaps looking for something to drink).

KKI0000.jpg

Of course any good Khan (or a bad one for that matter!) always looks are power numbers

KKI0001.jpg

Definitely the Vikings need to be pushed back a little.

And then out of nowehere, we found

KKI0002.jpg

Kublai is furious. No, nothing against the American, but one of the dead leaders is missing! Bah, let's see what this new leader has to offer.

KKI0003.jpg

Hey, perhaps this American gent aint too bad a guy! We open borders and look for later trades (they never came).

Before I get into the "Events" of the segment, let me tell you all the techpath this segment

Steel/Steam Power/start Assembly line

So back to the game.

Ragnar has dominated the top ranks of the military charts way too long, time to brush back his encroachment onto our lands

KKI0004.jpg

Note we still have 5 keshiks with us. Excellent units who make extraordinary pillaging units. For a long outdated unit they contribute mightily to the empire!

So quickly

KKI0005.jpg

We send the Keshiks off pillaging again. Since they worked so hard during the early part of the game Kubali has decided to let them have some recreation and enjoying the benefits of pillaging the enemy (saving a few spoils for their chief Mongol lord of course)!

Soon a big block of Viking culture is removed!

KKI0006.jpg

In hindsight, perhaps a few settlers would have been prudent, but you must forgive the Khan, the blood has been rushing to his head with all the fighting abouts!

As far as tech we are doing an excellent job, considering we are getting 400-500 beakers per turn, not bad

KKI0007.jpg

Pericles has turned into a great trading partner this segment

KKI0008.jpg

Essentially everytime Zara or Pericles teched one of our Monolpoly techs, I traded it off. Worked very nicely!

We continue to push into the Viking lands that are east of Inca

KKI0009.jpg

Forcing him into his little corner of the world. Let him smack arround Mansa if he wants.

Now remember Issabella is a vassal of Ragnar, so she's at war with us too. The bulk of her empire is to the south, past Shaka's lands with only 2 lands near Tokugawa's lands. So we eliminated those 2 cities

KKI0010.jpg

And left her alone (she is still Buddhist and in theocracy, so we can still get her friendly).

The last Viking city near us

KKI0011.jpg

Now these cities razed were still technically Incan, so Hyuna is furious at us. Apparently he still had some attachment to them, go fidgure.

At this time Kublai sees no reason to continue this war, so we call Ragnar in

KKI0012.jpg

We then call Hyuna in for some discussions

KKI0013.jpg

He does not have that many cities, is behind in tech, and perhaps ripe for picking off

KKI0014.jpg

We send a horde of only Mounted units to deal with the Incans!
More about that later.

In the meantime, we popped another Great General and since we have need for another Medic III (the last got killed in the Egyptian Wars), and since all the Great General names have been exhausted this game, Kublai Khan decided he must find the greatest general possible to lead his troops

KKI0015.jpg

Let's hope this General does not get himself killed!!!!! (Hint, check his name people!)

At the same time we got our Globe Theater city finished

KKI0016.jpg

We wait for the right time to adopt Nationhood, but I expect ALOT of drafted units from here (Stupidly I have yet to get Buddhism here!).

Our Mobile Horde has attacked deep into Incan lands, taking his #2 city and his top port city.

KKI0017.jpg

Of course we razed it to the ground.

This was too much for Hyuna to take (as we refused his capitulation), so he got himself a Sugar Daddy.

KKI0018.jpg

A bit of a surprise, but not much of a concern. Hannibal has no horses, so we pay him little attention. However he does have rifling and Hyuna all of a sudden has rifles! Kublai is no coward, but neither is he a fool, so he his Horde back to save lands.

Which is when things got interesting...

To Be Continued.........................

All Good Things..........: Chaos and Rise of Mongolian Might!

So right after this sneak attack from Hannibal, we checked techs

KKI0019.jpg

I see a few trades are in order

KKI0020.jpg

While Justinian must die eventually, I certainly plan to keep him arround until near the end (or until he get's too close to a culture win).

And since Pericles has an amazingly small empire, I do not fear making this trade

KKI0021.jpg

And no RPC would be complete without

KKI0022.jpg

Yeah, yeah. WE ignored him until he came near our Mounted stack with a VERY LARGE STACK of his won! We destroyed it by just playing defense (Sorry, Kublai just never had the time to kill them proper Khan fashion).

So at the moment we are at war with Hannibal/Hyuna, but Ragnar then attacks Hannibal Inc (perhaps the other way arround, I am not sure). I then was able to make this trade

KKI0023.jpg

THAT is what I love about Ragnar. We can be blood enemies the entire game, and all of a sudden he is willing to open borders because it is Mutually beneficial!

We got our empire set with trades and all, so we decided to alter civics again

KKI0024.jpg

A big boost in happiness and the ability to draft!

