The Axis gives us some high and mighty words and speak of peace, yet strangely enough, they aren't the ones who neighbour the oppressive monster that sits on Greece's doorstep. The way the "Empire" has massacred the Kurds who only wish for self-determination and freedom from the boot of Turkish tyranny shows the Turkish plans for the rest of the region. Obviously words like "freedom" and "liberty" mean nothing to the Axis.

Did the Ottomans invade Greece? No then stay out of their business.

You understand nothing about the Ottoman internal strife. Firstly the Kurds are not being massacred in any sense of the word. Vast numbers of the civilian populations have been relocated to concentration camps in which they are properly cared for with abundant supplies provided by the Ottoman government. Secondly the Kurds and Turks are Ottomans first and foremost. Many Kurds have foolishly fallen under the sway of ethnic radicalism. For five hundred years all Millets have lived peacefully as Ottoman subjects, and for 100 years they have been given Ottoman citizenship. This history can not be denyed, we are all Ottoman whether we have ethnic ties to the Turks, Kurds, Arabs, etc or religious ties to Islam, Christianity, etc. Freedom and liberty are granted to all Ottomans, for the Ottoman Empire is a nation-state of, for, and by the Ottoman people.

I've got to get an early start tomorrow, update should be done tomorrow evening.

ECONOMIC REPORT. Tsarityn, Russian Federation. Overall this year has seen a slowdown in economic growth, though it remains significant. While no recession warning has been placed into effect by economists, a small dip in stocks has been seen, but most attribute this to the unstable global political position. Many hope that the stabilization of China and North America will help to spur further future growth, but remain unsure as to what China’s role will be in the global market. CHICAGO ELECTIONS. Chicago, Free City of Chicago. The Conservative Party of Chicago, though it has faced some claims of corruption in recent years, has managed to once again eke out a political victory. City press has confirmed that recent charges of corruption are invalid and the Conservative Party has portrayed the charges as a plot by the opposition to undermine the political process. The Liberals have therefore been tossed out of the City Council in record numbers, leaving the Conservatives in nearly uncontested control of the government. (+3 Stability)

IROQUOIS ELECTIONS. Mohawk, Iroquois. The Iroquois government elections this year resulted in a major change in regime. The Liberal Party has been turned out of nearly all major political offices, as the government faces harsh criticism. The increase of power of surrounding nations has led many to sour towards the neutral paths of the previous governments. The conservatives have looks towards arming the Iroquois populace and preparing plans against the possibility of invasion from any side. Possible threats listed have been the Swedish Empire, the volatile Metis, and the socialists to the south. Whatever the threat, the conservatives hope that the Iroquois will be ready for an onslaught. (+1 Stability)

NEW ENGLAND ELECTIONS. Boston, Republic of New England. Elections in New England once more saw the success of the Conservative Party, which has continued to run on the campaign of “Imperial Glory.” The success in Morocco and the more recent economic success over Yemen has seen the New Englander Empire expand to even greater wealth. The nation’s full recovery from the Great Recession has been attributed to the conservatives, who have pledged to continue the country’s solid growth well into the future. (+1 Stability)

VIRGINIA ELECTIONS. Richmond, Virginian Empire. The Virginian government was easily brought back into office this year, following the major foreign political success over Georgia. The aversion of war in Tennessee and the forced backing down of the Georgian government has been widely attributed to the actions of the Liberal government. This has brought about a feeling of new strength and will within the empire, uniting leftists and rightists alike behind the Liberal government. The Liberal Party has promised to keep a wary eye upon Georgia and to maintain the security of Virginia within North America and her empire. (+2 Stability)

MILITARY STRIKES IN METIS SYNDICATE. Winnipeg, Metis Syndicate. The continuing deterioration of national happiness with the government was quickly picked up by the military. Generals within the government, knowing that Savauge was too well respected to be assassinated without consequence, determined to move while he was out of the country. While giving a speech in Sweden, the Metis leader was informed that a bloody coup was underway back home in Winnipeg. The military secured control of the city quickly and declared the president to be in a state of exile. However, loyalist elements of the military were soon rallied and the rebels were surrounded and defeated in a vicious urban battle in the capitol. The Syndicate has been preserved and the military leaders responsible have been placed under arrest. (+5 Stability, -9 Infantry Brigades, -5 Artillery Brigades, -6 Manpower)

