Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

Just saw this:

Goals/agendas for the post-war world:

Aarut Empire; victory
End democracy, take Gibraltar, Minorca, Malta, etc, build up a stable capitalist commercial/industrial/economical powerhouse, try to be the #1 economy in the world, give in to anti-war protesters and be peaceful. Maybe let Geldut peacefully enter the federation.

Aarut Empire; loss
Turn into a democracy, build up a stable capitalist commercial/industrial/economical powerhouse, give in to anti-war protesters and be peaceful but still intensely dislike the Furotoca for ending our golden age. Maybe let Geldut peacefully enter the federation.

Rosk Empire; victory
Have a quick bloody revolution, kill the ruling family. Invite a monarch from Aarut or Geldut to form a liberal constitutional monarchy, much like Aarut's. Stop trying to militarily subjugate Amestria and instead be content with some strips of coastal lands and having some small Amestrian states as vassals. Even go as far as to issue a public apology to the Amestrians. Turn pacifist. Build up the economy.
When a monarch from Geldut or Aarut is invited, unification with that state would be fine with the angry Rosk people.

Rosk Empire; loss
Have a long bloody revolution, kill the ruling family, disintegrate into a myriad of movements (including communists), kill each other, ravage Rosk lands. Radicals will win and turn Rosk into some ultra-radical country full of nationalism and popular sentiment fueling the radicalism. What the radicals will do depends on which radicals win.

Poneb Empire; Aarut win
Try to get the Aarut+Rosk to grant them permission to exercise authority over Sarvonian states around them. Keep building up the country, being peaceful, etc.

Poneb Empire; Furotocan win
Keep building up the country, being peaceful, etc. Try to get some land out of the Rosk's implosion.

New Aarut; Aarut win
Rejoice, get mad if New Aarut soldiers don't get paid their full salaries by Aarut, the usual.

New Aarut; Aarut loss
Break away, be peaceful with most surrounding native states.

I have returned to reclaim my empire daft!! :p

Sorry I was away for so long, it's good to be back :(

TIANDISHI EMPIRE AND ASSOCIATED TERRITORIES

-Everyone is gonna follow the Tiandishi lead, because we're awesome like that.

-Conditions for entering the war:

Any incursion or escalation of the Gentleman's War by the [Japanese] will be treated super harshly, and we could also potentially blow up Varakan support of anti-Tiandishi stuff into a conflict. If we do so, the Tiandishi Empire will face the Varakans while the [Koreans] face the Takaraji.

Essentially we want to wipe the Shynists off of the map. Since the Varakans have pretty much stopped supporting those idiots, then we should be problemless. If [Japan] decides to step it up though, then if Varakan decides to help them, we'll be dragged into a war with them.

-Social/Ideological Changes: If we're at war, we're going to need to decrease the friction between us and the [Koreans]. Therefore, we will adopt less authoritarian positions on key issues such as repression and beatdown of Shynists if it makes the [Koreans] happier. However, our barbaric heritage gives us the pragmatic culture which is very useful to exploit in war. Along with this shift could come an increase in ancient Yueren influence with the harmony and the jazz.

-Technologies/Tactics: Even though we have so many people, I really want to get away from human wave tactics. That's pretty inefficient. I'd like to just bomb the crap out of people, zoom in with tanks, and then sweep up with infantry, instead of just throwing people out there to die.

In the technological end then, I'd like to, in addition to culturally becoming more lenient and more liberal to suit the Koreans, adopt their technologies and industrial production methods. I probably won't win the naval race against the [Japanese], but land is our biggest strength. So tanks and weapons and stuff. And maybe even guided missiles.

-Goals

-Stop the Shynist terrorist uprisings.
-Reduce [Japanese] hegemony.
-Win some colonies.

-Risk

We are willing to risk losing our colonies and even giving up some pretty unassimilated territory (like the Shynist Empire). We want to keep our land integrity pretty intact though!

Priorities of the Takaraji Empire and various affiliated groups/cultures

Given the growing concern surrounding the world war and increasing tension with the Triple Alliance the Takaraji Empire will instead focus on consolidating its various holdings. The use of military force as a means of outright expansion will be curbed in order to adhere to this new goal, limited to the continued jockeying of various small island colonies and outposts in the Pacific through the Gentleman’s War with the Triple Alliance as always, continuing to assist Taraygaru in ‘liberating’ the remaining part of the Philippines under Juray control, and reinforcing Marinta to stabilize the front with the Xanto Empire and eventually push out their incursion entirely. That doesn’t mean we will not respond with equal force to any and all blows dealt to us by the Triple Alliance in the Gentlman’s war, but a greater emphasis should be place on expansion through more diplomatic means and taking a more defensive stance to give us time to bolster our strength. The former of this new strategy can be directed towards extricating the various protectorates from the Sezyvr Covenants influence once that nation falls into chaos under the assault of the Marzhung, making greater efforts to expand our economic and political influence amongst the remaining neutral countries in South East Asia (Dagon, Zayan, Ceyloni, etc.), and pushing forward to establish a relationship with the Lantamac Empire in Mexico to further counter the Xanto. Now the later part of Takaraji’s new policy will be directed as stated before in bolstering our overall strength, through economic assistance and development of the various colonies and our vassals to better production capacity and economic prosperity, coordinating new reforms to increase our overall manpower through greater efforts towards assimilation, greater political cooperation with the many Protectorate governments under our control, and establishing various ‘Joint Security Taskforces’ with them in order to strengthen our military capabilities. Takaraji will also continue to compete with the members of the Triple Alliance in terms of technologically, economically and manufacturing wise on all fields, to remain on par with them in this current arms race with them, and hopefully perhaps even surpass them. Of course, continue to offer marginal support to our allies and their efforts in the current World War as we have been doing so far, but barring that the Takaraji Empire and its sphere of influence will move to avoid escalating our involvement in the war to remain neutral and nominally at peace.

Era 19: The World Transformed

Map 1957:

The World War: 1957-1964

By January 1957, the 'big' war is fought by the alliance of the Aarut Federation, the Varakan Empire, and their mutual friends (known simply as the 'Allies') against the United Furotoca and its allies (referred to as the 'Furotocans', although their actual ideologies are quite varied).

1957: Enthusiasm

The biggest ever sea battles take place in the [Mediterranean]. This is the long-awaited showdown between the Allied and Furotocan fleets. Thousands of aircraft are involved too. Both sides lose many famous warships. The Furotocans have superior radar and communication, but the Allies win by sheer weight of numbers. The Furotocan expedition in [North Africa] is isolated and defeated.

