Open Role Play Challenge: Barbarric Monty

Hi

grrr I swear there is a conspiracy stopping me from play in CFC series now :/. I downloaded wb save, unzipped it and loaded it into my wb folder. But everytime I try to click play custom scenario or even just play scenario game crashes to desktop. But when I take it out of the folder game works fine again :/. Is it because I updated to 3.19?

No, I think there was something wrong with my game. I had the same problem, I finally uninstalled everything and reinstalled this weekend and it fixed the problem. Hopefully future Open RPCs will be fine. Sorry.

I had troubles getting this to work, too. It was also crashing my game when I chose custom game. But I got it to work. What you need to do:

Follow Mad's instructions in the second post, especially the part about double-clicking the file. Select your settings and start the game, then save the game and exit. Remove the file from your world builder save folder (so it doesn't crash any more). Then open Civ4 and load like normal.

That might work. I simply downloaded the WB file to my desktop (not the WB folder) and double-clicked it. Worked just fine. BTW, I haven't opened the game since I got the new patch. All the other games are running without problems, so I guess this one should too.

Hi

No worries, doing that dbl click thingy seemed to work. But unfortuantely it meant I cant preolode varietas first. Also a cpl of questions about just opening game from save file then opening in wb and saving it.

I tried that in the PC pericles game since it is as a gamesave and not wb save. But changing speed when it is in as scenario messed up the turns. Also default diff is emperor it looks like and before people have mentioned if a scenario is set for a high dif and you set it to a lower dif it wont work right and ai will still get their higer diff bonuses--would that happen here too?

Barbaric Monty Check point 1

2nd try, I messed up the first, I thought 2 warriors would be enough to defend the city, they were for the first 8 archers, but eventually they fell to a massed attack, as did the production from the mines.

Atmept 2, doing much better,

Spoiler :
I haven't uncovered all the land as yet, but I have an idea as to most of it, sending out my 2 guerrilla archers to uncover the rest. I've had some great random luck, I've gotten the health event, after I whipped a worker :faint:, but received 2 health boost. I've also popped tin in one mine as well as gold. :trophy:

Spoiler :

I've researched animal husbandry, as you can see we have horses in BFC.

I've been able to build both Stonehenge, and The Great Wall, so no more barb problems. I've lost one worker to a barb warrior, when I foolishly moved it next to it, assuming it'd suicide on the city, and not take my worker

Research so far has been Archery 1st, then mining, bronze working, Agriculture part, changed to Masonry (build Great Wall), Finish Agriculture, Animal Husbandry.

As I now have stone in BFC 3rd ring, I'll look to build settlers, workers, and Pyramids. Trying for GLH in 2nd city. I'm going to use a Specialist Economy/farm economy. So spam cities, farms, mines and conquer the world.

I've basically uncovered my homelands, I've mapped out a few city sites, sending Archers to fog bust them, Trying for GLH in my 2nd city, in the North, the 3rd city, will be my settler/worker pump, while the capital works on wonders to spam.

Spoiler :

Basic strategy from here, is to settle out the lands, tech away in SPLENDID isolation, and get those Alters up and running, so CoL's here I come.

Next will be check point 2, the Meeting and greeting of those other barbarians.

I fancy a non-standard game, gonna give this a go on monarch and try to conquer the entire old world. :D

Conquest and domination only!

Edit: For some very odd reason, having this WB save in my worldbuilder folder causes the game to crash when I click on 'play a scenario' on the main menu...wtf?

Aha, as mentioned above, saving it to somewhere else and just double clicking seems to work, weird.

Just begun and the starting rice appears to have six food standard before adding a farm?! I'm assuming that was a WB edit and not a major bug lol

Barbaric Monty Check point 2

Just a note 1st, I'm doing a no cottages variant, NO COTTAGES ALLOWED..:vomit:

I continue my settlement of my lands.

Spoiler :

2nd city has gone up, this will build the GLH, a road was built between this and Capital city, for commerce, trade, and to get the workers there. 1st great person was a profit, whom I'm holding over to build the Confucian shrine.

1210 BC, hows this for timing, 2 borders popped at the same time and popped 2 huts :wow:, one gave me 95 gold, the 2nd gave me Horseback riding. :woohoo:

420 BC I missed the Oracle, I had the stupid idea, of getting math's then CoL's and taking Bureaucracy as free tech, oh well, stupid idea, I should just have built it, and taken CoL's. I did build the Temple of Artemis though...

Spoiler :

I've built a Library for capital city, and will now just spam out settlers and workers in 1 settler, 3 worker groups at size 9, as I'm in Representation, all while running 2 scientists. 310 BC My 1st Great Scientist has arrived, I'll build an academy. Base science is running at 27.75, academy gives 13.375:science: where as a settled Great Scientist will only give 9:science: +1:hammers:

240 BC I chop out the remaining turns on the GLH, went rather late, but I got it. 3 cities, research at 50:science: and rising, settle on coast mainly now for trade routes.

140 BC I found Confucianism, in my 4th newly settled city. Not planning this out too well, but oh well. I convert. Now its Pottery , no I haven't got it yet, then organized religion, and onto Civil Service. Might stop off at metal Casting 1st.

Confucianism beat my Missionary to Capital city,, I'll have to hold it for a new city now. I'll also shrine the city with my Great Profit.

570 AD The 1st great Person is born overseas, and its a Scientist. I'm aiming to Bulb Theology now with my Great Profit, then build Apostolic palace under Confucianism. After that, its a run at Literature, Music, Civil Service, and bulb Philosophy/Liberalism.

605 AD My 1st Great General is born overseas [party] As well, I only just notice, the Byzantine Civilization was just destroyed...Rut Roh.

Spoiler :

Oh well, it is aggressive, and raging barbarians. I'd better be careful come Astronomy. I'd better stop slacking off so much and get my research focused.

1035 AD I receive another technology from a hut popped with Culture, MUSIC and I had just started to research it. I also received the Great Artist associated with Music.

 I've lost a total of 6 Trireme's to Barbarian Galley's so far, most at 88% odds, its running at 50/50 when I attack.

1125 AD I lose the race for the Mausoleum of Massalos, should really have aimed harder at that one. Research is 150:science: and rising at 30 %

1275 AD I do a Dual bulb of Education, no sense in messing about now, I now set research to Compass, as I've achieved the +2 commerce harbour event, and then optics/Astronomy to open up overseas trade, or not.

1380 AD I miss the Statue of Zeus by 1 TURN :gripe:, so far I've missed the Oracle, M of M, and the Statue of Zeus Ho hum..I guess I'll have to Deficit research now.

1394 AD Optics is in, I upgrade 2 Caravels, and go see how I stand in this world, there was only recently a spat of 3 Great Generals being born, so a war must have erupted. I've also popped a great Engineer, who can either Rush the Taj Mahal, if I'm in a race , or I'll use it on Statue of Liberty.

As such, I've started Astronomy, 34 turns, and might change if I need to. Building Universities, where able, 9 Libraries are required for the Knowledge quest, and I'm yet to fully settle the main land, due to my wonder spamming.

1404 AD I meet our first 2 Civ's, they are in order

Spoiler :
GHENGIS KHAN!!!!!

followed by

Spoiler :
Bin Al Saladin

ONLY has 17 cities..only.

I panic at first, thinking, OMFG!!! I'm level with them, then I realize, no tech trading.

Next up I meet

Spoiler :
Charlemagne

Who's the Destroyer of The Byzantine Empire and has 21 cities.

I'm a bit behind on the city count so far. 3 religions, 3 Opponents.

1416 AD What a HUGE YEAR in meeting opponents, I meet 4 of them at once.

This was HUGE

I meet first

Spoiler :
Alexander

I then meet

Spoiler :
RAGNAR

Next in line is;

Spoiler :
Shaka

lastly I meet, Guess where this is going..I dare ya, go on I double dare you..give up....

Spoiler :

The MASTER OF ALL 3

Spoiler :

TOKUGAWA

Who also has 21 cities, Protective is winning so far.

well, lastly a list of tech's they can research, it makes for a good laugh, as ½ don't even have Alphabet as yet.

Spoiler :

lol, 6/7 don't even have Alphabet, 6/7 don't have Compass, only Saladin has both of them, and NO ONE is as far as Paper.

My main threat is either a Domination win to one, well, really that's it.

Tad behind on the city count, my 9 to there's, but trade routes help offset the cost. Plus I can spam many more cities now..many more.

Relations between them all, most important I guess, have to arrange diplomacy now.

Spoiler :

So ends Check point 2, its onto Check point 3, determination of Victory conditions.

Barbaric Monty Check point 3

Having found 7/7 remaining opponents, I continue on with my wonder spamming and settling of lands.

Spoiler :

I 1st tried giving gold to Saladin to enable a map trade, but no go joe, same with Khan, gave up 250 gold in all, no trades for maps.

I complete Circumnavigation bonus, and really just spam settlers, cities workers and archers for garrison duty.

1600 AD I've only just made it to Liberalism, and beaten Saladin by 3 turns. I'm going to have to settle for constitution as my free tech, as I rushed to research Divine right, to enable the palace of Versailles. I've got an engineer in place, but I want to wait till I've got access to marble as well, to double the :hammers:.

Spoiler :

I built the Taj Mahal, the next turn, after I took it off Science only.. silly me, sitting 1 off such a wonder, but no one else had Nationalism, so :p

Since then, I've been furiously building settlers, Crossbowmen, and sending them down to the lower continent. I won't get to settle it all, but I've tried to settle along the coast in most places, with the Palace of Versailles going in the Northern Central part of the Island. I've had to use 1 saved Engineer to rush this, as Saladin's had Divine right for a number of turns.