WAR AVERTED IN TENNESSEE. Nashville, Tennessee. Last year’s crisis between Virginian and Georgian troops in Tennessee has been met by a successful compromise between members of the United Nation States of America and the Co-Axial Pact. Pressure from the Republic of New England and France brought about rapid negotiations between the involved powers, as a peace treaty was brokered. Immediately both Virginian and Georgian government officials promised to withdraw troops from Tennessee which began early this year as the ceasefire took place. Despite this success further war nearly erupted when the Georgian leader rejected the treaty. Troops from all over the UNSA were rallied for war, until the last possible moment when President Dahl reaffirmed the earlier Virginian and French treaty. Reparations were promised and fulfilled to Virginia, though Tennessean political leaders are apparently still awaiting funds from the Co-Axial Pact which were promised to them.

OHIO CANAL SCRAPPED. Detroit, Virginian Empire. The ambitious government project to construct a canal from the Ohio River to the Great Lakes was scrapped this year as the government announced a lack of funding for the effort. The rapid mobilization of arms for a possible war with the Co-Axial Pact or International Socialist Group has led to many resources being diverted away from domestic use. Financial experts have declared that it would have taken nearly three decades to the canal to make up its value of construction. The new unemployment caused by the discontinuation of the project is slowly being made up for as new industries are developed with both planes and cars.

TEXANS MOVE INTO JAMAICA. Kingston, Texan Republic. This year control of Jamaica was turned over by Haitian military forces to troops from Texas and New England. New Englander marines quickly secured the island’s main harbor and port, while the Texans moved inland. Fighting has erupted between communist guerillas and the Texan troops as they push further inland. The Texans have so far reported success in clearing sectors of the western part of the island, and numerous guerilla holds have been announced as eliminated. (-1 Infantry Brigade)

SUSA ANNOUNCES MAJOR POLICY CHANGE. Rio de Janeiro, Socialist Union of South America. The government of the Socialist Union of South America has at last renounced a longstanding official policy of political atheism. Religion has been officially eliminated in the Union since the inception of the socialist regime in Brazil. Recent disputes within the United Collectives of North America have brought the issue of Catholicism to the forefront. In a well publicized meeting with the Pope from Rome, the leader of the Socialist Union has recognized once again Church possessions within South America, including land on which congregations meet. This move has been met with wary enthusiasm, and the Pope has stated that these recent changes among the communist nations show that the people and the church must stand united for the overall welfare of the human race.

INDUSTRIALIZATION PROJECT COMPLETE IN UCNA. Mexico City, United Collectives of North America. It has been announced by the Collectives Economic Bureau that efforts to repair damages caused by the 1926 hurricane season and recent unrest has been repaired. Though these costs do not include last year’s unrest in the north, they do include a series of urban development projects. Among these is the world’s second tallest skyscraper, the People’s Tower in Mexico City, well designed by the nation’s best engineers and dwarfed only by the Imperial State Building in New York City. NETHERLANDS ELECTIONS. Amsterdam, Republic of the Netherlands. The Dutch republic met with some turmoil as this year’s elections arrived. The ruling Moderate coalition which dominated the country’s politics since the establishment of the republic has at last collapsed. Infighting between liberals and conservatives has led to the fall of the coalition. The conservative leadership has called for a military buildup and efforts to contain Co-Axial Pact power. In response the Liberals have called for pacifism and avoidance of war. The Liberal Party, though it condemns Co-Axial actions globally, hopes to avoid a new military conflict. Past policies of colonial tolerance have alienated some of the population, and the situation remains unstable as the Liberals have the slimmest of majorities. (-2 Stability)