With its capitol cities in enemy hands, the Holy Empire of Tezan begins to collapse, brining chaos to large parts of [Africa]. The Manzuru send little help to their Varakan allies in the north, but show great interest in expanding westwards across the continent with their Varakan-made weapons.

Allied progress is slow elsewhere. A daring Varakan airborne-amphibious invasion of various ports and islands in the [Aegean] area is a disaster. Some islands are captured, and new Marzhung-built helicopters prove useful, but many beachheads have to be evacuated, causing more losses of Allied ships and planes. The Republic of Turun (central Turkey) is dragged into the war on the Furotocan side. The Aarut had wanted to invade [Sicily], but Furotocans reinforce the central islands, and the moment passes. The tiny Tezanian island of [Malta] is the only prize the Aarut marines can gain.

The Argine army hovers menacingly on the border of [northern Italy].

During late autumn, the Poneb Empire invades the Sezvyr Covenant, but is soon pushed back by the intervention of the Marzhung, who have been anticipating such a move by Poneb. Poneb's forces are outgunned and outclassed. The Sezvyr fall under Marzhung influence. This humiliation is the final straw for Poneb's imperial regime, and revolution occurs behind the lines. Fighting continues, but this war remains separate, for now. The Thereska Sarvonia is placed in a diplomatic tangle with its neighbours, but manages to keep its own hostilities limited to the Varakan front.

In the Far East, the skirmishing between the Huiyan and the Varakan army of the Irzhul Katan comes to a close. Despite Huiyan-Yanshi public sentiment against Varakans, both sides withdraw without further incident, and the Irzhul rebellion is crushed. Meanwhile the Tiandishi continue to attack the Shynists of [Tibet], and a Carrier battle off the southern coast of the [Philippines] turns out to be the last noteworthy event in the 'Gentlemen's War' - incidentally it is a victory for the Takaraji. Around the same time, the Takaraji test fire a large ballistic rocket capable of reaching hundreds of miles into mainland [China] from [Japan]. The Huiyan-Yanshi are not far behind with their own rocket program. Both remain well ahead of [Europe] in that field.

The Takaraji navy offers some help for the Varakans in the [Indian Ocean] but that is as far as their involvement with the Allies goes.

In [North America], The Xanto are forced out of Marinata (California) by a Takaraji expedition, with most of their aircraft and heavy weapons lost. The Takaraji position is strengthened by alliance with the Lantamac Empire (Mexico). The Xanto reluctantly turn to guerrilla warfare. The Lantan High Priests now abandon caution and call for a war of resistance to all foreign invaders. Some claim the Lantan hierarchy is now nothing more than a propaganda tool in the hands of the Xanto, but in any case thousands of guerrilla fighters answer the call.

In [South America], the Matac Empire is the protagonist in an ongoing war, with fighting concentrated around the [Amazon] area. A messy tribal conflict has been set in motion, with modern rifles and heavy weapons - the Matac even have a growing airforce, though it is made of obsolete foreign planes. The Takaraji and Aarut are moved to reinforce their garrisons on the continent. The Aarut play a lesser role as they are also dragged into fighting the Rayulat warlords of [Venezuela], not to mention the forces of the Zanac Kingdom (southern Chile) which, with its traditional links to Tezan, is the only country outside of [Africa] and [Europe] to openly support the Furotocan cause.

1958: Engagement

The Sarvonians, aided by Urgruian mountain troops, encircle and capture a whole Varakan army in the [Caucasus]. This temporary success inspires a few more [east European] countries to officially join the Furotocan war effort. Things then change on the Amestrian front. The Roskians and Aarut are pushed towards the [Baltic] coast. Evidence of Roskian war crimes is uncovered - 'death camps', and poison gas attacks against whole villages. Despite this, not all of the Amestrian guerrilla factions choose to cooperate with the Furotocans. Times are bleak in Amestria.

The air war over [Europe] gets more intense. New Varakan jet bombers come into service. With their cities burning, the Furotocans struggle to make ready their new interceptors and radar-guided rockets. Most of Varaka's cities and factories are too far away for retaliation, but Furotocan bombers are able to some reap some revenge against the Aarut, Argines and Roskians.

'Operation Tagarot' is the long-awaited push by Argines and Aarut into northern [Italy], to avenge the Furotocan incursion of 1955-56. Argine troops attack with surprising bravery and savagery, stirred up by propaganda full of apocalyptic imagery. They reach deep into northern [Italy] but are stalled after suffering almost half a million casualties. Then follows flash floods and thick snow, which gives both sides a pause to catch their breath.

The Allies gain theoretical control over most of northern [Africa]. Manzuru forces reach the [Atlantic] coast of Saigara (Cameroon). But the Varakans in particular are plagued by rebels and resistance fighters across huge swathes of territory.

Marzhung intentions in Sezvyr become clear with the declaration of the 'Greater Progressive Union of Marzhung-Sezvyr'. While Poneb and the Marzhung-Sezvyr are still fighting a skirmish war across the [Urals] and the [Artic] coast, Marzhung troops are being drawn further and further east to deal with obstinate Sezvyr warlords.

Otherwise, tensions in the Far East begin to ease for various reasons. The Krashenist revival in [India] is a growing danger to both Varakan and Tiandishi power. The Holy Shyin Emperor calls for peace, and Varaka does not oppose the Tiandishi occupation of the [Tibetan plateau]. Meanwhile a conservative regime takes hold in Takaraji. Both Huiyan-Yanshi and the Takaraji lose interest in perusing the Gentlemen's War in the [Pacific], and both look to gain something from the collapse of the Sezvyr.

Aarut policies in [North America] lead to more fighting there between all sides. Native guerrilla factions are stirred up to fight against each other, as well as the Aarut. The Panto leadership loses any kind of real authority. Old hatreds are revived. Most of the [eastern USA] returns to disputed-zone status. All this violence does no good for the fortunes of New Aarut, and resentment towards the mother Federation steadily grows. Meanwhile the Takaraji reinforce their [Pacific] protectorates and are drawn into fighting Lantan-inspired guerrillas in the [Rocky Mountains].

The idea of a grand 'triple alliance' - the Furtocans, Yanshi-Huiyan, and the Xanto-Panto - against the 'global imperialists' (Allies) seems dead at this point.

