RevolutionDCM for BTS

Ok, with my three months of summer vacation and modding behind me, I have a wishlist for you:
What Avain said
And CAR mod

That's it.

I know this isn't a tech forum, but I thought I'd try here first. I loaded the Rev DCM mod onto my computer, unpacked it like instructed, and the mod showed up when I went to load it at the start screen. However, BTS then shuts down. The computer doesn't shut down, just the game. Any suggestions on how to fix it or will it not work on my machine?

Things RevDCM needs:

  • Better Exposure of Revolution effects -*Jdog has said this is making it into the next build :)
  • Fix multiplayer
  • Update BUG component to 4.0, include BULL
  • Global Warming mod from BUFFY

That's it. Most of this is in everyone elses list of wishes. But for some reason everyone else is ommiting the two biggest issues. Multiplayer and rev index exposure. These two things are broken parts, that really need to be fixed to flush things out.

1. BUG 4.0 with DLL changes (BULL)
2. Better BTS AI 0.80 + Unofficial Patch for BTS 3.19 v1.10 (hope this helps the AI boarding hang-up bug,if not, it needs to be squashed)
3. Correction for Project-dependecies
4. CAR Mod: Civ AcceleratoR: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=332196
5. Orion's Inquisition Mod ver 2.50C for BTS 3.19: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=300619
I think these plus the Global Warming mod are must haves.:D I to would like a better exposure of revolution effects.

Your right. It's just that we suddenly had a few great new modcomps come out, and it distracted us. (15% speed boost from CAR would cut about 30 seconds off RoM loading time. That's alot.) We do need more exposure for that. I was showing some new players revolutions, but it was hard to explain the Revindex's and such.

I have BTS 3.19 but when I try this Mod or Dune I get no control panel/Menu on bottom of screen.

I have BUG 4.0 [1894] installed and it seems to work with BTS 3.19 OK.

(XP Pro )

Dune Wars (I guess) or RevolutionDCM Mod have no "control panel" GUI at the the bottom to control the units.

BTS with BUG 4 works and I'm playing the FFH2 Mod fine at the moment.

Here is my gift to you...

RevolutionDCM DLL with CAR merged in!
Download the attached rar file and unzip it to your RevDCM Assets folder and overwrite. Be sure to back up the original DLL though if you want to.

Now to credits and advertisements as per CAR's modder's request:

Go visit CAR mod here!
Also, the modder would like you to try out his History of Three Kingdoms. See in his signature for the link there.

Enjoy!

If you read my post before it was edited only few min. ago, read it again for the attachment. Oops!
Enjoy :).

Yes, they do. A lack of interface usually indicates that something with the Python code is going wrong - i.e. something is conflicting with the files in the mod - most probably BUG.

So, solutions are:
1) Install BUG as mod (is way easier, plus you can still set it to load automatically on start-up), not into your custom assets; OR:
2) Go into the mod folder (of dune wars or RevDCM), open the .ini file with the same name as the mod, set "NoCustomAssets = 1" (if it's there, set it to 1, if not, copy and paste it), making the mod ignore your custom assets.

That should usually help, if everything else is done right (i.e. you never overwrote stock game files and installed the mod into the the proper directory in the BtS main directory, not in the my files\my games\... directory).

Cheers, LT.

eskar,
what language are you using?

os79 - thanks!

English.

I have BUG4, but it's only there when no Mod loaded. If FFH2 or RevolutionDCM is loaded I don't think Bug is. Certainly, the extra features are on ordinary BTS, and FFH2 has original panel.

Thanks.

The Files for RevolutionDCM are in "C:\Program Files\...\Beyond the Sword\Mods\RevolutionDCM\

I don't think I've ever copied anything into "My Documents"

Little explanation: BUG is sort of always loaded, as it's installed into your custom assets, overriding the standard files (the custom assets directory is in your "My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\..."). FfH2 has that ini-flag set to 1 to specifically ignore things like BUG - if it's not set, the game WILL try to load the mod and BUG at once, usually with rather unfortunate results if the mod touches similar files as the BUG (for example RevDCM is, I think, still on BUG 3.6, which is integrated into the mod, ditto Dune Wars, so you see, the game wants to load two different BUG versions at once).

So... did editing the .ini-file work for you? Hope so! :)

Better that way... it's just something some people do when they install mods the first time or so, so it's better to ask to eliminate a possible source of errors.

Cheers, LT.