GERMAN ELECTIONS. Munich, German Republic. The elections in the German Republic this year, only the second in the nation’s history, have brought about a surprising upset. The Konservative Partei have managed to gain a victory this year over the Liberale Partei who have controlled the nation since 1925. The conservative force managed to win by claiming that the liberals have been too soft on French militarization and activities within both Europe and Africa. Playing off fears of a possible war with France, the conservatives have pledged to rearm the country to make sure that the German Republic remains defended against all enemies. (-1 Stability)

ROMANIA ELECTIONS. Bucharest, Romania. Romania has been a gradually changing country since the Orthodox Party was ousted in 1925. The government has begun a limited liberalization process towards worker and corporate rights. The policies have proven popular but have backfired politically for the Conservative Party. The Liberal Party has claimed that the conservatives have not gone as far as they could in reform and have promised to do better. Thanks to clever campaigning the liberals have successfully secured control of the government. (-1 Stability)

TRANSYLVANIA ELECTIONS. Blaj, Transylvania. The Transylvanian government has focused entirely on the increasing profits of the domestic situation as the national market continues to be flooded by Russian goods. The Transylvanian conservatives expressed concerns this year that Russian goods may cause local industries to collapse, but the Liberal Party was quick to assuage any fears of that type. They have secured popular support by promising cheap luxury items and economic growth to Transylvania.

DANES REJOIN EAN. Copenhagen, Danish Empire. To the pleasure of diplomats within the European Alliance of Nations, the Danish Empire has fulfilled the new party’s pledge to rejoin the organization. The Danish conservatives have recognized the weakness of the nation against increasingly aggressive France, and have called for a move to contain them. The admittance of the Danish Empire into the European Alliance has been met with good cheer, but has been surpassed by the growing fear that another Great War in Europe may be on the horizon.

SCOTLAND PASSES HARSH LAWS. Edinburgh, Scotland. The Scottish monarchy has declared that all legal offenses are now to be tried as capital crimes, punishable by death, this includes everything from tax evasion to murder. The closing of the press has been met with growing unrest as the populace rises up in revolt against the new laws. Major fighting has been reported in the cities as the population throws up barricades, calling for a new regime. The military was soon deployed to restore order and for several months the nation was nearly in a state of civil war. Fortunately for the monarchy the military remained loyal, smashing the rioters, but leaving good chunks of the nation’s industry in ruins in the process. (-28 Manpower, -10 Infantry Brigades)

FRENCH DEATH TRAINS ILLUMINATED. Hamburg, German Republic. Journalists from the German Republic and the Russian Federation have published startling and revealing information about the Brussels Death Train and further expansions of the program. Photographs and witnesses have been rallied in both countries, reporting that the people who actually made it to Marseilles were shipped to what were essentially slave mines in the deepest parts of Africa, where they were worked until death. The German people have protested against the French treatment of the Flemish people, and this has easily led to a rise of demand for military spending. In the Russian Federation even greater outrage was roused among the powerful Muslim lobby when it was clearly shown that within French occupied regions of Morocco, the Moroccan people were being rounded up for similar purpose, showing high death rates upon trains shipping people to mines further south. The President of Russia has offered a statement demanding that the trains be stopped immediately lest the French government face a dire new threat.

KNIGHTING OF CAPTAIN ENGLAND AND A NEW MASKED VILLIAN. London, England. The acts of the masked vigilante Captain England has won major support with the English people. The hero has been knighted by the king, but the ceremony was interrupted by a daring new costumed villain. This man, known as the Celtic Crusader, has pledged to destroy the English state and claim vengeance for the Celtic people, promising the death of Captain England. The two masked individuals fought within the royal palace, but the Crusader escaped. Captain England has pledged to stop the villain at any cost.

African/Middle Eastern News Report

OVAMBIAN ACTIONS OUTRAGE FOREIGN PRESS. Leesburg, Ovambia. As one of several atrocious events which have taken place this year by members of the Co-Axial Pact, Ovambia has helped contribute to the bad reputation of the organization by their treatment of the Haitian prisoners captured last year. The Ovambians have announced plans for the Haitian soldiers, described as rabble rousers and natural slaves. The enlisted captured have been sold into slavery or sent to French mines within French Africa. The officers and non-commissioned officers were executed for murder en masse by the Ovambian government. This news has been met poorly within the United Nation States of America who have denounced the Ovambia actions, and politicians within the Russian Federation and European Alliance of Nations have also issued protest and condemnations of the Ovambian regime.