1959: Frustration

It seems that anti-air missiles and improved radar may be a little too late. Blockade, invasion and bombing seem to be strangling the Furotocan war industry. But the Allies are suffering their own problems from partisans, rebels, and dissenters, particularly in the old Tezanian heartlands. Also, Furotocan ships, subs and bombers still prowl the high seas, operating from friendly bases spread across the world - in Xanto and Zanac territory, former Tezanian territories, and even Krashenist strongholds in [India].

A Krashenist-Jurancist movement has another attempt at seizing power in Kronahar (England/Wales), which has so far been a passive supporter of the Allies along with Rithland, Geldut, and other countries trapped in the Aarut economic sphere. Rithland (Scotland) draws closer to the Allies, and sends troops are sent south to intervene. Some later see action across [Europe] too.

With the prospect of a long guerrilla war in [Siberia] against Sezvyr rebels, the need to contain Takaraji incursion, and Varakan pleas for assistance against Sarvonia, the Marzhung try to force an advantageous peace with Poneb. Marzhung elite troops probe as far as the [White Sea], but Poneb stubbornly fights on under its new Republican government. Sarvonia and the Furotocans send whatever war supplies they can, and make little secret of it. Marzhung forces begin to skirmish with Sarvonian garrisons on the east bank of the [Volga]. A trickle of supplies comes from Huiyan-Yanshi, until Aarut and Rosk eventually send some ships to lay mines off Poneb's coasts and impound trade vessels.

Furotocan aircraft carry out a daring low-level attack on the unfinished Yansalan (Suez) Canal, doing enough damage to keep it that way until the end of the war.

There is action on all fronts during Summer and Autumn. The Varakans grind their way through Furotocan defence lines in [Turkey] and the [Caucasus], while the exhausted Argines lose ground in [Italy]. Meanwhile the Furotocans push further into the [Baltic], and the Rosk Empire faces massive civil unrest at home. But unlike in Poneb, the Roskian military uses brutal methods to hold on to power. The Aarut are overstretched and cannot offer any new offensives on any front.

For the Furotocans, a knock-out blow against the Aarut homeland (Denmark and northern Germany) launched from Amestrian and Vauslan territory is a tempting idea, especially if the Thessen Union (Germany) can be inspired to join the Furotocan war effort. Thessen has been modernising and mobilising for years, but still refuses to make any firm commitments. The situation in Amestria is still unstable. And the Aarut have several strong defence lines in the way. So instead, the Furotocan leaders eventually decide on a grand counter-offensive in the east to save Sarvonia from its impending doom. Plans are set for the following year.

The year ends with a serious wave of unrest and rebellion across the Varakan Empire. Guerrillas seize large parts of [North Africa], Yansala (Egypt), and southern Nayir (Arabia). There is a real attempt to create a fundamentalist Wainist republic in southern [Iran] and [Pakistan]. Krashenists also threaten to overrun much of [India], but there the Takaraji and Tiandishi also intervene. Fighting is fierce - roughly a million people are killed this year in [Bengal] alone, the vast majority civilians, as the Tiandishi and Varakans combine forces against the Grajaj Krashenists. It doesn't stop the spread of their ideas. Shynist and Krashenist uprisings cause similar problems all across [western China]. Tiandishi is distracted while the Takaraji and Yanshi negotiate a new and peaceful state of affairs in the [Pacific].

In [North America], a political crisis in New Aarut drags on throughout the year. The Aarut Federation retains military control of the core territories. Guerrilla fighting continues and there is a flood of refugees heading to relatively-safe areas. The 'illegal' colonist states of New Rithland (Saskatchewan), Saargarat (South Dakota) and New Geldut (Gerorgia) fight to survive and expand in the face of fierce native resistance. The Takaraji disapprove, but the Aarut stance remains ambiguous.

In [South America], Matac forces cause the collapse of the old Zamarac Kingdom with the help of river gunboats and aircraft, but they cannot complete the conquest. Takaraji and Aarut colonial troops and their affiliates put pressure on the Matac supply routes. The Amasan Empire (northern Argentina) attacks the Matac allies from the south. The Hygurans (northern Brazil) mobilise to see what they can gain from Zamarac lands.

1960: Escalation

The Varakans buy some time by pulling hundreds of thousands of troops pulled out of the front lines to contain the revolts. Even so, [northern India] and large parts of [Africa] are basically abandoned for the time being. At the same time, Varakan military leaders defeat a mutiny by reformist-moderates in Vesakarai (the grand new Varakan capitol, north of OTL Teheran), and take more power for themselves in the process. One item on the new agenda is the building of hundreds of new concentration camps all across the Empire. The Varakan emperor Gavanael II, already weakened by illness and the loss of his eldest son in an air training accident, is left as a figurehead ruler only.

On a fine spring morning, the first nuclear explosion in history occurs at a pre-determined height over the small town of Guusli, on an island in the [Adriatic]. A fast and high-flying Varakan jet bomber has evaded Furotocan air defences to drop a Uranium nuclear bomb. There has been no prior testing - Allied scientists were confident enough of their design. Total deaths are under twenty thousand, but that is not the point. The Varakans declare it to be a 'warning shot'. Weeks later, with furtive armistice talks coming to nothing, the Allies then strike the crowded city of [Naples] with another Uranium bomb. This time around seventy thousand die instantly, not counting the after-effects...

There is surprisingly little panic across the United Furotoca - the people are hardened by years of conventional bombing, and there is still much confusion and disbelief surrounding these atomic weapons. The Furotocan leaders, aware of the many difficulties of their own atomic bomb program, coldly gamble that the Allies cannot maintain this bombardment. Allied peace demands are unacceptable. The Furotocan leaders appeal to their people to withstand whatever may come. The United Furotoca still stands.

Meanwhile, both the Allied and the Furotocan armies are focused on the fighting in the [Caucasus]. As expected, the Marzhung officially join the Allied cause and quickly overrun all Sarvonian territory east of the [Volga]. The Furotocan counter-offensives get into action, and collide head on with new and increasingly desperate offensives launched by the Allies - even Manzuru troops are now fighting in the [Caucasus]. The biggest tank battles in history - so far - are fought in the plains between the [Don] and the [Volga], with equally fierce air battles raging overhead.