As our Horde meanders back to home, not willing to crash themselves against rifles (especially the new valued Great General), but we find

KKI0025.jpg

We all know the chances of getting open border with Tokugawa, so we decided to march right through, declaring war in the process.

So that leaves us at war with

Shaka
Hannibal
Hyuna
Sury
Tokugawa

To many at once, let's go talk to Shaka

KKI0027.jpg

Apparently the Big Bid Zulu aint so big with his entire army destroyed!

One other thing to note. Monty has broken free from Justinian and he has ALOT of Grenaders prowling his borders. Considering he's on our east border and our assorted other enemies are to the west (with most of our army), I decided it was time to get serious and cripple someone.

KKI0028.jpg

A few japanese cities trashed, more to come.

At this point the AP election popped up, Kublai awaits the results of the vote eagarly

KKI0029.jpg

Pope Kublai! How grand, now if we can only get a resolution to vote on!

Soon Hyuna broke away from Hannibal, so we were able to make peace there (before Hannibal was demanding gold).

KKI0030.jpg

KKI0031.jpg

OK, we are down to just one war at the moment.

We smashed deep into Japanese territory this time, razing some important cities

KKI0032.jpg

KKI0033.jpg

I would have continued the campaign but two problems, 1) Toku snuck a stack in and was ready to take one of our valuable cities, and 2) Monty concerns me a little too much.

So

KKI0034.jpg

I have a feelign Willem is planning to attack because he "Has Enough on His Hands"

So where does that leave us

Our cities

KKI0035.jpg

And most important, demographics

KKI0036.jpg

TOPS in soldiers People!

SO I plan to get some more Settlers for the borders as we expand.

The question is who do we hit next?? Looks to me that Toku and Monty are our biggest immediate threats and should probably be eliminated.

tech we are near the top, researching assembly line next. So I am also looking at perhaps doing a massive infrastructure buildup (Factories and such) and then start with infantry, to be followed by tanks!

But I thinkwe need at least 1 more war and some more cities first!

Good idea to cut Ragnar down to size. :goodjob: A general rule that I like to follow is to lean towards targeting whoever is the strongest, even if there are easier prey out there. Because you're gonna have to deal with those strongest ones eventually, and you might as well do it sooner than later.

And besides, the great Khan was never afraid of any fight, no matter how strong the foe. ;)

Your planning of doing conquest right?

You've got a lot to do.

Your decisions have been good though!

The great Khan should I believe start keeping cities that he conquers simply because the hammers wasted on settlers would be better spent on military as you need more land to take out the world (well maybe not as it is monarch) and by keeping cities you will be able to get them producing hordes faster, saving on infrastructure, growth time, and saving hammers elsewhere.

However if the great Khan should decide to go razing he must be warned that the AI's will snap up the land FAST... expect WvO to start settling out your continent when massive holes are left.

Still a lot of conquest to go. You're teching too well, though. I mean, this is marathon. Shouldn't you be wiping out like 3 ennemies per era?

I'd say clean up to make sure you only have one front to war with. Don't want Polly coming in from behind. Then, just walk your troops out, declaring war on whoever's next to you, bringing along settlers to fill in the gaps.

There is a little strategy to my Madness in this RPC.

1) 18 civcs in the Old World of a huge map leaves very litte room.

2) As a result of point 2, there has been consistant warfare throughout.

3) As a results of point 3, the overall techrate has been poor.

4) Not warring with everyone and leaving people arround allows me to get more techs from trade, thus a tech lead.

5) Arranging certain leaders to be knocked back without destroying them is working out. Example, Monty kep the north quite busy. Ragner seams to be keeping Hyuna/Mansa/Hannibal entertained and NOT teching.

But I am pretty much where I wanted to be, on the verge of infantry. The plan is to get several settlers and start attacking while settling the conquered land. With infantry it will take a LONG time for the AIs to match in military techs which would allow me time to establish an economic recovery!

See, there is a plan. Khan ani't no fool!:D

^WOW! I'm impressed. I didn't think you had a plan, and you were making up all the way along, but the one you have sounds great!

Khan ain't no fool!

It'd be great to see the full map again to see how the land is split up now. Not so bad to NOT have settlers with you during the fighting as you would have had to worry about defending these fresh cities against a number of opponents. Probably a good idea to get them into place now while things are somewhat quiet...

Did you look into taking Cuzco? Looks like a pretty sweet city and I'd guess it would likely have the Shrine in there somewhere too. Don't forget to get Buddhism spread everywhere quickly as you are not only missing out on the Theocracy and happiness aspects, but the buildings will provide the AP bonus stuff.

I know that you're not necessarily interested in keeping them, but can you give us a look at where the more important wonders ended up?

@ Mad: you know that in your plan each point references itself, surely point 2 should say as a result of point 1?

Looks like the game is going the right way but I think resettling ASAP over the razed cities is probably a good plan