The lower land mass is just HUGE. I really messed up assuming the starting one was larger, now I'm having to rush settle. Science has slipped from a stable 70% to 30% in a golden age, which won't be sustained.

Settling another city, in my mad settler spam, I received Drama as a gift from the grateful villagers.

Spoiler :

Looks like Saladin, has taken a disliking to my being Confucian, he has 4 Galleons stationed off shore from Moai statues.

I beat back the sea borne assault from Saladin, I'm going to whip a Castle in that city, as the A.I. Usually will obstinately attack one city over seas to the ignorance of all others. I renamed it Moai statues as I usually do, helps find specific cities I find.

Spoiler :
The 2 maces who were drafted, will now go to capture some barbarian cities on the lower land mass.

ITS FREAKING HUGE

O.K. I entered world builder, and made 1 small alteration, I changed the Mountain/Wheat, to a Grassland/wheat tile, though it still show's in the ocean, maybe next turn it won't.

My settling rush has come to a finish, I've crashed my economy from 70% in the Green, to 0% in the red, no more new cities till I build Versailles, and forbidden palace is selected, probably an ex barbarian city with some population to whip.

Many new cities don't even have a defender, I've been just rushing over settlers, and relying on the great wall to stop barbs, and the A.I.'s focus on each other to get by. Saladin obviously took offense at my rapid expansion. Currently on Democracy in 15 turns for the Statue of Liberty.

I'm now up to 24 cities, and still have many MANY MANY to settle as yet, I'm building Versailles in 35 turns in 1 city, and still have to capture a barb city to put the Forbidden palace into, or maybe settle one slightly north of the southern Boundary of the continent.

This is what I call 'R.E.L.A.X.' or Rapid Early/Late Anamorphic eXpansion. ;) make up my own now.

After I said, no more cities, I settled 3 more, 2 on the starting land mass, and 1 more to join up on the lower land mass. So now I'm up to 27 cities, really I should be over 40 by now.

1688 AD I've just settled 2 more cities, 2 one tile island cities that take in sea food. With the Great lighthouse and the +2 trade routes, and free markets +1 trade routes, I saw my income jump by 15-20 gold/turn for each city, got to spam more of them, and I'm delaying Corporations for as long as possible (obsoletes Great Lighthouse).

Spoiler :

1732 AD I finally build the Palace of Versailles, in my Versailles city, its about time, I've been sweating on that build for so long. Its allowed me to raise my science slider to 20%, as well I've built up a cash reserve for random events such as the inflation when running free market, 25% reduction would be quite substantial, as well, as the mass upgrading of Muskets to Rifles and rush buying of Barracks etc.

1781 AD I switch to Slavery for 5 turns, 1st turn in I whip all building available, unless close under 5 turns and major production city. Majority of whips are for Granary, Sacrificial Alters, or Forges, a couple of Banks, Markets or Grocers were also whipped. I continue to settle my continents
Spoiler :
MASSIVE SOUTHERN ISLAND MASS
by either capturing barbarian cities, and Pillaging the cottages.

Spoiler :

or by spamming more settlers in my RELAX settlement mode. I finally see the light at the end of the settlement tunnel, with the southern coast coming into settlement range.

34 cities settled, 39 cities in total, and still rising, really I should be at the 70 mark by now, or finished settling. Maybe a few 3 off shore colonies, or more if I deem it financially viable. The A.I.'s have a lot of land yet to settle below them, and Tokugawa, has Declared war on Charlemagne, I hope Saladin gets involved, as he's now really ramping up his research, along with Tokugawa. Charlemagne, seems to have bisected Saladins empire, or they may just have dog piled into

Spoiler :

KHAN!!!!!

1783 AD I culture pop another hut, for a
Spoiler :
Warrior

I've now settled my designated forbidden palace city, I just need to grow it and build the forbidden palace, and I'm set. I had just hit the Production statistic No 1 before, but with my whipping, I have fallen back to No 2 position. Soon enough I'll be No 1 again, I've just queued Levy's in all available cities, with steam power coming in, and once I have Railroad, I'll look at corportations to enable Mining Inc, which will boost my production through the roof.

Spoiler :

This is with many resources still to be hooked up.

1796 AD Charlemagne had Capitulated to Tokugawa, who then has proceeded to spin off a vassal in Wang Kon. Rut Roh, I think we have a monster on my hands, Charlemagne was huge across the middle of the other continent.

1807 AD I finally complete the Statue of Liberty, I go from -30 gold in the red @ 40% science, to +5 in the green, I now go about and adjust all my cities. I have Saladin at Pleased, even though I've refused to stop trading with Tokie's vassals, Mr Toku is only Cautious, but has greater demerits with Saladin, then me. I'm track for Machineguns, then Probably assembly line for the Factory spam, but Corporations would be first for Mining Inc. Then its a run at Electricity, Radio wonders possibly Mass Media, as there is only 1 wonder of hit movies, singles, Broadway shows.

After going around and adjust all the cities, and changing civics to Nationalism, which is cheaper, I find I'm +73:gold: in the green. I could adjust spy points to see what they are researching, but no real point. Tokugawa still hasn't got Education, and neither has Democracy.. :science: had risen to over 1100/turn and still rising, its going to breach 5K folks, just you wait and see.

I capture one of the remaining barbarian cities in the southern reaches of my continent, not a bad haul, 1 worker, lots of cottages to pillage  and this built into city.

Spoiler :

Now there is only 1 city remaining in the southern most extremes.

1823 AD with the Taking of Assyrian, I complete my take over of the continent, no more cities are to be had, only ones I've ear marked out to be settled. I picked up 4 workers for my efforts, and many roads were built across the southern land mass.

I initiate another round of Whipping, Alters, Granaries, lighthouses are mostly what's built. This brings the gold back into the green. I also start on the 9 Colosseum Quest, should only take 12 turns max for most to be built.

I've just researched corporations, I've taken a hit on the Trade routes, but I can now build Mining Corp and Sids Sushi, for greater production and food. Another hut has popped due to culture, giving me a Scout. I may just send him about the other continent, looking about, seeing what's what.

I've selected Assembly line as the next tech, as it enables Factories, more production, the Pentagon, and infantry for defense.

I end up whipping 10 Colosseums to win the Quest, and take the +1 happy per /Colosseum, well I am BARBARIC :trouble:

Spoiler :

I end Check point 3 here, founding Mining corp in my wall street city, which I now can build Wall street national wonder in, hopefully I'll get to build the Kong Mao, but if not, the spamming of Mining Corporation and Sids Sushi corporation will more then make up for that. Combine that with moving my capital there, and Mucho gold Senor. :traderoute:

Spoiler :

you'll notice how the :hammers: have risen from last time. The cost differences are due to either having a courthouse (sacrificial Alter) or not having one.

I've chosen my Victory condition, it'll be a space race victory. I enjoy utilizing the full extent of the 'no cottages Economy', and with Sids Sushi (Medicine) and Mining Inc (3 turns away) I've got this game won, even if Tokugawa, should try to invade, I'll have such a naval advantage, that he won't even reach my shores.

Check point 4, will be space, or the grave.

Barbaric Monty Check point 4 Part 1

I begin this round with 17 turns remaining on industrialism, Whipping out buildings all over my lands, and looking to spam at least another 10-15 cities.

Spoiler :
To this end, I'm building workers, settlers, and riflemen/Machineguns for defense. Workers are grouped into 3's and sent out to Railroad the territory, build farms, or get new cities up and running. Worker levels

Spoiler :

I really need over 60 workers, my main production, is on my starting land mass. Here I've got my Ironworks city, Science City, and Wall Street/capital. Most cities here, are major production cities, they'll build either levy's now, and/or factories when available. Then they'll go onto gold production duties, I'll close research for a while, and just Cash rush the other buildings in the Lower 2/3's of my Continental land mass.

Between whipping, the Crazy growth rates I'm achieving, +10 food/turn in many cities, whipping and cash rushing, I hope to have most cities up on a par level within 100 yr's. Science rate of 5K +:science: is aimed for, as well as a cash rate of +5K:gold:. Spamming Mining Inc:hammers: and Sids Sushi:food: to all cities, will help ensure the meeting of this goal.

Looking at the Tech's they can research, I've got a lead, Tokugawa, hasn't even got Gunpowder, and Saladin hasn't gotten steel as yet. Both can do Electricity, but I'd assume they'd be going for Rifling/Industrialism or Steel/Railroads.

Spoiler :

1834 AD I have a panic attack, as Shaka declares war upon me, now I've got the Wrath of Tokugawa upon my head,
Spoiler :
But no, :faint:, Shaka's broken free, and declared on his own
I whip, draft, and make money. Tokugawa, asked me 5 turns ago to adopt Mercantilism, and its killed my research and economy, I'm getting out NOW!!! Oh yeah upgraded a few Crossbow's to Machineguns as well.

I've found Tokugawa's stack, mostly out dated troops, but there's a lot of them. All in the City he's taken From Charlemagne.

Spoiler :

I wipe out Shaka's out dated attacking stack with the loss of 1 rifleman @ 76% odds :gripe: and 1 cannon, at similar odds of 66%. No matter, the coupe de Grasse, was given by an ARCHER...

Stupid A.I. I count at least 10 Galleons in most of Saladin's coastal cities, with the assorted caravels, hate to think what I'd face once he gets Combustion, might have to sink them all 1st. :nono: I'll stay friendly with him. I also receive the 'Wounded mercy” cop out from war, of course I took it, Dumb Shaka, attacked Moai Statues, my 'closest city' to his land mass. It has a big problem with its path finding, Charlemagne has rifling now as well.