The Varakans and Marzhung ultimately meet at the north-west corner of the [Caspian sea], and also cross the [Don] in several places, but their victory is not complete. The Furotocan [Black Sea] Fleet maintains stubborn pockets of resistance in the [Caucasus]. More of the Yeshegi mountain fighters are drawn over to the Furotocan side. And on the [Anatolian] front, overstretched Varakan forces are almost pushed back to pre-war borders - it seems the famous old cities of the Voresian Empire may be spared further bombardment.

Republican Poneb remains resolute in the face of further Marzhung-Sezvyr advances, as well as an abortive but surprisingly serious attack out of [Finland] by the Roskians with Rithlander and other miscellaneous Allied troops tagging along.

The Furotocan fleet returns to action, armed with experimental anti-ship and anti-air missiles. Furotocan subs cannot get through the [Straights of Gibraltar] but a new generation prowl the [Mediterranean]. Allied ships are sunk at an alarming rate. Elite troops are sent to raid the [African] coast and find the Allied garrisons there in some disarray.

Varakan supply lines are now almost nonexistent beyond [Mesopotamia]. The Marzhung are left with a heavy burden on the [Asian] front, especially after basically commandeering large numbers of Varakan tanks and jet bombers.

The Varakans pull out all the stops to launch a third nuclear attack in the winter. But despite careful preparation and simultaneous decoy raids, the bomber carrying the nuke is shot down by the latest Furotocan hybrid jet-rocket interceptors high above [Greece]. The Furotocan spy network plays a role in this, as do the latest Furotocan computing machines which are now regularly decoding Allied messages. But Varakan secrecy is such that the actual intended target is never known for sure. The Allies have now almost exhausted their stockpile of enriched Uranium - gathered at great expense over the past few years - and in any case need a better way to get through Furotocan air defences.

As the year ends, Krashenists in [northern India] declare their own state - 'Kajiri Karashai' - and the Varakan Empire faces another round of rebellions, but not quite the great collapse that the Furotocans are hoping for. A fatalistically determined mood grips both sides.

In the Far East, the Marzhung-Sezvyr end up fighting a major battle with Takaraji-Asalyat colonial forces over the Kartung Protectorate, much to the surprise of both sides. A compromise is soon reached and the Takaraji sphere avoids antagonising the Allies any further. Meanwhile the Huiyan-Yanshi publicly guarantee protection of Siyaga Kingdom (Thailand) and Great Dagon (Borneo) against further Tiandishi ambitions, causing some controversy. Tiandishi troops are accused of various atrocities against Shynists in [Tibet] and various 'subversives' across [South-East Asia] but this is soon overshadowed by disturbing rumours coming out of the Varakan Empire.

Things remain violent in [North America], and New Aarut remains in limbo. Old Aarut is eventually forced to negotiate more autonomy for the new territories in order to keep war supplies flowing to [Europe]. This begins an unstoppable chain of events. On the west coast, the Lantan uprising begins to die down for now, as it seems the Takaraji have no further interest in Xanto or Xante lands, but Lantan fundamentalism begins to overtake the traditional leadership.

1961: Survival

The Marzhung now play the leading role on the Allied side, and attack Sarvonia with everything they can muster, a two-pronged attack from across the [Don] and from the north through occupied Ponebyan territory. Aside from aircraft, Varakan support is lacking. But the Furotocans cannot manage another big counter-offensive, and with most of Sarvonia's industrial territory already lost, they choose to preserve their forces and fall back towards the [Dnieper] and Kuparta (the Crimea), the latter of which is soon placed under siege.

The Argines take the opportunity to push again through the [Alps] into [Italy]. Even the Aarut manage to push back on the Amestrian front with help from Rithlander and Roskian troops.

Poneb finally cracks under the pressure. A punishing armistice is signed, but loyalists reject it and continue to fight on in some areas. Other loyalists join up with the Keyzad of Sariv (Belarus) which is soon dragged into the war.

Things look better for the Furotocans in the [Mediterranean]. Special forces are send into [Tunisia] by boat and aircraft to support an anti-Varakan revolt, which is successful. This gives extra encouragement to rebels all across [north Africa] and [Arabia]. The Aarut then lose control of much of [Algeria] and [Morocco]. The Varakans regroup at the [Nile] delta. The brutal conditions in Varakan concentration camps are made public, aiding Furotocan propaganda - whole villages at a time are being detained on minimal rations, used as forced labour or killed outright in an effort to stamp out rebellion. Meanwhile several islands in the [Agean] are recaptured from the Varakans and more progress is made on the [Anatolian] front.

Nonetheless, for the Furotocans, the overall picture is disheartening. There are now two main problems - the chaotic mix of equipment types, standards, procedures, languages and nationalities in the Furotocan armies, and then the industrial situation. Strategic stockpiles are exhausted. The remaining oilfields in Zevon (Romania) cannot produce enough fuel on their own. Only the Allies have colonies and access to foreign markets around the world. The Furotocans place their hopes in the internal collapse of their enemies, and in secret weapons projects...

The Furotocans test a Plutonium implosion-type nuclear weapon in a remote valley in the [Alps]. The yield is greater than the Varakan plutonium nukes, and makes much more efficient use of its fuel, but is of a more complex design, one that the Varakans and Aarut are now belatedly trying to master themselves. It is a bulkier weapon, and the Furotocans have not yet overcome the problem of delivery.

The next nuclear attacks are by the Varakans again. Two smaller scale Uranium devices are used on the Sarvonian front line, carried by inconspicuous medium-size jet bombers, blasting Furotocan positions in support of Marzhung advances. Results are mixed - the Allies succeed in irradiating more of their own troops than the enemy. But not much of Sarvonia is left unconquered as winter sets in.

Tiandishi remains occupied with Shynists and Krashenists, a problem made worse by the failure of Varakan power in [India]. Huiyan-Yanshi and Takaraji are now concerned with economic problems resulting from the western war, and with matching the electronics, jet propulsion and nuclear technology that have been pushed so far ahead in the west.

The Matac Empire has no hope of completing the conquest of the [Amazon basin]. It is forced to accept a peace that grants some new territory, but grants even more to the Amasans and Hygurans. For the first time, all of [South America] is officially divided up between centralised powers, not that it makes much difference to the more remote tribes of the interior.

1962: Desperation

All of [Europe] is suffering the side-effects of the war. The Thessen Union still remains neutral. But the Ustri Kingdom (Switzerland), although it has been a neutral power for around two centuries, now shows signs of a making surprise late entry to war on the Furotocan side. Ustri is in the grip of pro-Furotocan democratic reforms, and has its own reasons for wanting to prevent total Allied domination of [Europe].

