Role Play Challenge, TNG: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!

Don't have an exact idea on how to do it, but obtaining calendar is huge for the E/SE Asia area. Incense, Sugar, Dye, Banana, Spices, Silk (a ton of Silk). If I'm not forgetting any that's 5 happy and 1 healthy prior to associated buildings or further trades. Even if you go domination the amount of growth related commerce (large food surplus in the China region) and trade gpt that can be brought in is huge. Silk in particular you have just about an old world monopoly on at this point.

Also...

Japan is massing a defensive force of workers the likes of which the world has never seen. Where 1 worker failed 50 shall be victorious!

You are being too peaceful Mad. With keshiks you can probably take out inda, persia, arabia, and possibly all of africa without stopping to tech :p. With CoL and the Arabian shrine city you can even avoid strike!

Actually, it's probably difficult but possible to clear out the entire old world with keshiks alone.

I know, I know. Call me old fashioned but I always like a buildup to a good old style Tank Blitzkrieg! Still I will decide on Persia later.

And there is alot of good land in the east that warrents developement!

Mad, I see a quazbillion red Xs.

Have you noticed your BAT diplo text? It really fits!

Spoiler :

Note the empire :satan:

Hey, when I'm not playing AS India, old Asoka's one of my favorite targets for levelling, so no hard feelings. I am a bit surprised that he (I) managed a small counterattack, there, rather than just rolling over and dying.Good on him. But, yeah. My advice would be to bulb Philosophy. You can probably get everything old Attacko has on the table for it, and get a potentially valuable shrine later on, besides. This is particularly fun if the New World doesn't have any religions yet. Send a Missionary over to Montezuma on a Caravel, and sudenly your niche faith becomes a major world religion, raking in dozens of gold per turn.

Ooooh, I'm the owner of the Jewish holy city! Sweet. As long as I don't waste too much effort on the war with Africa, the French cities should be most excellent additions to the Mongol empire when you are ready for them. Not only will there be a few wonders, but there will probably be a shrine cranking out 75 base GPT.

By the way, it is a shame that you can't get more for Philosophy after you bulb it. I guess you will need to keep an eye out on the tech situation around the world and sell it off whenever you can get something halfway decent from the rest of them. Especially since the first guy you are going to trade it to would pretty much trade techs with a guy who just punched him in the face three seconds earlier.

Played out an extremely long segment 4, 1000 years! We are in good shape but taking over India took longer than it should have. Nevertheless we are doing well in tech and power numbers.

Just a few items to let everyone know

Neal has been isolated to only Tibet. He now screams to other Ais across the Himalayas since we are not opening borders with him

We never met rolo and never will since apparently he was killed off by Julius before we made contact.

I will post the segment tomorrow, otherwise it will be a mess. well, more of a mess than even I can make!

I'd love to see you do that. How many keshiks would be needed (no-raze vs only raze)?

Depends very heavily on the difficulty and also to a large extent on what kind of AI-AI wars open up easy :backstab: opportunities. Even the same player would need more or less depending on those factors.

I know you play on Immortal/Deity but I betcha you could do it at Emperor.

We'll never know until someone tries it :mischief:.

It depends on perspective and play style. In my game I am preferring a slower methodical expansion to keep up with tech, work the map/AI situation, and make use of teh good Chinese land. In this RPC I am essentially playing my own style, not a true leader RPC.

If it was a Genghis Khan RPC, then likely Keshik rampage over Persia and Arabia would be the method of choice.

I hope to get the next segment written up tonight.

It's a MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD World: Part IV

As I mentioned a very long segment, so bear with me. It's gonna take two postings.

I started by using the Great Scientist to

MSD0000.jpg

And proceeded to start the Mongolian firesale on Pacifism.

MSD0001.jpg

MSD0002.jpg

Good so far. Our techpath went

Civil Service/Literature/Paper/Education/Liberalism/Printing Press/Gunpowder/Banking/Military Tradition

Rahter than press the issue and send our forces against the heavily defended Bombay we diverted them towards the Siam region, looking to bolster our offense with Catapults eventually.

As we bear down on Siam

MSD0003.jpg

MSD0004.jpg

Giving us more calander resources

Re then rebuilt an invasion force for India

MSD0005.jpg

And started to do more trades

MSD0006.jpg

Leaving us at

MSD0007.jpg

Nobody was willing to give us Fuedalism for Philosophy but we still made out well.

MSD0008.jpg

MSD0009.jpg

MSD0011.jpg

MSD0012.jpg

That my friends is a lot of techs we got from one Great Scientist!

NOW, we can deal with Neal

MSD0013.jpg

Neal's use of war elephants were a slight hinderance to us, I think we should have brought some spears along. Still....

MSD0014.jpg

At this point I could press the attack, but I decided to regroup to head towards Liberalism and exploit all those nice calender resoruces.

MSD0015.jpg

And we decided to change civics.

MSD0016.jpg

Vassalage since we are spamming military for the next segment for the next war.