1846 AD I start factories in all my cities, they virtually all whip what ever they could the move before, or this move, to give a boost to Factory production. I'm also spamming Mining corp to my lower 2/3's of the continent. Alexander had managed to succeed in settling a city on my lower land mass, but I'll try flip it with Culture, as he's got nothing to steal. After factory builds, I'm going to settle the rest of the small island network, in the middle of continent. Tokugawa's also taken the barbarian city to my north, which I've virtually ignored, as it had marginal resources.

Research path is as follows;

Spoiler :

this is to be followed by a beeline to Superconductors and the research laboratories. Right now, BEFORE Biology, I have some cities growing at +13 food/turn, and it'll just get completely ridiculous post Biology, I have to constantly troll through all my cities and keep on beating them down. This Sacrificial Alter is Seriously over powered, I have health coming out my ears, and Happy galore, boosted further by the Hits wonders I'm going for.

I've found Saladin's stack of doom, it would seem to be facing off against Charlemagne, or Tokugawa and his vassals. It seems to be trapped in his Northern ½ of his empire though. I signed a defense pact with Saladin, when he came by about 10 turns ago, it might have been a bad idea.

Spoiler :

Ragnar seems to be facing towards Saladin's SoD, as is Tokugawa's, in Charlemagne's eastern most city towards Saladin. Thing is, Tokugawa, is at a significant tech disadvantage, and I don't think his numbers would over come it.

Scientific method is in, and do we have oil, yes, one off shore, 1 in southern land mass, and 1 in the Arctic island above me...Sheeezzeee :dubious:

Looks like Tokugawa's losing his touch, Ragnar's just announced he's leaving the happy fold, that makes 2 along with Shaka, I expect Charlemagne won't get away though, as he's got occupying troops in his cities. Saladin, immediately comes by, and 'requests' that I cancel my deals with the Viking, Grown a pair, now Tokugawa's out of the Picture.

Ragnar's just spun off his own Vassal, Lincon continental, or is that incontinentia??. Anyway, they both just went into Emancipation. Looks like I might need the Cultural slider.

No Monty python quotes

He has a wife you know, do you want to know what her name is?? Guards Snigger
Inconnententia....INCONNENTIA BUTTOCKS

1866 AD I get the shock of my life, all out war breaks out, its Tokugawa's clan V's Saladin and his Crony, myself included. Looks like Tokugawa's gone and declared war upon Saladin, and I've been dragged into it. Well, its an excuse to take a city of 2 that's bothering me. I really need an oil based navy.

Spoiler :

1st turn of the war, I take Alexanders city based upon my continent, wasn't even defended and clean up the last Barbarian city, which has grown to size 2. I'm now organizing to take Tokugawa's barbarian city that he captured to the west of my norther marble out post. Also 1 or 2 vassal's have a small city up there it seems.

True to A.I. War Planning, Saladin's captured a city as well in the 1st day of the war as well.

How's this for stupid slavishly following programming, (like it has a choice), Alexander has just spent the past 4 turns attacking my scout with a catapult, and only now, has destroyed it with a knight. OOOOOoooooOOOOO big loss, makes up for that city and 2 workers Alexander. Tokugawa's about to lose a city as well.

1879 AD the War doesn't seem to be going well for Saladin, he's losing cities, and power rating is dropping. Tokugawa seems to be not doing to well either, as he keeps dropping his asking price for peace with me, now its only the City of Naria. I'm nearly 3 times my nearest and dearest in production, 2nd in crop yield, 1st in land.

Spoiler :

I've been able to make peace with Tokugawa for the price of 200 gold, he was making 54 gold/ turn himself and I'm losing money :wow: Currently I have espionage into him and he's researching Steel, probably going for combustion, as was Saladin. With peace achieved, the taking of 3 cities, for the loss of 1 cannon and 2 fishing boats, all very satisfactory. Of the troops I saw, it was 1 Frigate which pillaged the 2 fishing boats, and sunk a Trireme as well. Whooptie do.

The Review-O.K. I had to have a break, more like some sleep, as it was 6:43 AM in the Morning, I'd been up all night and didn't even realize it. Been thinking about the situation, looks like I'll have to try Co-exist with Mr 10% at pleased. This means adopting his favourate civic.

Civic's- Mercantilism, which means foreign corporations have no effect, but domestic ones do. It'll mean no foreign trade routes, only internal ones, so I'll need to settle those small islands about my land mass. I'm going to build Sids Sushi, I'll have plenty of sea food, so population won't be a problem. I'm going to have to convert some grassland farms into workshops, for the 4:hammers: and 1:food:, I'm going to need to run many specialists, so Caste system is a must, as is the Cultural slider.

Happy- will be dealt with by mass building Theaters, I have none at moment. Colosseums, which receive +2 happy straight off (I won a quest for that, as well as +2 commerce from harbours), the Media Hits wonders will take care of that. If I need to, I can allway's adopt hereditary rule and build troops. Prefer not to, as I'll either be cash rushing in Universal suffrage, or Representation for +3:science: from specialists.

Health- I'll need to beeline Genetics (+3 health), going through Medicine (Hospitals), and Ecology for mass building of Recycling centers (No ill health from buildings).

Tech's-Current tech is combustion, for an oil based navy, If I need to I'm going to have to either sink Tokugawa's wooden navy at sea, or Beeline Fission for nuclear weapons and Nuke all HIS cottages/cities. As he won't have Ecology, he can't scrub fallout, and the tiles are useless to him. :mwaha:

Victory-, I'm going the Space race, so I'll want to build all the parts at one time, which I like doing anyway. Diplomacy will play a big part in keeping Tokugawa off my back. 2 vassals have broken free from Tokugawa, but I believe that both will be quickly brought back into the fold, its the spun off vassals, who'll cause the most/least trouble.

I now resume my settler spam, along with troops to boost my power rating, though Tokugawa would seem to be some what wary of me. Factories are starting to be completed, with my main land mass having fully completed theirs, Mining Inc is being spammed over the lower 2/3's of the continental land mass, from Versailles, along with Confucian missionaries.

Civic's, I'll drop back into Organized religion, as I'm constructing buildings mainly. The North as allway's is assigned duties of worker and settler generation, and troops production.

Workers I've brought up to 62, I have a great Merchant and a Great Engineer cooling their heals, as for Troops, I've only got 3 infantry, some cannon, rifles, etc. Not much of an army.

Spoiler :

But its better then Tokugawa's

:agree:

Thanks, for that, I continue on with my space quest.

Part 2 will follow the continuing adventure of Monty the Space Cadet.

So we pick up in the mid 1200's, the rest of the world has been met, and Supreme Leader Monty is unimpressed...
Spoiler :

However, the second man on the score chart at the moment does seem like the kind of guy we can have some fun with, so when he asks us to play ball, we say SURE, why the hell not? I'm sure we'll be able to gain our first friend in the world this way. Also, Supreme Leader Monty doesn't really care who he annoys at this point, as he has a plan.

The plan is to crush the rest of the world with our economic might, of course. What else could it be?

Since it is taking a while to get up to speed on the latest and greatest technologies, mostly because everybody has decided that sharing technologies is for losers, we've got some excess capacity for building stuff in the capital at the moment. Therefore, we build wonders. Lots of them. Here's one that I don't even plan to get much out of, but at least the University of Skankwhore gives Great Scientist points.

Eventually, even as we dropped our first four cities on the central landmass, research started to pick up and we easily took the Liberalism race. I could have held off for a long time and did something like bang out a couple more techs to get Democracy or something, but Astronomy was going give the economy a big boost. They won't trade techs, but I've got a lot of stuff to trade. Not only did the trade routes go up, but I'm also selling cows, wine, and other things for useful resources and about 30GPT at the moment.

Suddenly, I wish I had been stocking up on settlers, because I can really afford to settle about 5 cities almost immediately. Oh well, I got cracking on the builds and doubled back on the research path to start working towards economics and possibly corporation. Feudalism, Guilds, and Banking were each like 3-4 turns, which is pretty fast on Epic. I also used a prophet to bulb most of Divine Right at some point in that run, figuring that it would keep any of the AI civs from going for it and possibly building my maintenance reduing wonder.

Here's the capital a couple turns before I quit. We've got a couple wonders in there. It inspires so much pride around the nation that the people barely even care when they are whipped to death to speed up a granary in a new city.

Next up will be some more aggressive settling the central continent; completion of economics and maybe corporation; a potential diversion from the economic techs to pick up gunpowder and chemistry. It looks like Aztec Pirates could have a very long and lucrative run. Then back to the plan. Democracy should be fewer than 50 turns away, including diversions. I'm not sure what we'll do after that. I'm thinking that both Biology and Railroad will be gigantic leaps forward for the empire, but I think I'll need to see who and how many of the other guys are going to be loading up into galleons at that point.

Fun games to read!

About IPEX game:

Spoiler :
I'm always excited when I see that Tokugawa is a monster! It only happens 1 out of 1000 games I think so it's great to see him doing this well. Besides the fact he techs piss poor ofcourse :)

Anyways I might consider doing this myself :)

Barbaric Monty Check point 4 part 2

Having done the review in my last segment, I continue on with teching Combustion.

Spoiler :

1883 AD was a big year for settlement, I settled 4 Caribbean island cities that year, all end up being cash flow positive, just, but will need Mining inc and whipping to be effective. Still more cities planned. Currently building wealth, I've gifted gold to Saladin, should have done this 1st or 2nd turn of war, but I really thought he'd hold out, seems to be holding his own now, gifting more gold to help, as well as a few troops.