In the Far East, a newly-elected government in Huiyan begins making threatening statements towards the Allies, and once again builds up forces on the border of Varaka's Ihrzul Katan (Mongolia). Public sentiment is with the Furotocan cause, especially after news of the Allied nuclear attacks and death camps. Huiyan leaders are concerned about the kind of world an Allied victory will bring - probably not conductive to their long-term plans for overseas industrial entrepreneuring. The Yanshi leadership shares the same concerns, but it splits with Huiyan over tangling with the Allies. The Takaraji are not happy with Huiyan's stance either, but so long as the Yanshi fleet remains neutral, they remain more concerned about their northern frontier with Marzhung-Sezvyr.

In New Aarut, ongoing arguments over autonomy lead to insurrection. Some of the Aarut federal governors are taken prisoner, accused of various devious schemes. A provisional Continental Federation is declared, with the goal of ending the cycle of unrest, restoring peace and allowing the colonial territories to fully control their own economies. But things quickly get out of hand, as radical liberals, anarchists, and Krashenist-Jurancist factions try to take a share of power. Pro-native guerrillas and terrorist groups take advantage. Aarut loyalists plea for reinforcements to prevent a complete breakdown. The Aarut know this would mean stripping soldiers from other fronts...

It's all good news for the Furotocans, who manage a surprising advance into Athistoka (Turkey / Kurdistan) and even cross the border into Hannuria (Lebanon), occupied by Varakans since the start of the war. Now the Varakan hold on [Cyprus] seems vulnerable. There is simultaneous fighting in [Libya].

The Marzhung advance sluggishly in Sarvonia - overextended, harassed by rebels, and with the Varakans unable to provide vital supplies. The westernmost portion of Sarvonia holds out.

Seven years into the war, all sides are exhausted. The majority of fronts are now in stalemate. There is a sense that the war is grinding down to its conclusion. But all sides want a fitting reward for their efforts. There is still the hope of achieving something spectacular that could change everything...

The Furotocans finally launch their own nuclear attack, with a slow but very long-range and high-altitude bomber, under cover of electronics warfare and escorted by new long-range jet escort fighters. The target is Izarih, so-called 'Tank City' (Esfahan, Iran). Despite frequent run-ins with Varakan jets, the attack is a success, although most escorts do not have fuel to return to Pelonar (north-west Turkey). The dramatic night-time detonation of the Plutonium implosion-type device is captured on colour film by Furotocan bomber crews and is soon shown in newsreels. The strike on the 'industrial' target causes an estimated 60,000 deaths, and provokes a mixed reaction from the rest of the world.

In the years head, the Varakans would always claim to have shot down a separate nuclear strike attempt by the Furotocans, but this is never conclusively proved to the outside world. In any case, the Furotocans now claim to have another weapon ready for use, and promise nuclear retaliation against any Allied territory. But as it happens, the next device used by the Allies is against their own territory - the Varakans nuke a stronghold of Wainist fanatics in [Delhi].

The Aarut Federation wavers. Its leaders are worried about another three or four years of war, worried about potential nuclear attacks against the Aarut homeland, and worried about sacrificing the unity of the Federation for the questionable war aims of the Allies. And so they begin separate and secret peace negotiations. A deal is agreed fairly quickly - the Aarut will keep a base at [Gibraltar], already under construction, and keep hold of islands in the [Atlantic], but will withdraw from [North Africa] and the rest of the [Mediterranean], allow Furotocan trade in the [Atlantic] after the war, and finally agree to the idea of self determination for all Amestrian and other [Baltic] territories. The Aarut risk a tricky entanglement with the remaining Allies on some fronts, but they see no other choice.

The Allies are naturally outraged, especially the Argines, who ensure the Straights of [Gibraltar] remain closed, and even move troops into [Morocco] as the Aarut begin to retreat. But as the Aarut fleet moves back into the [Atlantic], the Furotocans venture into the western [Mediterranean] and send support to rebels in Nemarthia (Spain).

The Roskians vow to fight on alone from their [Baltic] strongholds against Ponebian and Amestrian 'terrorists'.

The Marzhung, shaken by recent events, and not quite willing to pursue total war in [Europe] with unresolved issues in [Asia], convince the Varakans to join them on the negotiation table with the Furotocans. But the Furotocans still insist on pre-war borders, meaning the liberation of all of Sarvonia, including the [Caucasus]. The war drags on...

The Furotocans now believe that the Varakan threat can be diminished before a final all-out effort is made to liberate Sarvonia and end the war. They have been conspiring for some time with Varakan rebels and moderates, and in the wake of the strike on Izarih, they try to coordinate a full scale revolution. But they fail, as double agents reveal their true colours and hard-line militarists simply tighten their grip. More cities fall into rebel hands behind the lines, but the fronts in Athistoka and Hannuria are held by the Varakans with Manzuru reinforcement. The Furotocans face a dire fuel shortage in the deserts of [Libya], and despite having superior weapons including new anti-tank rockets, they find themselves outmanoeuvred by the Varakans.

As the year ends, the Huiyan generals show they weren't just bluffing. Huiyan tanks roll into the Ihrzul Katan (Mongolia) and cross into the Tuizen Katan (Sinkiang). Although lacking experience and having inferior weapons, the Huiyan forces make rapid progress. Varaka's eastern border garrisons had been cannibalised years previously. Ihrzul and Tuizen rebels join the fight. This triggers another wave of unrest throughout Varaka's eastern territory. Marzhung-Sezvyr can only send a token gesture of assistance. Yanshi does nothing, and the other Far East powers offer official protests, but otherwise stay out of things.

1963: Cessation

The Aarut reinforce [North America] with battle-hardened veterans and the latest military equipment they had been saving for [European] fronts. By appealing to both loyalists and moderate reformists, they soon isolate the New Aarut radicals and within a few months are able to restore relative order, although some things have now changed irreversibly.

Back in [Eurasia], its seems like it will be just another year of war. But peace talks resume in early spring, led by Reveis Tevursck, the charismatic leader-elect of Urgury. To the surprise of all, a deal is reached...

