Is your geforce 256 MB?
Even if not, you might want to lower the resolution.

Yes, it's similar to unhappiness/unhealthiness icon problem, or better said the GameFonts files.
In the new version it'll be corrected.
 
Thinking about an early active hunting mechanics, i.e. killing animals to give a small food bonus to a nearby city, to give some incentive to face the mighty mammoths!

Great idea, you know what would be really wild, making it so you get a war elephant if you manage to "tame" a wild elephant. But that's probably erring on the side of too much..
 
it is 256mb but I still lowered it. unfortunatly same thing happens... takes about 30 seconds then post the message that its not working.

Unfortunately I'm out of suggestions - you might try to uninstall/reinstall QC or even Civ...
 
Hi, I was wondering why the archer in roman army use a slingshot? I think a shortbow archer would fit more with the ancient roman legion style. Just my opinion.

Thats awesome. Is that from a modcomp component or some custom thing you whipped up yourself? I tell ya, Quot Capita looks really cool and if I ever ahd the time anymore, I might play it;).

Oh, it's just a smallish python modification I whipped up, cannot even say it's too original, as I believe Shqype did something similar via SDK.
However, I think I like it, the thing I'm contemplating with is whether to:
- have a hunter unit with double hunting food
- have a hunter promotion with double hunting food
- none of the above

Currently the food gained is based on the animal unit strength: greater risk -> greater reward scheme.

Hmm, and I might need to check if the civ has Hunting tech...

BTW I have a small gift for you; its a Modern Frigate I whipped up based on the recommendation I made a few days back. I call it a "modern frigate" to avoid confusion with the Stealth Destroyer. The Modern Frigate is an upgraded version of the standard Destroyer; it is designed as an escort for Missile Cruisers and Carriers. It has a Str of 35, move of 10, costs 240 hammers, can see subs and has a 50% chance to intercept aircraft. I used Danrell's escort ship model from the unit database (the button is my creation). To add, just unzip into the QC Assets folder. Let me know what you think,Avian.

How about a [+x% vs animals] for the hunting promotion so experienced warriors and archers have a shot against elephants?


By the way, good call in taking out the "G.I. Joe doll" unit icon that was in the previous version. I'm not a big fan of the current unit icon for Trench Infantry either (reminds me of Huckleberry Finn). Sorry to nitpick, I only mention it because the other icons are excellent and fit with the game's style (it was a shame Firaxis couldn't get the original Civ4 artist to do the icons for BTS, the style of the original icons is so nice).
 
Hi, I would suggest to make "paradrop" a promotion available to gunpowder and clone units in the late game. Maybe a combat III or IV prerequisit. Just and my 2 cents.
 
@sourdiesel: thanks for your suggestions/observations! About the Hunting promotion: last evening I implemented the exact same thing: you'll have Hunter I and Hunter II promotions. Hunter I is +50% against animals, +1 first strike chance and +1 food on hunting. Hunter II is +100 against animals, +1 first strike and +1 food on hunting. Both of these are available with Hunting, Hunter II obviously requires Hunter I, and can be given to melee, recon and archer units. (I needed to create a new combatgroup for the animals for the bonus attack %)

@Martin79: not a bad idea, but it's not that easy to implement with promotions (probably need python modifications). I'll keep the idea on my list.

Affects aesthetics only. I set it to 2.5, looks great at both 2.0 and 2.5.

Thanks a lot.:goodjob: I got an idea or two for more modern ships....just read a fine book on the Soviet Navy during the Cold War called "Rising Tide", which discusses among other topics the Soviet trawlers or AGI, thought this might make an interesting unit.

Changelog:

- upgraded to Varietas Delectat v7.0
- added hunting animals for food mechanics (with Hunter promotions)
- corrected res/Fonts files
- adjusted abundance/rarity of new resources
- small production bonus when clearing jungles (1/3 of forest)
- added Modern Frigate (Highwayhoss)
- added diplomusic to Charles I
- created new Trench Infantry button
Things snatched from PIG (PieceOfMind):
- Axeman increased in cost to 40 (from 35). Same change for axeman unique units
- AIR_PATROL_RADIUS changed from 1.5 to 2.0
- Missile Cruiser iPower (used in power calculations) increased from 14 to 40
- UNIT_AI_ESCORT_SEA removed from stealth destroyers
- Ironclad movement increased to 3 (up from 2), but is a tad bit more expensive