Ragnar came on by, demanding the 1010:gold: I'd just built under wealth, but as he's at war with Shaka, I just showed him out down the Garbage chute.

I finally have to start mass building Theaters as Emancipation unhappiness is getting too great. In my main production cities, Happy is under control, and as its a 1 or 2 turn build, they stay at top, most other cites below happy level, they are placed at the end of the queue.

Looks like Charlemagne is taking this war against Saladin rather seriously, he's starting to take the main cities of Saladin. Hopefully he'll take enough that he's able to break free of vassalage to Tokugawa, and become a real threat again on that continent. He's just taken Mecca, and with his existing reach across Saladin's lands, he'll have the begins of a new empire once more. Bearing in mind that both Ragnar and Shaka were able to break their bonds, so it's easier now.

1900 AD July  The state of the Empire at the turn of the century. 59 cities in existence, with more still to be settled on the 1 tile island masses. Nearly all cities are building infrastructure, the war continues apace on the other continent, with Saladin having been abandoned by myself as he's beyond redemption, though holding out mighty in the face of Tokugawa and Charlemagne. Too many core cities lost, its just that his opponents have probably run out of steam.

Spoiler :

I myself have managed to raise the science rate to above 1300, from where it was once languishing at 700 beakers in the red at 0%, now I'm in the green at 20% and rising. Wall Street is producing over 500 :gold: at the moment, and that's without the Confucian shrine or Sids Sushi either. Maybe I should have sent a Mining Exec to Saladin, but why let that Genie out of its bottle. Capital city, is making over 500:science:, and iron works over 156:hammers: still growing that city.

Most cities have Confucianism as state religion, those that don't are receiving missionaries as they are produced. Gang of workers are toiling all over the southern empire FINALLY. Farming jungles, Lumber milling hilltops, and workshop the plains.

Spoiler :

Some troops are being produced, but as no one has Assembly line but me, and I'm now onto Industrialization for marines/tanks, I'm not too worried, famous last words. What!! me worry, :)mad: )

Tech plan is Industrialism, then medicine, then beeline superconductors for laboratories and the 25% science boost, run max scientists in most cities and just tech away. Defense will be made up of a Submarine fleet, stationed off Tokugawa's main naval depot. I have no hope of keeping up with naval production, though I could easily, but would rather sink the troops at sea, 5 for 1 submarine, yes please. Oh I'd better insert Plastics there for the 3 gorges dam, can't miss that.

Spoiler :

As can be seen Tokugawa's a run away success, but a lot would come From Vassals, I'm really surprised that Saladin has held out this long, don't know where he's getting his production from, but would be only holed up in cities.

Really to gain a domination victory, Tokugawa's going to have to take me on, and I've been preparing for him, so BRING IT ON, LETS GET THE [party] STARTED

Having completed my report, I continue with my civilization.

1905 I build the Pentagon, so much for all those war mongers :trouble:

Spoiler :

I now start on hit Musicals in Ironworks. I actually wouldn't mind a great artist or 2 now.

July 1906 AD I decide to Belatedly support Saladin, with a gift of 100:gold:/turn, he's doing such a :goodjob: in fighting Tokugawa's Crew of Cronies, I feel so ashamed not helping out more, but sure enough, soon as I do, he'll Capitulate, and use them against me. I may just send him 20 tanks or so  I wonder what mayhem that'll create.

I make a map trade, well, really I bought his for 5 gold, I'd have happily given 500, to see how he's holding out, doing remarkably well, I'm going to gift him some tanks to help him out, it can only destroy the power on that continent, but not enough that he'll run away with it. Tokugawa doesn't have artillery as yet, so no anti tanks, but with the shear volume of troops, he'll wear them down eventually. Dumb A.I. Will just keep throwing them into the attack. I expect all to be gone within 10 turns. If he turns around and tries to use them on me, well, tough.

Spoiler :

July 1912 AD The war between Tokugawa's 2 former Vassals has come to an end, with Shaka, vassalized to Ragnar, I off loaded 8 tanks to Saladin, who's been reduced to Islands in the south, and I suppose he's used them, I''ll have to wait for the announcements.

Well General Dumb A, took one city, but lost another back to Tokugawa, so even split. I'm sending more tanks and Cannon, as he has artillery, I don't but I have industrialism which he doesn't. Yeah, prolong the war, good for business.

Did a trade with Saladin for his map again, just to update the situation, and thought i'd see what's what with Tokugawa, 59 gold he had, sell him a hit Musical, being his usual Recalcitrant self, here's what he offered.

Spoiler :

Must be really hurting in the war

not much seems to have changed, just the loss of Samarkand and the exchange of Sanshu again

Running about with my scouting tank, to see how Saladin's doing in the war, I come across Charlemagne Main stack.

Spoiler :

I think Saladin's done for now, against Tokugawa's stack he could hold out, but this, no way

1916 AD I'm finally up to what I consider the minimum amount of cities to be settled, I've now got 71, a lot of the most recent cities have been only 1 tile island cities, but they receive trade routes of +3 and +4 internally, making them cash flow positive without a sacrificial alter.

I was just about to ramp up the assistance to Saladin, but won't now, maybe I'll send them to his off shore cities, as he has so SO MANY TRANSPORTS!!!!

Sheeezzeee, I thought there was hope for Saladin, I thought he'd wiped out Charlemagne main stack, but seems not, its still there, or its another one?? dead on this part of continent now, can't get enough troops to matter in time. Oh well, kept Tokugawa's armies busy, Charlemagne actually has the more technologically advanced army, well, more of the infantry anyway.

July 1919 AD Saladin has lost his last hold out on the continent, as a desperate last resort, I gifted him my scouting tank, but all was lost. Might have a look see at the islands and see what's what.

Here's an example of my 73rd city I think, Mutal. It's cash flow positive from day one, of course spread the corps and it loses money, but got to develop it some how.

Spoiler :

I finally remembered to start the 3 gorges dam, after forgetting for 7 turns, it'll be done in 28 turns in Ironworks.

1920 I get the spy event, I could choose to declare war, but that doesn't meet my restrictions, so I choose instead to pay 588 gold and receive a Great Spy, and some points against Ragnar. I'll use this for my Space ship building Golden ages.

Spoiler :

1924 AD Medicine is in, I found Sids Sushi, and spam that about as well. Tech path from here will be;

  1. Flight- to enable +1 trade routes from airport
  2. Radio- Production of Submarines
  3. Refrigeration, Superconductors- Build those Laboratories.
  4. Ecology- to enable the Recycling building.

From there its probably going to be Satellites, robotics, genetics, fusion. Build and launch ship in a golden age.

So ends part 2 of Check point 4, will our space cadet make it back, keep tuned and see.

Barbaric Monty Check point 4 part 3

Ok, having feed myself and self medicated myself, I continue on with the space cadet school of fun

Spoiler :

Simple strategy, spam Sids Sushi, tech away.

Spoiler :

I also successfully completed the hostile takeover for Mining corp, in getting control of a new source of silver, of course I just popped it out of a mine, but that don't matter, +20 mining corp, is that over all or per corp spread??

Oh yes, beakers have breached 2K for the first time, as I'm sure you've noticed, in the green with research and 2.2K:science:

I gift some units to Saladin, I was sending to his Main continental home, but as he lost that, I sent them to the Islands he's sharing with Tokugawa's Vassals, might cause some more problems there, war's allway's good for business.

Spoiler :

January 1928 AD Flights in, and my sids Sushi executive had FAILED TWICE to spread Sids Sushi to Moai statues...:gripe: ALL CITIES BUILD AIRPORTS ALL

Lowest average build time is 8-9 turns, all except for Ironworks, who has to do it in 4 only Yeah right. Cheater.

Ragnar cancels the deal for 6 gold for cow, I renegotiate for 4 and 4 for incense. Tokugawa does the same I add Incense and he accepts. Lincon comes on by requesting a map trade, I 'request' his map. Lol..nothing different

Spoiler :

1929 AD I finally decide to run the cultural slider @ 20% to offset the Emancipation rubbish. Yeah yeah, just wait till I get the Eiffel Tower

Looks like I dropped my troops off in a nick of time, Tokugawa's Army is at the gates baying for blood. Sorry Tokie....got to spoil the party, besides I want MORE TROUBLE

Spoiler :

Tokugawa's War department, Generals bowed about a map, eye's lowered, cowering in fear. In storms Tokugawa, brandishing a Sword.

Where in the name of Sid Meier did SALADIN Get that army from

Generals all mumble and look at map, for 'strategic reasons'.

In walks a delivery boy from the local pizza shop

One with the lot, lots of anchovies ?

Tokugawa swings his sword,. Decapitating the delivery boy.

I HATE ANCHOVIES

General Dumb A No 2, declares war upon me, with a CARAVEL and what city do you think it is..

Spoiler :

good luck on that, my navy's away on exercises with Saladin at the moment

and that's AFTER i've sent help to Saladin.

AAARRRGGHHHHH I've now got sixty FOUR workers I hate non multiples of 3...arrgghhh.....stupid Dumb A generals...made me take 2 cities off of them in 1st 3 turns of war..Now I have to build another 2 workers to balance it out...ahhhhhhh..........balance........

Spoiler :

SOAB would you BELIEVE IT, Charlemagne had actually beaten me to Radio, all those lovely wonders, going to waste in the A.I.s hands, well in 3 turns there not..

As I've taken all the land masses in my continental locality, I make peace with General Dumb A No 2

Spoiler :

Thanks Ragnar, 2 cities 1 worker and 225 gold, and you 'threatened' me with a caravel. Nice playing with you.