The treaty of Pelonar (Istanbul) - dubbed the 'Great Betrayal' by some - grants liberation to most Furotocan territory, but recognises Poneb's earlier separate armistice as valid, thus allowing two-thirds of former Poneb to be absorbed into the Greater Progressive Union of Marzhung-Sezvyr. Sarvonia also loses all territory between the [Don] and [Volga], and some of the southern [Caucasus], losing roughly a quarter of its former size. The Varakans are forced to return to pre-war borders, plus the [Sinai] and gains in the [Caucasus], and accept self-determination for the Irzhul in the east. The Varakans accept they have lost the propaganda war, and are of course eager to concentrate on crushing long-running rebellions elsewhere.

Furotocan armies cautiously follow up behind the withdrawing Varakans and Marzhung.

As for [Africa], there is to be self-determination for former Tezanian and Yansalan territory (north Africa), but the treaty gets fuzzy on the rest of the continent. The Manzuru are basically left free to keep their massive gains of territory, and they have a seemingly unlimited supply of tribal recruits to expend in keeping control of the post-Tezanian badlands.

This treaty does not include Argine Union, which shows no interest in peace, and shows every intention of fighting on alone. Nor does the treaty cover the Rosk Empire, which although almost irrelevant by comparison is still causing problems in the [Baltic].

With grim determination, the Furotocans gradually build up forces against the Argine Union, in northern [Italy], in Nemarthia (Spain), and Ustri (Switzerland). The Thessen Union (Germany) belatedly joins the war effort. The Argines attack first, fanatically, but expend hundreds of thousands more lives, lose many of their tanks and planes, and still cannot break through the [Alps]. The Furotocans and friends face less resistance when they do attack, but the strength of Argine apocalyptical propaganda ensures it will never be easy.

It is arguably the most gruelling and the most tragic episode of the entire war, especially for the 1.5 million fatalities of the campaign who had survived eight years of conflict up till that point. Despite constant hopes and rumours of renegade forces coming to the rescue, the Aarut and other former Allies honour the treaties and leave Argines to their fate.

1964: Restitution

The Argines do not admit defeat until only a few strongholds on the [Atlantic] coast are left. The Furotocans consider deploying a nuclear weapon - but by that time many formerly-scenic Argine cities are already left in ruins. The Argines have made their apocalyptic prophesies come true. But instead of oblivion, the survivors now find the Aarut and Furotocans calmly negotiating over their future.

Roskian hard-liners refuse to give up their final strongholds in [Estonia/Lithuania], and some ports and islands remain in a passive state of siege for another year - roughly a decade since the start of the war - until final negotiations are made. But, by summer of 1964, the formal hostilities in [Eurasia] are finally over.

...

The Dawn of the Nuclear Age

The Varakans were the first to seriously pursue nuclear fission, both experimentally and for use in war. They were also the first to begin the painstaking task of making enriched Uranium. Their nuclear program was in full flow by 1957, and seemed to gather the most eccentric - although without a doubt highly talented - physicists from across [Asia]. A delegation of Aarut physicists joined the same year, and brought a slightly more conservative approach.

The Varakans wanted as many nuclear weapons as soon as possible. The Aarut and Marzhung agreed. In 1958 they settled on developing a reliable Uranium collision-detonation device and devoted all their resources to this goal. Most of the work was done in remote parts of the Varakan Empire. The Allies combined their supplies of Uranium - Plutonium had been briefly investigated, but was discounted for various reasons.

The Furotocans began work in 1957, although it took a little longer for their leaders to allocate the necessary resources. With no significant stockpiles of Uranium, they took Plutonium more seriously, although it soon became clear that a Plutonium bomb would not be so simple.

Pre-war refugees were prominent in the Furotocan program. It was the insight of a Panto-Aarut physicist, someone who had fled from violence in New Aarut, that lead to the development of the implosion-detonation device.

None of the wartime weapons exceeded 20 Kilotons. But by the 1970's, the Varakans and Furotocans are testing Megaton devices. New kinds of nuclear weapons soon exceed the power to obliterate the largest metropolitan area. Meanwhile older designs are miniaturised for 'tactical' use in missiles and even artillery shells.

The Furotocans always suffer a lack of suitable testing grounds, and post-war test programs are often undone by environmental protests. As a result, by 1985 there is some doubt about the actual effectiveness of the Furotocan nuclear stockpile. By contrast, the Varakans and Marzhung-Sezvyr have abundant wastelands, while the Aarut, Takaraji and Yanshi-Huiyan all have remote islands to choose from. By 1985 there have been roughly a thousand nuclear detonations of all kinds.

Nuclear power is of course harnessed for other uses. By 1970 the Furotocans build the first nuclear subs with global range. Aarut and the Far Eastern powers follow suit. Nuclear power stations are also built by all major powers - except the Varakans, who have abundant oil and gas - but in the 1970's there are reactor leaks in both the Aarut Federation and Marzhung-Sezvyr. This adds to the lingering fallout from all the combined nuclear testing. The Furotocans and the successors of Yanshi-Huiyan are faced with troublesome anti-nuclear campaigns.

By 1985, the combined nuclear arsenal of the world is considered enough to destroy most life on the planet.

The Post-War World, 1964-1985

The war ends in controversy. The peace is seen as a temporary pause for rebuilding and recovery before the final true war begins. Insurgency continues in [India], [England], [Siberia], [southern USA], and [western China]. Much of [Africa] is still in chaos following the collapse of the Empire of Tezan.

The Varakans are conscious that their millions of war dead have simply sponsored the rise of Marzhung-Sezvyr, which is perhaps the only clear winner of the war. In the years ahead, many more losses are suffered just to keep the Empire together.

The Krashenists of [India] unite and eventually force a cease fire with their neighbours. The new Kajiri state claims most of the subcontinent. In opposition, the Takaraiji continue to support the anti-Krashenist Zulhara Union in the south, while Tiandishi is forced to accept an annoying Krashenist enclave in (Burma). But ironically, with the fighting over, Krashenist politics fail to live up to the many promises that were made. Krashenist influence gradually weakens.

Garakal rebels (southern Arabia) continue to receive covert support from abroad and eventually force a partial withdrawal of the Varakans. But the Varakans are careful to hold on the most valuable oilfields. They continue to dominate the world oil market, which grows exponentially with a sharp post-war rise in automobiles and passenger aircraft. Oil sales to the hated Furotocan countries prove most profitable of all. The income keeps the military regime in place and funds ongoing modernisation of the military.

The Greater Progressive Union of Marzhung-Sezvyr also becomes a major oil trader alongside the Takaraji. The ongoing Sezvyr rebellions are a tool for both sides to compete for more resources in [Siberia].