RIOTS AND DEMONSTRATIONS IN OTTOMAN EMPIRE. Ankara, Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman government has been faced with a rising threat behind the lines. The recent slaughter of Muslims within the French empire has caused anti-Co Axial Pact resentment to reach an all time high. Announcements of support for the current regime by Italy and Georgia have caused support for the administration’s efforts to decline sharply. Continuing failure in the war and mobilization have also continued to raise frustration among the people towards the government. This has led to several mutinies within the military at home, calling for immediate end to the war and recognition of the two countries. This has been met with other riots and violent protests as the government begins to fall apart in its resolve. Politicians have begun speaking more and more loudly against Ottoman alignment with the Co-Axial Pact as well as against the current president’s “destructive policies.” (-34 Infantry Brigades, -5 Artillery Brigades, -10 Manpower, -2 Stability)

REBELLIONS IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE. Damascus, Syriac Union. The Syrian and Kurdish rebellions have continued in full force against the Ottoman government, which stubbornly maintains that they should be happy as Ottoman citizens. Despite this, the rebels have managed to win several victories over the occupiers. The Ottoman zeppelin corps has been made extinct by the presence of anti-aircraft weaponry among the rebel armies. Scouts, bombers, and dreadnoughts have all been brought down by these devices. Mutinies and unrest within the Ottoman ranks, as well as an increasing number of desertions have made the war effort even more unwieldy. The Ottoman attack against the Syriac Union came first and was eventually defeated though they managed to recover some territory against steadfast resistance. Ottoman tank superiority was made problematic by the presence of some of the new Taylor tanks, which matched the French-designed Hotchkiss rather easily. Operations did not go as well against the Kurds, as the Kurds soon knocked out any resemblance of Ottoman reconnaissance troops. Using biplanes the Kurds were able to maintain specific knowledge of Ottoman troop locations while their enemies remained blind, allowing a major victory, throwing the Ottoman forces into utter confusion and securing more Kurdish territory. This success was backed by a long awaited Persian offensive, which moved back into land which had been taken from the Persians, but never officially annexed following the Suez War. Fighting was limited, but the Ottoman garrison did inflict some casualties before its destruction.
Casualty List
Ottoman Empire: 31 Infantry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 1 Hotchkiss Brigade
Persia: 2 Infantry Brigades
Kurdistan: 26 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades
Syriac Union: 12 Infantry Brigades

YEMEN MAKES NEW AGREEMENT. Sana’a, Yemen. The Yemeni government has met with representatives of New England and have offered a special agreement to any New Englander businesses wishing to operate within the nation’s borders. First access to resources and the nation’s wealth have been promised to these companies, much to the anger of the Yemeni people. It has been clearly stated by both parties that Yemen agreed out of their own free will, and is not entering the New Englander Imperial Protectorate, but merely establishing new trading relations.

FIGHTING IN CHINA ENDS. Lanzhou, Republic of China. Celebrations and fireworks have marked the end of the current, nearly thirty year war in China. The Union of Chinese Collectives has disbanded and its forces have gone under ground after a final offensive was launched. The brutal campaign saw some of the highest casualties for the republic in a few years as they launched themselves with incredible fervor against communist defensive positions. None of the communist leaders have yet been caught, it is believed that many have gone underground with the republican victory. Likewise a large number of soldiers and weapons are unaccounted for, which may mean that a number have only gone into hiding in preparation for a future war. The government has pledged to maintain their vigilance against the communist threat. Since the start of the fighting in 1901, it is believed that over one hundred million Chinese have perished as a result of the conflict, directly or indirectly. Combat deaths have reach unprecedented tolls in human history. Nonetheless, the republic has persevered and a new dawn has been reached for the Chinese people.
Casualty List
Republic of China: 122 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 6 Tank Brigades
Union of Chinese Collectives: destroyed

Country of Kings
Type: Moving Pictures (Talkie)
Genre: Drama
Producer: Beria Productions
Running Time: 67 minutes
Summary: This film is a dramatic recreation of the decline of the Austrian Empire during the nineteenth century, focusing on the drama within the failing remnants of the Habsburg family as their empire collapsed upon them. The film’s dramatic conclusions showed the division of the empire into three kingdoms has risen some debate among scholars within the Russian Imperial Protectorate. Protests have been held against the portrayal of the involved monarchs, as the film made subtle claims of both incest and infidelity.