LOL General Dumb A No 2 comes to the economic rescue after the war,

Spoiler :

is no where near the techs needed to use Aluminum. Really what an exploit. I don't believe it, Ragnar actually got a blow in on the war, he pillaged a fishing boat

Radio's in, the 3 wonders are Queued in 3 cities, 25 turns the max, but reduced with power, and may move it to Ironworks anyway, if done quicker.

Wonder is charlies going for diplomatic victory?? Hmm???

July 1935 AD As if it was ever in doubt, I build the 3 gorges dam.

Spoiler :

Production which was 1.5 my nearest rival, has just been Accelerated once again.

As you can see I'm well on my way to my target of 5K beaker /turn, and my 1 tile island cities are nearly finished production of the Air ports, this will only help to boost my Commerce and science rates.

Spoiler :

Christo Redentor is in, yes in your face, Charlemagne, I kick your vassalized butt.

Spoiler :

Beaker are about to breach 3K/ turn, and no Laboratories as yet.

Eiffel tower is in, YEAH, kick butt...I rule the world, oh yeah beaker hit 3K , WITHOUT SUPER CONDUCTORS AND COTTAGES.... cottages are for suckers.

3 turn on hit songs..

Spoiler :

The ULTIMATE PHALLIC SYMBOL IN THE GAME.. Oh yeah........

Superconductors is in...oh yeah, ALL cities begin Laboratories, or observatories if not available.

My limit is 5 turns for current build, unless is a hammer multiplier, then discretion applied.

Note, did you know, you need Libraries for Observatory builds...1st time I knew.

Science has fallen to 1.7K /turn, but then again, ALL cities are building either Laboratories or observatories to enable them. Just you wait. But then again 1.7K at 0% research and 20% culture...

Your Father was a Hamster, and your mother smells of Elderberrries

err...I kick arse.....

Hmm Shaka knows something I don't , he gives me fish, clam and 2 gold /turn for sheep, sure he's not from....Ummm.......

SOB Charlemagne beat me to Rock and roll..well suck this one Charlie boy, I beat you to Christo Rendentor and Eiffel Tower. So I have to trade for 1 resource...big deal P.S. I teched mass Media and obsoleted the Apostolic Palace...heh heh

All cities and I mean ALL CITES go on building Fighters and bombers, or at the ends of their queue's, if still building infrastructure building.

Oh yeah, I build HOLLYWOOD for 14 turns somewhere,. probably Iron Works???

science beaches 3K for the 1st time, didn't I tell you, 5 K here I come...and if not, I'm coming around to
YOUR PLACE
to kick your...........

err...science breaches 3k, and I'm building a lot of buildings... a sheeezzeee load

January 1949, I incorporate Creative construction, only to remove it from another A.I.'s grasp. No F'n way they are getting a cultural win on me. And I've got Sids too............

I lift my glass of wine..err medication to my lips, await the A.I. To make its moves..sing to my DVD playing...and play my turn..3k @ 0%..kicking....it ....

I'm on auto Pilot now, only thing I have to worry about is Diplomatic win , and I'm the biggest dog on the block...

Who's the dog? Who's the dog?, howl with me dog, howl with me... OOOowwwwooooeeeeee!!!

Seriously, I build the U.N. To within 1 turn in MULTIPLE cities...great cash generator...

all cities have fighters and bombers queued at the end of the build queue's and if not building buildings, at the start. I have a problem, science is nearly 4K now..told you didn't I...

I'm very ill, lots of medication, can't even see the comp screen straight, without closing 1 eye, going to bed...ALONE SIGH.....

Got a bit over self medicated last night, what the happened?? reading this I'm on auto pilot, Just reached the future era, going for Genetics now and the Recycling building. Then its Satellites, robotics for the space Elevator, then Fusion, build ship and launch.

Shaka's a top man, just the bomb, he trades me fish, clams and gold for 1 lousy sheep, just No 1 in my books.

I put supermarkets and hospitals to the top of all the queues, and I'm continuing to spam out Sids Sushi Executives.

Science has dropped back to 2K, at 0% science rate, and I've got a blocking stake for the U.N. I've just hit the lead in population, and just behind Tokugawa in land, but he has vassal's counted as well.

I don't believe it, Charlemagne still only has wooden ships, he hasn't got combustion as yet..lol..not many transports either, like some one else.

I dip into Universal Suffrage, and cash rush some building in the slower 1 tile islands. Still spreading Mining corp to all these Islands, and shifting workers about to improve them.

Poor Ole Saladin, can't take a trick, 1st he's got Ragnar and his crew taking him on, now he has a set back in his research for rocketry. I also got the wooden decks to steel random event, drill 3 for all carriers, like I'm going to attack with them. My flirtation with Universal suffrage has ended, as all cities now have mining corp, bar Capital city, which has Creative Constructions incorporated.

It would seem our esteemed 'fiend' Mr Tokugawa's going for fusion, as he's gotten fission and can do fiber optics. I may have space race competition. Looks like he's given up on Domination.

Spoiler :

Ecology is in, all cities put a Recycling plant to the top of queue's.

Saladin finally throws in the Towel, with the loss of Muscat, and capitulates to Tokugawa and his clan, he was occupying 7 A.I.s with his battle, for nearly 100 Yr's in modern warfare. Mr 'Gawa, has Industrialization, as he's got Marines now. Why won't Charlemagne break free from Tokie??

Spoiler :

I finally get the Inflation random event. I was losing 178 gold at that point, now i'm nearly 800 in the green. 25% less Inflation, for a measly 400 odd gold..yes please.

Spoiler :

I do a round of resource trading, picking up about 20 gold, 5 clams and 1 fish for Sids Sushi. Tokugawa's warning me about his Gunships now...Hmm gunships...ocean...SUBMARINES... Charlemagne doesn't have either Horses or Oil, might explain the wooden navy, Land is at 40% of master, and population is 41% both free at 50%, so I might just help him along with resources. No oil, No horses though.

O.K. Mr Tokugawa san, I've put all the Mainland cities onto wealth building for 2 turns, then I'm going to rush buy the coal plants in the Islands where available, then its rush buying submarines with a Rendezvous point of the coast of Moai Statues, the Most likely point of attack, by Mr Tokugawa san.

Spoiler :

Once I scout out his fleet, I'll set my WOLF PACK ONTO IT. Making nearly 5K in gold now, didn't I tell 'ya, didn't I...OK I cheated a bit..but most cities have 4-5 gold internal trade routes now, as the other continent won't open borders with me.

Spoiler :

I get a random event in wall street, the divine angel, watching over the patients, I pay out a piddly sum of gold, and receive +1 Happy and +1 Health yeah baby.

Spoiler :

Well, the gold rush has ended, I had 17 K in gold and rush bought submarines and 1 recycling center in Capital city, which was unhealthy and unhappy, ingrates. All of a sudden I have 23 SUBMARINES and more coming.

“ We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine.”

It would seem that Tokugawa san, had built the U.N. I only got to queue it in one city, bah!!, I've got 37 % of world population, so I have a blocking stake, now for the inevitable 'Emancipation vote' Dumb A , A.I.

Hmm I decide to get a rush on with Research, as Tokugawa san, seems to be getting away from me, he has Satellites, and robotics was just researched. I put all mainland cities on research and boost it to over 7K/turn..see I told ya' again..

Looks like Tokugawa san, has declared war on the former vassals, Ragnar and his Crony Shaka, I gifted Aluminum to him, twice by accident, he's got enough gold, and won't last that long. Hopefully it'll slow down Tokugawa some.

Spoiler :

I couldn't find a naval stack anywhere, so I have to assume (ass out of U and Me) that there isn't one. So much for my Submarine fleet.

The war against Ragnar, seems to have turned into one of Extermination for Tokugawa san, and seems to be going so well, he cancels our deal for hit musical's and I have to renegotiate it again.

Spoiler :

1979 AD Robotics is now in, and I start on the space Elevator, its only just over 2/3's of the way through the game. 20 turns to build in Forbidden palace, a late city.

I also belatedly spread out submarines in a picket line down my western sea's and promote them with sight, so if Tokugawa tries to sneak attack Moai statues, I'll see him coming.

Seems the Tokugawa san clan has just expanded, all 3 remaining vassalized on the same turn. I've just had to defy a vote on Environmentalism as well, not going from free market into costly environmentalism.

Spoiler :

Hmm Seems like Saladin, defied the resolution as well, too bad.

I continue on with building the space elevator and the internet in Forbidden palace and Iron works respectively. I think I've scouted out what would account for Tokugawa's naval stack.

Spoiler :

Not much to be afraid of, and Charlemagne doesn't even have Oil, so no worries there.

The Internets in I pick up, Military science and tradition, communism, Fascism and artillery. 4 turns on Composites then its space ward ho.

Just received Advanced flight the next turn, thanks guy's. My next great person is due in 3 turns from Capital city, and is 60% chance of a great Scientist, so I hold off on my golden age generation for that time, as I want 3 golden ages at once.

Composites is in, no more space techs needed, research, which is already at zero, is turned off in the cities, and I build wealth, up the cultural slider to 40%, for the inevitable denials of the U.N. AND BUILD MY SHIP. Once I get the space elevator (5) and Apollo project (2) built. lol

Tokugawa's gone and build the docking bay, so given up on domination of me, and trying for space. Ha no hope Tokie baby, I've got Fiber Optics on you,

Tech Tech Tech as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm Monty the Barbarian.