There are rapid developments in electronics, building on wartime breakthroughs. The Furotocans lead the way. True television arrives from the Far East - the Furotocans soon adapt it for full colour, but even then it is almost overshadowed by a Furotocan tele-text system, which remains the standard format for news broadcasting. By 1975 there are several competing computer standards - Furotocan, Takaraji, Aarut, and Yanshi-Huiyan. By 1985, one of the Furotocan standards emerges as world leader, thanks to much foreign investment. By that time there are also computer networks in [Europe] and the Far East, each using existing telephone lines. Medical technology evolves at a similar pace.

The Takaraji and Yanshi continue to lead the way in the field of rocketry. The atmosphere is no longer the limit. Imaginations turn towards the great beyond... The Takaraji launch the world's first satellite in 1968. The Yanshi soon follow, and the Varakans, Tiandishi, Aarut and Furotocans would all launch satellites by 1985. But in 1979, the first attempt at manned space flight by the Yanshi ends in embarrassing tragedy. Public backlash contributes to political upheaval. Yanshi and Huiyan had never reconciled since Huiyan's 1962 incursion into Irzhul territory. A new order now arises - Yanshi, Huiyan and the Lujin Protectorate (Machuria) reorganise themselves as a close-knit alliance of smaller states, partly inspired by the emerging post-war Furotocan sphere in [Europe], called the Daianshi. This alliance peruses of policy of supporting independent - but closely allied - republics from former 'protectorates' and colonies along the [Pacific] rim, partly to undermine the Takaraji imperial system.

A post-war merger of Furotocan electronics and Far Eastern rocketry leads to the first nuclear missiles. The Furotocans eagerly peruse this line of 'deterrence', in fear of Varakan air defences - the Varakans not only catch up with anti-air missiles but remain world leaders in aeronautics, with the first supersonic jet fighters, and later, supersonic nuclear bombers, a side project of which is a breed of supersonic air liners. These glamorous technical triumphs do much to offset Varaka's negative image in the decades after the war.

Gradually, however, the advantages of nuclear missiles become clear to all. Some powers keep nuclear bombers as a backup, but the Varakans, Furotocans, Marzhung-Sezvyr, Aarut, Takaraji, Dianshi and Tiandishi all have some form of nuclear missiles by 1980. The Furotocans never forget the experience of [Naples], and despite their libertarian ideology, it is they who stockpile the greatest number of warheads.

The Aarut Federation never restores relations with the former Allies. It goes down the path of moderate democratic reform, slowly dismantling the last vestiges of imperialism, and slowly forming a kind of friendship with the Furotocan sphere and the Far East - trade with both proves highly beneficial. The Aarut also pioneer offshore oil drilling in the [North Sea], and controversially explore for oil in the [Gulf of Mexico] and [Alaska].

The former Argine Union is not completely dismembered. The Furotocans and Aarut agree to sponsor a functional Argine republic on moderate lines. The complete defeat of Argine nationalism at the end of the war does at least make it easier for the new generation to adopt new ideas. Their country recovers slowly and steadily. Meanwhile Nemarthia asserts itself as an independent state, tied to the Aarut and Furotocans but not too close to either.

New Amestrian states come into being across the southern [Baltic], some of them more successful than others... Poneb is reduced to a relatively small and embittered republic. Although one of the fastest countries to recover and modernise, it keeps its distance from all [Eurasian] power blocs. Sarvonia cannot decide whether or not to trust the Furotocan ideal anymore. By 1985 it is in the midst of another wave of nationalism.

The Rosk Empire endures another decade of harsh military oppression. As the last such state in [Europe] it becomes something of an outcast. This contributes to complete economic failure. Eventually a reactionary movement takes power and restores a more moderate constitutional monarchy, but the country remains weakened. A few years later and amidst great controversy, Rosk joins the Aarut Federation.

There is an urge to unite for protection. Kuparta (Crimea) finally unites with Sarvonia. A new Ihrzhul republic, under military protection from Huiyan, causes upset by uniting with the Daianshi.

Power blocs continue to grow. There are no shortage of dangerous flashpoints. But the post-war period of negotiation is prolonged by a new arms race. As it turns out, no side is willing to risk hostilities again until a decisive advantage has been built up, in terms of economics, nuclear power and conventional military might. Of course, such an advantage proves elusive, especially as technological breakthroughs re-write the rules every few years. And so, various treaties are signed. New standards and guarantees are made for international trade. The Yansalan Canal is finally completed, with costs and income shared between Varaka, the Furotocans and the native Yansalans - later the 'Sarazi Republic'. Nuclear testing is limited for a while in the 1970's. The borders of [African] nations are eventually agreed upon by outsiders, even if some of these nations are mostly imaginary.

[Africa] is place where much of the rest of the world vies for influence. Many of the new states - or warlords - style themselves as true successors of Tezan and claim authority over the continent. Reunification is impossible. But not long after the war, north [Africa] stabilises into a group of post-Tezanian states, allied with each other and sharing a mix of Wainist fundamentalism, militarism and pseduo-Furotocan republicanism. They form their own power bloc which eventually extends its influence into the south and to [Arabia]. The exception is the new republic of Hurosa (Tunisia), which falls into the Furotocan orbit. The Furotocans also gain influence in parts of eastern [Africa]. The Varakans gain an ally in the Holy Empire of Qaraxir, which is in part founded by former recruits in Varakan army of [Africa] and modelled on an idealized image of Varaka. The Takaraji and Aarut maintain their own areas of interest. The expanded Manzuru Empire receives a lot of Varakan, Marzhung-Sezvyr and Takaraji investment for the exploitation of mineral reserves, though tribal conflicts always threatens to undo this. The Timuru Empire remains a peaceful backwater by comparison. Meanwhile the Hom Kingdom (Madagascar) is freed from Takaraji influence and resurfaces as a trading power.

[South America] sees little real change. Following the Matac war in the [Amazon], things are relatively peaceful. The expanded Union of Hygura is the most troublesome, as it benefits from another influx of [European] émigrés and a corresponding boom in trade and industry. Aarut and Takaraji colonies bring development and some unwelcome changes, but do not eradicate native cultures. Colmassa culture, shared by Matac and Amasa, remains a dominant force on the continent. The colonials seek an amicable working relationship, as they do not have the resources to deal with anything else.