We finally met the other Madman (or perhaps ManWoman) of the game.

MSD0017.jpg

So we cruise along a while until war erupts

MSD0018.jpg

Apparently the pacifists decide they do not like Bandobras much and try to dogpile him. Did not achieve much except tick the Took off.

We popped our second GP

MSD0019.jpg

Which we used to speed along Education as the liberalism race is a little tight with us and Attacko.

JTMac99 offers us a trade

MSD0020.jpg

Which get's us the all important map.

MSD0021.jpg

India and Africa are still unknowns but we can see the Persians establishing a nice lengthy fronteir there. At this point I decided to really turn up the techpace before a mass military compaign, except perhaps to finish Neal off.

We finally hit

MSD0022.jpg

Before Attacko, so we beelined straight to Liberalism.

MSD0023.jpg

Emperor level with a non-economical leader, and we are winning the liberalism race. Not too bad.

Now education I view as a way to get Guilds and Engineering pluc backfill, so I very happy to get this.

MSD0024.jpg

And just before Liberalsim we get the next GS

MSD0025.jpg

Which we use to bulb Pritnting Press

To Be Continued..................

It's a MAD, MAD, MAD MAd World: Part IV continued

The options for being first to liberalsim are

MSD0026.jpg

We opted for nationalism, figuring we could use the draft.

We then got this unfortunate announcement

MSD0027.jpg

Rolo and the Spanish empire have been destroyed. Rumour has it there was an underground of miscreants who considered themselves Portugese and helped with the downfall to Rome, but this was only a rumour.

Sorry Rolo, we hardly knew you!

We found our favorite trading partner willing to give us Guilds

MSD0028.jpg

And now we shifted civics

MSD0029.jpg

AND launched the Mongol Horde against Neal's Indians.

MSD0030.jpg

MSD0031.jpg

Meanwhile We find DaveMcW willing to offer a trade

MSD0032.jpg

Giving guilds to Dave is fien as I have never seen the guy ever fight a war!!

And with the map from Dave comes a good vision of the Subcontinent

MSD0033.jpg

Neal launched an immediate counter attack against Bombay which we sort of ignored, thinking we could hold it and let our own invasion force continue on

MSD0034.jpg

We whipped a Longbow and drafted a Maceman, but still lost Bombay. Alas, Neal is putting up an annoyingly good front here.

SO we forget Bombay and continue towards the Indian capital

MSD0036.jpg

MSD0037.jpg

At this point Ganghis IMP has kicked in nicely getting 2 settled GGs in Bejing (9XP maces or 13 XP mounted units) plus

MSD0038.jpg

A super-Medic!

We then redirected the army towards recapturing Bombay while reinforcements arrive from the other end.

MSD0039.jpg

MSD0042.jpg

But before the big battle, a few more trades

MSD0040.jpg

MSD0041.jpg

At this point Neal's defenses collapsed allowing us to capture teh entire Subcontinent

MSD0043.jpg

MSD0044.jpg

We brought Neal to the negotiation tble

MSD0045.jpg

I promised you to kill you last Neal, and I am a man of my word. You have ONE city left in Tibet.

The map we got from Neal was rather interesting

MSD0046.jpg

michmbk appears to be holding his own against TMIT's insane Aztecs, actually capturing a city. That could provide some interesting times later on.

Techwise now we are doing real well

MSD0047.jpg

And let's take a good look at Neal's remaining land.

MSD0048.jpg

Well Neal you can practice all the Culture and religious aspects of the dali Lama there all you want. We are not opening borders essentially leaving you quite isolated! Like a fish in a bowl!

I saved this massive segment here finally. A look at the demographics

MSD0049.jpg

Not doing too bad here. Once India come fully on line I plan to build the Forbidden Palace in the former Indian capital, anticpating adding the core of Persian and Arabia next.

So that is where we are folks!

I say Replaceable Parts/Rifling followed by chemistry/steel. We are also amassing an invasion force near the Persian border. A fast strike into Loki's lands, leaving him the more barren north (perhaps Jaaboo may join) and move onto the Tooks lands to make a strong stake in the middle east. That would give the options of expanding in three different directing depending on our needs then.

The wild card is Lansky's Japanese who are geering up for war and have spread past the home islands.

Be careful about attacking Persia. I know from my own experiences that they are always a bit stronger than you expect! Since you have a massive border, a short war in their core could still prove devastating.

Also, anybody notice that Greece is actually seems to be doing better than Rome? Seems a little strange, but apparently Rome is now playing a 2CC

You have a dupe of Madman's intro screen in the "war erupts" spot. Other than that, you're doing a fine job. I continue to marvel at the ridiculously large stacks you bring to the front. How do you pay for that? Of course, I'm kind of on the opposite end, bringing eight units to take a city defended by six. But c'est la guerre. I look forward to bribing Catherine to declare war and rescue me from my rocky hell.

I fixed the duplicate.

Reagrding financing the army, I view it like the US COngress does, what difference does money make. Just borrow it, steal it, or kill someone else for it!