I launch my golden ages with 1 spy, 1 merchant, 2 engineers and 2 scientists, for 48 turns of golden age, I won't need that many, but best to use them up now. I also create Guided Missiles in all my main land cities, just in case I have to fight a naval battle, each sub can carry 3 of them no sense in wasting equipment is there. I also queue up the Manhattan project in capital city, though I won't complete it, as the A.I. Can launch Tactical Nukes from Subs at me, and you know they will have Galzillions of those.

Charlemagne is never going to break free, actually fallen behind on the land stakes, so no oil for him, if Tokugawa's not going to give it to a vassal, why should I.

75 cities and steady now, I could have settled much more, squeezing them in here and there as fillers, but no point, all would end up inland, and with no cottages, not worth it, if coastal, I'd build them, if not, no way.

I load up the Guided missiles onto the submarines and send them back on station, I also constructed 10 hospitals that same turn, all on the 1 tile Islands, and I just put them No 1 in queue of ALL cities Along with Recycling centers at first.

My biggest hold up is the 2 engines (4800 hammers each) and the Life support (6000 hammers) the highest hammers city will still only do it in 19 turns 1 less then iron works doing both or 2 engines.

19 turns to build space ship at marathon speed etc, Huge maps. My personal record is 13 turns. Oh well, can't have it all.

I have all cities build Guided missiles x 3 except those building space ship parts on the mainland. They are all routed by default to Moai statues, where I have my Wolf pack awaiting armaments. As they are armed, they are sent back out to sea.

Looks like Tokugawa's not going to try an invasion, as he hasn't upgraded his fleet from wood as yet. Wait till I launch, then we'll see. But really I could lose 95% of my cities and still win a space race, it'd take the A.I. Much longer than that to even take ½ of them via sea. Hell, most only have warriors, crossbowmen, archers or such as defense, only the most recent, of ones I picked up on not having a military garrison, have Machineguns in them, but they'd fall easily to a Marine attack.

I've work shopped all the farms around Uzbek and reduced the engine time to only 2 above the next build, when it was sitting at 6 above. This has reduced my space ship build time to only 15 turns, a 2nd placing for my personal record. Uzbek was a former barbarian city site, who say's they can't choose city sites.

Spoiler :

As I've had to raise my luxury slider to 40%, well not really, I just did anyway, most cities are on building infrastructure, or have gone over to creating wealth. My internal trade routes, as the other continent, won't trade with me, due to Tokugawa's recalcitrance.

Spoiler :

4th time the game crashed or locked up on me now, must be all this Alt tabing to write this up.

Due to the Felixable nature of my Economy, science, Commerce, hammers, or combination's of all 3, I've just dragged my loss making economy of -600 gold into a +ve one of 1500 gold, all through the power of Merchants under Representation. Who say's the Specialist economy sucks late game.

I'm so slow in launching my ship, I was busy building all the buildings available, really i've had this won for so long, no need to focus, just do what I want, spam cities and corporations.

I just had a look at the graphs, and the demographics, just for interests sake, I'm double the nearest and dearest in production, ½ No 1's soldiers, ho hum, and 1 or 2 in the important ones.

Really how is Tokugawa going to get his troops to me??? tunnel UNDER the sea, I don't think so. Naval Domination is the key, not land troops, mostly who are out dated bow's on garrison duty.

Spoiler :

I survey my land, and look for any red dots...and suddenly rut roh...there's one, well, usually its just cruising destroyers or such, I look and see this.

Spoiler :

:aargh: Tokugawa you B-turd my naval force is on the wrong side of the map...right this is it.The end of day's
So ends part 3 con't in Part 4

Monty the Barbaric Check point 4 part 4

THE END OF DAY'S

I look at Tokugawa's 'attack' group, and find it's make up of 11 Carriers, 9 missile cruisers, TWENTY FOUR TRANSPORTS and other such vessels.
Spoiler :

I immediately swear at the stupidity of both Tokugawa's and myself. Begin a review of my forces and continue on with the report.

Spoiler :
Its conquest.

After spending 10 minutes moving, promoting, and upgrading fighters, I feel I'm ready, I've airports in ALL cities, but immediately around the battle area, I may actually be outnumbered in fighters, but most of Tokugawa's aren't even FULLY UPGRADED General Dumb A No 3. If he'd come with transports galore, as he has and stayed 5 tiles away from my coast,. I'd never have seen him. The one smart things he's done, is ACTUALLY attack over the Map break (edge of screen on mini map, or date line).

Just a side note, promote all Aircraft BEFORE you either upgrade them or re-base them, as you won't have access to that till next turn, they won't go on patrol either, probably having a cup of tea, or out checking out the local Crumpet.

Having gone through all my cities, all 75 or so, I'm either building wealth for upgrades, or I'm building Jet fighters to replace my losses. I'm only 5 turns from launch, and Tokugawa's looks like attacking a city in which I'm building a Space Ship Engine, he'll take the city, if he attacks it.

Peace with Toku for 10 turns, I'll try it on.. Nah, wouldn't have a bar of it. It's the end of day's now.

ARMAGEDDON

I hit return...............

Spoiler :

What a complete General Dumb A, no attack on the first turn of the war, I strip the Caribbean of all its fighter cover, as all the islands are only garrisoned by 1 machinegun, and won't hold out against his assault. He can take all the islands if he cares to, just more GG points for me, speaking of which, I take the GG from sinking Charlemagne's frigate, into Moai statues and build a Military academy.

I await the unfurling of Tokugawa's plans.

Well, he's actually taken 1 of my Caribbean island cities, no more holiday's there, and one on my MAINLAND....:gripe:, this means serious business, no more monkeying around.

Spoiler :

Mr Tokugawa's going to feel some PAIN

2nd turn of the end of day's, I've shot down many of Tokugawa's fighters, lost a number Myself as well. Curtailed the invasion by Paratroopers of one of my cities with my

MARINES!!! HOO HA!!

Some modern Armour I'd built in my lower 2/3's of land, have attacked and defeated the initial over land force. Dumb Tokugawa, should have used marines to take via sea, I'd say 74/77 cities are coastal, only 2 or 3 are off the coast.

List of Dumb A general No 3's mistakes;

  1. didn't attack my cities producing space ship parts.
  2. Didn't continue the assault via sea.
  3. Outdated Aircraft, could have dominated the skies.
  4. Didn't take the Caribbean as an airbase, mostly Machineguns, which are vulnerable to Marines.
  5. Didn't take cities guarded by warriors, crossbowmen, archers, city raider Maces, or other pathetic troops...

Can't beat HUMAN INTELLIGENCE.. EVEN A DRUNKEN ONE. [party]

I spot an invasion force from Charlie, why didn't Tokie trade oil to him, more GG points.

Spoiler :

I've seen off the offense for Tokugawa, destroyed his naval air force, and most of his navy, now its just a matter of taking back the cities I've lost, and destroying the rest of his offensive forces. I now move my air force back to the Caribbean, for some sun and surf.

Spoiler :

As true to my variant, I can't leave my home land with any offensive troops, sea not counted. And taking back my Caribbean adventure islands as well as the one mainland city he's managed to get a hold upon. Tokugawa's got a few battle weary battleships holed up in one of my Caribbean islands, and I'll keep assaulting them from the air.

Just so you know, my games crashed again, and I've given it Priority in execution, but window's warned me I might experience instability, so be it, I've had to reload back to the start of the war..4 turns in and I was WINNING...:aargh:...shift f5 every turn now.

THE END OF DAY'S

From the Histories of Aztecia, 3rd edition, 2050 AD Civilization Publications and games inc.

The tale of the war between the Japanese confederation and Aztecia

Great was the force that Dark Lord, Tokugawa, fielded against the Aztecia empire. For all others have fallen before his ravaging horde, and as such he felt supreme confidence upon the battlefield. 11 Air craft Carriers, 9 missile cruisers, TWENTY FOUR TRANSPORTS and other such vessels were assigned the task of invasion of Aztecia.

.
Spoiler :

Initially the war went well, both Delhi, and Eretria fell to the horde, the Dark Lord Tokugawa's land forces advanced on the great industrialized Aztecia city of Uzbek, who's great work shops, mines and fields had been assaulted, by his Kamikaze Air forces, and Cruise missiles.

For the Dark Lord Tokugawa's arrogance knows no bounds, he ordered his forces abandon the naval transports, who had carried them so far over the eastern seas and proceeded out of the newly captured cities of Eretria and Cempoala, and proceeded over land to assault that great Southern city of Uzbek.

Troops, armed with confident arrogance, attained from previous victories in wars upon the dark continent, advanced over land. Boldly the strode through the foreign lands of Aztecia, for no one came forward to challenge them. Onwards they marched, over land, parachuting in by air, all converging on the great southern industrialized city of Uzbek.

Uzbek, who's people toiled mightily, and with great pride, upon one of the great engines that would propel their sons and daughters to the stars. Never did they cower in fear or deviate from their own singular task. For though the Minions of the Dark Lord Tokugawa were descending upon them, they had supreme faith in the armed forces of Aztecia, and the Shield they provided to them.

For now, the sleeping wrath of Aztecia had been awoken, with the blow to its back, the Dark Lord Tokugawa had awoken a giant. A MODERN, FULLY INDUSTRIALIZED GIANT, Swiftly were the armed forces of Aztecia assigned their tasks.

The great force assembled in Moai statues, the rock against which the foreign continents aggression was to be broken. These defenders of the nation of Aztecia, were quickly embarked upon transports and moved to Chakoti at the head of the Southern 2/3's of the continent. There they now joined up with the local militia, ready to do battle with the invaders.