It is a similar story in [North America]. The Takaraji hint at eventual independence for their colonies, while a steady rate of investment and development continues for now. The Aarut had already accepted the northern Washagon natives as full equals in their Federation. The Xanto Empire in the hands of Lantanist fanatics becomes something of a pariah state - it remains both a threat and an inspiration to natives on the continent.

New Aarut and the surrounding colonies take a different path with the end of the war in [Eurasia]. They are never quite disentangled from conflict with natives, rebels and rogue states. But strong Aarut intervention at the end of the [Eurasian] war leads to the formation of a fairly stable new government, a separate federation of territories known as 'Huraska' - an early Aarut name for the continent, and a word that has various meanings such as 'muddy ground' and 'great land' in the native languages. Huraska asserts its independence, grants full representation for native and mixed-race populace, and peruses a policy of destroying the disruptive 'rogue states' on its borders, with or without Aarut's blessing. Saargarat is annexed, New Rithland is broken, and Hokian (Georgia / South Carolina) is controversially occupied to end 'failed' native rule. The Huraskans also show their opposition to New Geldut (Georgia) and the trouble it causes in the south. None of this halts the unrest. But otherwise the Huraskans offer support to Aarut on the world stage, and are again closely allied to Aarut Federation by 1985.

Trade between the Far East and Huraska is especially strong. The Huraskans are quick to embrace Takaraji and Daianshi industrialism. The resources of [North America] are recognised and massive investments are made - some of this money finds its way back to Old Aarut. Wealthy tourists from the Far East take a particular interest in the [Carribean], with its tropical sunshine and the intriguing monuments of the ancient Timiquicans. Naturally, the building of a canal across the [Panama isthmus] is discussed. The local kingdom of Tinkal Timuq seems keen on the idea. Prospecting is done, but cargo ships and oil tankers grow larger in size every year, and plans have to be continually redrawn. The Yansalan (Suez) Canal has to be expanded at great expense to Varakans and Furotocans, and it remains the only such canal in operation for now.

Jet travel becomes more cost-effective. By 1970, major airports dot the globe. The Varakan supersonic jets, though impressive, never have a significant share of the market. Slower jets offer far more affordable travel - the Aarut company Targerdia sets the standard of subsonic two and four-engine passenger jets which soon become ubiquitous.

Most of the [Eurasian] powers adapt their wartime military industries to commerical goods. But even so, the economic might of the Far East now takes a clear lead over the rest of the world. Their wealth buys access to more resources in the post-war [Eurasia], [Africa] and [America], literally fuelling the cycle. 'Cities of glass' appear in Tiandishi, Daianshi and Takaraji - their skyscrapers combine new and old architectural features. The Far Eastern breed of corporatism, originating mainly in former Huiyan, spreads its tendrils across the globe - apart from Varaka and Marzhung-Sezvyr. For a while the Daianshi Shaira Corporation, employing local workers, dominates the car industry in both [Europe] and Huraska.

This kind of thing adds to social changes, particularly in western [Eurasia], where it combines with after-effects of wartime industrial efforts. Some cultures, like most of the Furotocan sphere, were never particularly reserved to begin with. But even so, the new generation is noticeably different. New technologies have many subtle effects on society. Traumatic memories of the [Eurasian] war, and the lingering threat of nuclear annihilation, lead to a kind of do-or-die attitude - or as some philosophers put it, a curious blend of apathy and determination. This is especially true in Sarvonia and the Argine Republic. Religions are either embraced fanatically or left by the wayside. By 1985, only the faiths of Wainism, Lantanism and Mingdebuism retain any influence on a global scale.

Things take a darker turn from the mid-70's onward. There is a resurgence in unrest of all kinds, this time combined with cheaper automatic weapons and explosives - many of Marzhung-Sezvyr design - and the ongoing and rather unscrupulous sale of old army surpluses by most major powers, who also naturally try to manipulate unrest in other countries for their own ends.

For some, the Taindishi Empire becomes a kind of role model - their traditional pragmatist approach seems to have the right mix of hard and soft touches at the right times. Although not quite sharing in the economic and technological boom of Daianshi and Takaraji, the Tiandishi Empire remains noticeably solid. Incidentally, Tiandishi is the birthplace of experimental electronic music, mixing traditional Far Eastern themes, which has surprising influence in [Europe].

The year 1984 brings a dramatic recession to the Far East. Over-enthusiastic investment in [Africa] and [the Americas] turns sour with the resurgence of violence, compounded by lack of safeguards in the emerging financial system. The after effects soon hit the west. Emerging space programs are abruptly stripped of cash.

There is also growing paranoia surrounding Marzhung-Sezvyr. At first glance, its mix of social industrialism with 'patriotic' militarism seems successful. It has the largest conventional military, one of the largest nuclear stockpiles, equivalent technology, and seems isolated from the emerging east-west corporate world. Many expect the Marzhung-Sezvyr to again ally with Varaka and make a play for [Eurasian] hegemony, at any cost. Nuclear testing and military manoeuvres are resumed by all sides.

In 1985 the world grapples with the conflicting prospects of technological utopia and nuclear armageddon...

Notes:

Hope you like the square brakets.

Yeah, so, umm, if anyone is still interested in this... Is anyone interested in a final era, epilogue sort of thing? Space race or nuclear war? Or both? :)

I love you daft!

Edit:
In my opinion, this last update was enough of an ending, and perfectly sets the stage for an awesome NES, if anyone wants to undertake such a large project. However, if Daft instead decides to finish this off in the same style, that would be much appreciated as well.

While I was never apart of this, I would greatly appreciate an "ending" update. I mean, this was the sole reason I joined the site, and to have a intended final update would just complete the experience of the Alternate Earth.

If nothing else, I only hope someone else(or you) has the patience and audacity to try the experiment again.

Yay! Go super ultra nationalism!:)
I'm fine with whatever you do Daft, considering that I've only been in this for 2 eras.

EDIT: posted something in wrong thread!

Thankyou for your replies. I love you too qoou :D

Wow. Epic. I had actually forgotten about this.
EDIT: When I read through I was practically jumping with joy over the Manzuru Empire's gains, although the fact that is seems to be like most of OT Africa (torn apart by tribal wars, exploited by more powerful countries) seems sad. I was also jumping for joy when I learned the Hom Kingdom was free and actually seemed to establish itself nicely. Overall, seems like a great start for a NES. had tons of fun throughout. You did a truly amazing job.
