I would vote to bulb metal casting as well, and maybe go for the Colossus.

I think to be true to the Sovjet era you should bulb GMs (ok with short term gain from capitalism) , settle GS (weapons industry) and GA (balletdancers chessplayers) , use GE to hurry wonders and such (spacerace in real life) and popp GPs or kill them.(the former pope was from Poland remember and that dint really work in sovjet favor)
Try to get some GS for spymissions of course.

I'd say execute the capitalist (disband)
Looking back it would have been an interesting rule to set rules for dealing with the gps. Merchants and prophets and artist to be executed, engineers could be kept scientist kept.
You know what if you ever redo stalin having purges would have been an interesting spin on the rpc ( roll a die to see if the great person would have been purged from stalins paranoia)

I am leaning towards Bulbing Metal Casting as the PRagmatic choice. We want to focus on Soviet production and the faster we get forges and workshops the better. Also there is some potential low production but well fed cities that could use 2 hammer workshops (maybe 3 at caste). Finally, Triemes are pretty useful on the water heavy map!
The Colossus I see as an extra "Indulgence" that Comrade Lenin deserves. Power does have it's privaleges now.
And let's remember I have to wait until I finish teching Currency!
About public executions, the Mao game was an inadvertant Prophet produced from Sury's captured Capital, so St. Paul was NOT in the plan and got what he deserved. Here Lenin built the Great Lighthouse and certainly knew what he was getting. I am sure Comrade Lenin can come up with an "interesting" story on how to Pragmatically use this Capitilist dog!

Update coming up! Anyone have any idea why I now have over 17,000 views for the RPC??? The best I ever did was about 14,000 during the Sury Insanity. I seam to get about 15,000 in 24 hours 
I fear either the former Soviet Union nations are all watching to learn the real history of Lenin (Lord help them) or the US government is watching me as a secret Communist (lord help me!).

NOW, after we finish Currency, we take this Erico Dandalo out of cell
and hand him over to new secret police I have created called KGB! After careful "discussion" with this Great Merchant which unfortunately involved alot of screaming, Erico Dandolo agrees to help Soviet Union discover

So we saved here, reseaching the knowledge of Compass, still at the happy cap. WE cna build Colleseums to promote Soviet Sports and a whale resoruce appeared off teh coast of Moscow, so perhaps machinery/Optics next!!!

Did you consider putting Rostov 2N1W? You don't get either resource until after the border pop, but you get more grassland tiles and you do still get both resources.