In the open fields of Uzbek, they descended upon the forces of the Dark Lord. Modern weaponry, newly produced from the great industries of Aztecia, fresh tactics recently drilled into the corps, and with the burning vengeance of spurned lover, they fell upon the over confident troops of the Dark Lord Tokugawa.

Modern Armour, raced over the floodplains of Uzbek, driving the enemy beneath their tracks. Marines, enraged at the surprise attack upon their home land, destroyed the paratroopers to a man. Mechanized infantry, ever the defenders, shielded both the Cities, and the wounded troops from counter attacks.

The Dark Lord Tokugawa's Army may have been a Juggernaut, crushing all opposition before them on the dark continent, but here, they were mere chaff, blown away by the righteous winds of the armed land forces of Aztecia.

Initially the Air force, seen as the 'darlings' of the armed forces, were retreated to the frozen north away from their Caribbean sunny resorts.... err bases. Once the Japanese war plan had been stolen by the spies of Aztecia, they were then quickly restored to their bases.

The skies were darkened by the mighty Aztecia air forces, for they proved their worth, in this time, the end of day's. The skies of Aztecia had turned into fields of battle, time and time again, they assailed the Japanese invaders, ignorant of their losses sustained, they launched sortie after sortie, never again would their worth be questioned.

With the attainment of Air dominance, they proceeded to rain the vengeance of Aztecia upon the assembled naval flotilla of the Dark Lord Tokugawa. Now it was the navy's time to prove its worth, long had they guarded the westward sea approaches, but the Dark Lord Tokugawa, had assaulted Aztecia from the East.

Once they reached the seas of the Caribbean, they rejoiced at the sun and sea, pristine beaches, beautiful women, and GLORY. For the naval forces of the Dark Lord Tokugawa, damaged from the air assaults of the glorious air forces of Aztecia, were easy targets for the modern, well equipped and HUNGRY, naval forces of Aztecia. Swiftly were they dispatched. The sea drowned out both; their cries of despair and the brave sailors who had embarked upon the foolhardy invasion.

Of the other Minions of the Dark Lord Tokugawa;

Mighty Charlemagne, who once bestrode that foreign continent, as a colossus, but now bowed to Tokugawa's will, was forced to sent his forces abroad in WOODEN SHIPS, for never relenting, was the Dark Lord Tokugawa, in gifting oil to his chaffing vassal in Charlemagne. Much to the Chagrin of the Naval forces assigned the task of guarding the westward invasion routes, was this flotilla of wooden shipping, for they saw themselves as the mighty arm of Aztecia. Strong, noble and feared, but still they sunk them to a ship, chasing down the cowards who would seek to flee the battle, ramming their ships, cursing them.

Spoiler :

An oil based naval force may have swung the balance of the battle, but it was not to be, for naval supremacy had been achieved by the mighty forces of Aztecia.

The mighty war general Saladin, who for one century in the 1800's had valiantly stood alone with assistance from Aztecia, against the Dark Lord Tokugawa's demon spawn, sent a force worthy of engagement, and dispatch. Two destroyers, were all he could assign, and lose, nothing was heard of the others.

The only other losses experienced were the pillaging of the fishing boats, used to feed the populace, with the great Aztecia institution of Sids Sushi. Except for an antiquated Trireme which was sunk. This was used, as a display and pleasure vessel by the Admiralty, but no trace of these COWARDS could be found.

The Dark Lord Tokugawa, seeing the steel hardened wrath of Lord Monty the Barbaric, was descending upon his forlorn attacking group, decided to make his last stand at the stolen Aztecia city of Delhi. Though his navy, was cowering in port, not wishing to give battle. With his army besieged; from the skies, the seas and ground, was laying in tatters.

Spoiler :

Mighty were the forces assigned against Aztecia, but mightier still was the peoples resolve to fight this war. For not one tear was shed for the fallen, but great rejoicing was held, for they had obtained that most cherished of fates, to DIE in the over lordship of LORD MONTY THE BARBARIC.

All through this adversity, the loyal, and righteous people of Aztecia, toiled long and hard on the space ship, for with its launch, their sons and daughters would have a future in new lands, far away from the despots of this planet.

Much was the damage that the demon spawn of the Dark Lord Tokugawa had done to the 2 cities taken by such cowardice. But the ever noble working class of Aztecia, buoyed by the nearing completion of the space ship to colonize far worlds, rose to the occasion and quickly healed the ravaged lands.

Lord Monty the Barbaric; as he was called by those who seek to enslave our peoples, despoil our lands and deny our right of leadership, calling US BARBARIANS. Had been awoken from his afternoon nap, by his grinning General staff.

"Lord Monty, the Dark Lord Tokugawa, who has sought to steal your lands, people and wealth by stealth attack, has been soundly beaten. His invading armies destroyed, their bodies sown into the fields of Uzbek, his Air forces purged from the Azure Blue skies of Aztecia and his Naval forces sent to the bottom of the crystal blue seas of the Caribbean."

Lord Monty, still sleepy, was only too glad to put forth the hand of friendship, and offer peace to those who would seek to destroy his world. For his efforts, Lord Monty the Barbaric, received this;

Spoiler :

So, spit in the face of peace; destruction of your armed forces, would be all the crop ye shall reap, from this sowing of the rejection of my peace offer.

Reckless were the naval forces of the Dark Lord Tokugawa, for they sailed into the cauldron of death, as the Caribbean became known. For previously, it was renowned, for its sun, crystal blue sea and surf, but all the Dark Lord Tokugawa's navy found was the vengeful forces of Aztecia. Time and Time again, new fleets would sail forth. Always they were bombed from the air, then sunk by the Hungry wolf packs of Submarines, or doomed to face the Missile carriers of Aztecia.

The Air forces renown was greatly earned, in this, the end of day's. Flying over the lonely oceans of the east, they assailed every enemy force they came across, and lo and behold, the PITIFUL GREEKS did launch an attack.

Come to seek the sacking of Mythical Troy have they, Poseidon's lair is all they shall find. Wooden ships in an age of Steel, for courage may be steel of spirit, but not of substance.

The Greek navy, stout of heart, landed the troops, brave to a man, though they weren't the troops of Sitting Bull, still they died a death of fear and agony. Bombed from the air, assailed from the sea, harassed and destroyed on land. Cut off with no hope of retreat, they died to a man, no quarter given, who really cares if they asked.

Bomber command had once more been called to the frozen north, not for safety or punishment, but to aid in the retaking of the Aztecia city of ZURICH. Stolen by the cowardly forces of the Dark Lord Tokugawa.

Most exulted of all Aztecia forces, are the forces of ancient technology. Bravest of the brave, they faced their foes, rejecting the modern armaments of the day. They fought; held or died with the tools of a by gone era. Crossbowmen, Steel tipped arrows and fearless hearts, defenders of the city, guardian of the people, loved by all.

By attacking these, the old men, who formed the guards of honour in their retirement. The Dark Lord Tokugawa had now committed an insult against the very spirit of the ARMED FORCES OF AZTECIA. For once the populace of a city was stolen by the minions of the Dark Lord Tokugawa, they then resisted the invaders, until they were given salvation, by the righteous forces of Aztecia.

Spoiler :

Great was the wrath of the Aztecia armed forces, attack the revered fathers of them all, the sons and daughters rose as one, death to the invader. Long were the queues at the recruiting offices. Mothers offered up their newly born sons to serve.

“Gracious mother of the nation, let your offspring grow in the sunlight of our beloved ruler, don't seek to weed out your garden of life so soon.”

This and other rhetoric heard at the recruiting offices all over the land. Avenge the fathers, sons of right, march forward and cleanse our lands of the filth of other nations.

Zurich needed to be freed and avenged. Only the most modern of troops would do, vengeance for the fathers and the grandfathers of the armed forces. 1st the Air force launched its sorties, with grand fury for the fallen, they assailed the doomed defenders of the Aztecia city. Next the navy delivered the saviors of Zurich, the newly Mechanized Infantry corps. One by one, the corps of Mechanized Infantry stormed ashore. Not for the Citizenry was their fury, but for those despised invaders, minions of the Dark Lord Tokugawa. One by one, they fell to the assault, and great was the rejoicing heard in the AZTECIA city of Zurich upon liberation.

Spoiler :

For now; with our great and glorious National project, the Space ship of Colonization having been launched. With the invading forces of Lord Tokugawa defeated, the land, seas and skies of Aztecia cleared and cleansed of the filth and stench of Foreign nations. With the Dark Lord Tokugawa no longer threatening the home lands, Lord Monty the Barbaric, looked to the foreign lands of the vassals of the Dark Lord Tokugawa.

Lord Monty the Barbaric, did desire greatly the lands of the Zulu. Great warriors they once were, but no longer, and a van guard of invasion that land could be. Lord Monty, the ever wise, deemed the land had been poisoned and sullied by the filth of the foreign nations, and was not worthy of footsteps of the Aztecia.

Spoiler :

Once more Lord Monty, the Barbaric, put forward the hand of friendship, would the hand of peace be spurned yet again??,

Spoiler :

It seemed the ego of the Dark Lord Tokugawa, knows neither defeat, nor humility. Never would the Peoples of Aztecia, nor Lord Monty the Barbaric, give away the lands of the righteous, the pure, the invincible.

Barbaric Monty. A title him and his people wore with PRIDE.

The cost of peace, a mere token to great Aztecia, but the greatest blow to the Dark Lord Tokugawa's pride and standing. For these 'BARBARIANS' had stood against him, and bent like the reeds in the divine wind of the Dark Lord Tokugawa's wrath, but were not broken, NO, they were stronger.