AMERICAN CUP. Boston, Republic of New England. This year’s football season was dominated by a growing rivalry between the teams from Boston and Richmond. The end of the season reached a fevered pitch as fights began breaking out between enthusiasts of both teams, and some cities nearly erupted into riot during sporting events. The worst came when a tie was reached at the end of the first game of the final matches. Violence broke out as fans stormed the field, and several were injured when Richmond police were called in. A rematch was played, eventually leading to a Virginian victory in this hard fought struggle.

EUROPEAN CUP. Cologne, German Republic. This year’s competition saw the Stockholm team once again rise to the forefront of the game, but in the end they were unfit for victory. The German Cologne Football Club, though they played a barely above mediocre season, managed to defeat the Swedes in the final game. Closing scores put the Germans with a victory of three to one. The Swedish team’s performance in the final match lead many to believe that they may have intentionally thrown the game, and politicians have begun demanding investigation into the issue.

AMERICAN SOCIALIST CUP. Recife, Socialist Union of South America. The football series this year took place mostly within the Socialist Union of South America. The lackluster performances of teams within the United Collectives and other Central and South American states has left the populace disheartened as other teams soar to victory. The Recife Collective eventually emerged victorious in a late running game against Rio de Janeiro. The final score was one to zero.

@flyinchicken: There are no such thing as “environmental standards.” No one really cares about that at this time, as there’s no reason to. After all the environment can obviously take whatever man can throw at it.

@Adrogans: At this point old tanks cannot be upgraded, why not sell them?

@Tuxedohamm, you did not receive the full EP you may have expected, only 1 EP from Korea.

@Cynovolans: your political cartoon will likely see service with the next update, but I felt that the current one was a better choice for this update.

As a warning, the next turn will have two major changes into the tech tree and stats. Both tech specializations and military qualities will be adjusted in one way or another.

@Haseri, spend 10 more into the suggestion about infrastructure improvement we made and we’ll call it square into that account.

I realize that the proposed deadline is rather short notice, but it's either that or wait a much longer time. Therefore, there will be no penalty should you miss the deadline due to the short span of time between now and then.

@flyinchicken: sorry, you got stuck in the between updating sit-downs zone, where things can get lost. As for environment, well there's not even such a thing as weather forecasting at the moment, and technology and theory is still way behind. I just can't see environmentalism being in character in any way at the moment.

What happiness was declining? Is that military unhappiness with the government?

The Danish Empire also joins the English and the Metis Syndicate in their condemning of the Brussels Death Train actions, as well as condemn Ovambia's actions regarding their treatment of the Haitian prisoners they made during the Haiti-Ovambia war.

In light of international pressure and concerns we will halt the "death trains" so-called, give Moroccans rights on-par with the French Indians, and return as many Haitians as possible to their land of native birth. We invite Russian, German, Metis, and Georgian observers - representatives of the Russian, German, French, and English ways of life - to ensure these trains are stopped satisfactorily.

We will however state that the thousands of people who have been thus disposed of were not disposed of illegitimately. Their death was necessary for the sanctity of the state, and they were all of them were terrorists. We committed no atrocities because what we did is the norm. Criminals are punished; thus come civilization. We will stop the migration but continue to deal with those who would do France harm.

And a word of caution to the hawks of nations abroad: France is not used to having her interior policy dictated from without. All we want is peace. But if the parasitic agents of retrogression of the world want war, then France will not, shall not, can not go down without a fight.

Vive le France. Vivent les Français.