Spoiler :

This gesture of gold for peace was spurned, a stronger gesture was needed to soothe the ego of the Dark Lord Tokugawa.

Making over 2.6K gold /turn, it was of no matter, all that really mattered, was the smooth running of mission control for the space program, and our seeding of the stars.

Peace was restored to the world. Much trading was done after the war was over, all of the peoples were happy to see prosperity return to their lands, perhaps the greatest trade was made with the Dark Lord Tokugawa's people themselves.

Spoiler :

Sure enough the bickering and back biting continued amongst the Dark Lord Tokugawa's vassals. One would want trade stopped against another, Charlemagne, wasn't allowed access to Oil and would repeatedly request a trade deal with Aztecia. Some vassals wouldn't even condone to trade with Aztecia, seeing them as the true barbarians of the world.

21 turns to victory 17 turns remain of the golden age, one to be spent in luxury, festival and [party]. Lord Monty The BARBARIC was pleased, his people had risen as one, to fight off the Japanese aggression.

Previously disdain had been heaped upon the Air force, relaxing in their Caribbean bases, sun, sea and surf. Seen as sun tanned sky jockeys, now they had proved their worth, in this, the end of day's, and were greeted with honour where every they would go in the future.

Military production was kept at war time levels, if not increased further again, for the people had seen what the TRUE BARBARIANS from across the sea's could and would do. NEVER AGAIN, THEY VOWED, our sons and Daughters shall seed the stars, and we shall defend them from here, as ever a parent has done.

Spoiler :

Gladly the great peoples of Aztecia, went back to their labours. Fishing nets were repaired, boats cleaned and launched. For the food of the sea, was to be harvested, and used in that Aztecia institution, Sids Sushi. More mineral resources were mined, iron mines opened up in the arctic north, workers rushed all over the lands, rebuilding all that had been destroyed.

With the war over, the historians could tally their figures and argue, but the true figures were;

Spoiler :

VICTORY TO AZTECIA

Foolish in his pride, and vain to the very end, the Dard Lord Tokugawa's ego, required a victory was to be had at any cost, a diplomatic victory would suffice. A vote was called for, all the peoples of the world voted, but a surprise was to be had on the ballot paper;

Spoiler :

for the lord with the greatest population, wasn't to be found on the ballot, but it was

Lord Monty the Barbaric, Ever Crafty, had DEFIED A U.N. vote and lost his full membership. For then it was the Dark Lord Tokugawa against his VASSAL, Charlemagne, for the diplomatic win. For with this action, Lord Monty, the Barbaric and Crafty, was assured NO DIPLOMATIC WIN WAS POSSIBLE.

Onwards the Great space ship of Colonization from Aztecia flew, carrying their Sons and Daughters, to seed the stars.

Spoiler :

For the Dark Lord Tokugawa, who's ego knows no bounds, ordered his armed forces to re-build, re-arm, and re-train. New and greater weapons of war were to be produced, for he WOULD have dominion over these lands. Only 1 Nation had ever succeeded in standing in his way, that was a nation of BARBARIANS, lead by Barbaric Monty.

Spoiler :

Evermore worked the peoples of Aztecia hammering out the tools of war; defense of the homelands, never again, many were the motto's and phrases coined in those times, the end of day's. Always with the thoughts of their sons and daughters, speeding to the stars. With a better life to be had there, then was to be found here; with its pollution, global warming, and the petty bickering of the various 'Leaders' of the nations.

The Glorious peoples of Aztecia, were not to be denied, in this the end of day's. For it wasn't for themselves that they worked so hard, toiling away in the workshops, labouring in the factories, producing the armaments of modern warfare. They endured these long and arduous days gladly, armed with the thoughts of their sons and daughters gone to seed the stars, for no greater hope does a parent have then for their childern.

Spoiler :

At long last the efforts of 6 Millennium of Labour were rewarded, for the star's now belonged to Aztecia, Lord Monty the Barbaric had won.

For now these brave colonists, those Son's and Daughters of Aztecia, now gazed upon a new world. With new lands to tame, resources to harvest and a planet to populate. A future to build for themselves and their offspring ever more, in this, the end of days.

And so concludes the Tale of Monty the Barbaric.

Lint to Original game from which this tale arose

Barbaric Monty, an open RPC

Brilliant game IPEX! Was a lot of fun to read. I love reading about games on huge maps and your game was epic. Like mads last RPC was too.

Spoiler :
Awesome to see Toku being such a superpower vassalizing the entire continent, poor him that you started alone on a equal sized continent else you would have a hard time facing him :)

p.s. More people are playing this so i'm interested how these games will turnout, but i'm allready looking forward to Mads next Open RPC and IPEX's write up about it ;)

IPEX, that was absolutely brilliant! A masterfully played game with an excellent RPC flavor and excellent writing! :worship:

Expect the next open RPC later this week. Not as epic as this one, more in-line of a mandatory espionage game played as you like. I would be interested in seeing how people play it differently. Still working out the rules, but suffice to say I played the map before and "Nearly" won the game!

Well Done IPEX!

Hey Mad, is there any chance you can go with a normal sized map for these games? I can't play the Large Maps on my Laptop, which greatly limits my ability to play and update frequently.

I had a write-up done of my years 1500-1700, but I hit some sort of bad combination on the mouse/keyboard and it disappeared on me. Grr... Here's the second version:

Spoiler :
Mad Monty (which is how the foreign press refers to him), has dispatched the top minds in his empire to get cracking on The Plan. In order for the Aztec civilization to dominate the rest of the world with it's economic might, he has tasked his researchers to bring him more commerce. After discovering Banking well ahead of any foreign nation, they set sights on Economics. With economics discovered, the Aztec empire quickly embraced free market system. Trade with the primitive and violent nations of the new world skyrocketed, and Supreme Leader Monty was very pleased.

He asked his researchers what else they could do to increase trade routes, and they informed him of the theory of Corporation. However, such a discovery would obsolete the benefits of the Great Lighthouse, and was therefore not as big a boost as was economics. Monty told them to hold off on corporation and tell him what else they had to offer.

The researchers then told him of a new civic, that allows his cottages to grow into lucrative towns twice as fast! Also, just by adopting this civic, the people of foreign nations will cause much civil unrest due to their desire to be like the great Aztec citizens. The only problem was, if the Aztec nation adopted such a civic, he would be forced to give up his beloved whipping. Monty contemplated this, and realized that there must be some sacrifices, and not always will they be at the altar. He tells his researchers to discover the secrets of Democracy (a project which will also bring him Nationalism and Constitution), but first he is going to divert all funding to his military scientists for a while.

They have brought him the exciting news of rumors of something called Gunpowder. He ordered them to first work on the concept of bridge building, and then use that knowledge to bring him Gunpowder. Once that was complete, his scientists informed him that new ideas of Chemistry show much promise with improving the nations navy, so the Supreme Leader funds that project as well before finally allowing his researchers to get back to The Plan.

It should be noted that every once in a while, Mad Monty would get a whim and order his team to bring him something different. Among those were the secrets of Music (when it dropped to a 2 turn project), Replaceable Parts for its boost to some of the tile improvements, and Divine Right for its Holy City and its maintenance reducing wonder.

While science really began to pick up its pace, Mad Monty ordered his cities to immediately start work on populating the rest of the jungle continents. The northern continent was to build defensive units, workers and settlers. Some cities, those with the most cottages, were also ordered to build universities, grocers and banks.

By the year 1700, just about half of the central continent had been settled, and many more settlers were in the queues and coming soon. Versailles was under construction, which will only be more help to an economy that has twenty cities and is running break-even at 70% no matter how fast it expands.

Power rating is mostly around 0.7 of the violent new-world, so we are keeping an eye on the technology race over there. At the moment only one of them has figured out astronomy, so we are not concerned about our defensive position yet. We're more concerned about them claiming some of our land, so we are going to make full effort to claim it all for ourselves before much longer. Mostly, they are consumed with fighting each other, so we are funding a few privateers to harass them and bring us profit but otherwise staying out of it.

After Democracy was discovered and implemented, scientific advances began to come an amazing pace. The Supreme Leader noticed that having so many cities and so many people working on his research projects was a critical factor, so he had his scientists research the path that led them to improved farming through the science of Biology.

As we leave the story for now, the Supreme Leader had just been given the secret of Steam Power, and his workers are connecting the coal mines to the trade network. The research team has recommended to figure out the secrets of affordable Steel, and then an extremely promising new idea called Railroad.

Not only does the idea of lightning fast travel across our huge and fertile lands sound terrific, but so does the promise of increased productivity from all our mines and lumber mills. Lastly, a Great Engineer and a Great Merchant have set up residence in the Hindu Holy city and have been bouncing around some ideas that would bring extra production and extra food to EVERY city. The Engineer feels that these "railroads" would be the key to what he needs for his "corporation" and the Merchant keeps talking about needing just a few turns of funding for something he called Medicine. Mad Monty, having given up on the old policy of just whipping the sick people to death, has decided that he will probably give the Merchant the funding he needs after the Railroad project.

Looking forward, the next hundred years will be entirely focused on settling and improving the central and southern continents. Massive numbers of workers are going to be needed to clear the jungle for new cottages and some farms. At least a couple cities are going to be working on defensive units, probably rifles and then infantry. In the ancient cites, not much infrastructure will be built, other than maybe some factories. They will focus on fueling the expansion. The central continent will be focused on specializing each city, since they are mostly either really great cottage sites or quality production cities. It is likely that some of them will be building mostly commerce multiplying buildings during this period, which will again help cut the costs of the expansion and later massively contribute to The Plan.

Will try to play some more tonight.
