Role Play Challenge, TNG: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!

Why did I open borders with you again lol :crazyeye: ah well maybe Cy-Loki just wants to be friends

Perhaps that was the only way you cities could actually trade with each other! Or anyone else considering Julius is not too happy with you.

Contrary on the popular belief, "open borders" don't affect the trade routes. War does. That means 2 civilizations can trade through a 3rd one (completely blocking them) as longs as both of them are not in war w/ the 3rd civ.

I never realized this, gotta remember it. Still, Loki has limited unit movement though.

Hey, this is turning out like some of my normal games, where Protective is helping to delay my inevitable loss! :)

It looks like you're putting up more of a fight than Loki, I think Loki is just to trusting to be in Mad's world!

It's a MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD World: Part VII

Anotehr extensive segment although we are covering only about 100 years here. It will be in posts so bear with me.

I started by being rather restless with such a large army lingering arround

MSG0000.jpg

Damned AP vote spoiling my fun. Time to shake things up.

DAVE!

MSG0001.jpg

You are insulting the Mongols by exerting such brutal culture on cities that we justifyably stole from Bandobras Took. You shall pay for this insult!

MSG0002.jpg

Note we lost Babylonia temporarily, but who cares. We can retake it later on, and that Jerusalum region is vitally important.

Meanwhile World peace did not last long

MSG0003.jpg

However, that DP between Loki and Took is rather interesting! What's the matter fella's, the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

But onto more important matters

MSG0004.jpg

Unfirtunately that northern former Persian city already flipped to Dave, but we let him keep it which helped us later.

I am largely ignoring the French, but we did make a small trade for extra gold.

MSG0005.jpg

So we quickly recaptured Babylon and made peace with Dave

MSG0007.jpg

Who immediately opened border so he could maintain contact with that northern city. Nice!

With dave's culture knocked back in the Middel East, we can concentrate on getting rid of Bandobras from Arabia.

But before declaring war we tried to shake things up a bit.

MSG0012.jpg

And looking at the diplo screen

MSG0013.jpg

Dave has gotten hinself into a few wars, great for us because it broke the Persian/Arabia DP. NOW, we move onto

MSG0014.jpg

Definitely the fight has been taken out of Bandobras who put up very little fight.

Before you know it 2 cities are captured

MSG0016.jpg

With Medina the last city on the peninsula.

One of our last tech trades

MSG0017.jpg

And the fall of Medina

MSG0018.jpg

Brings

MSG0019.jpg

Dave continued a strong fight against Bandobras through the segment, which helped alot later on. Also the Russians and Germans (Or Jaaboo and Sian) have gone at each other all segment, neither doing much against the other than swap a few cities and weaken themselves. TMIT has also been fighting a long distant was against Germany!

But what do we care about European matters

MSG0020.jpg

I'll tell you why we care

MSG0021.jpg

Sem is the Pope and trying to force me to give cities back to the Arabs. I say never and defy it, moving Semirami to the top of the MAd's death list.

So we pop a third GP for another Golden Age, move our troops to the Greek border city.

MSG0023.jpg

And call his Popemanship Sem for a courtesy call, Mongolian style

MSG0024.jpg

To Be Continued....

It's a MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD World: PArt VII continued

And immediately after declaring war.

MSG0026.jpg

We start producing our steel Keshiks right away, having several cities with very high production

In fact by the end of the segment we have

1) Bejing with the HE and 3 settled GGs spawning tanks in 2-3 turns
2) Coastal Beshalik with West Point producing naval ships with 10 XP.
3) Vijaywhatever with a settled GG drafting 1 infantry every few turns and building a cannon.
4) Karakorum with the ironworks and 1 settled GG punching tanks out every 2 turns
5) Shanghai also producing tanks every 3 turns.

But nough tank production, that's for the next segment. For now we have

MSG0027.jpg

Yeah we are attacking Greece but Lansky is close to getting longbows, and infantry versus archers does not happen every day!.

MSG0028.jpg

You get idea here!

There was a major Mongol/Greek battle over Anatolia, which we won laying a large part of Sem's army in waste!

MSG0029.jpg

MSG0030.jpg

We spared this city, planning to use it a launching pad for Europe at a later date!

However the true goal is

MSG0031.jpg

The AP lies in Athens!

Which we better get to fast as we keep getting these votes we defy

MSG0033.jpg

In the meantime we cleared Indonesia of the Japanese menace

MSG0035.jpg

Unfortunately Lansky has one city we cannot find yet. Rather than buildign Nukes as scouts I decided to

MSG0036.jpg

The map shows us that his last city is

MSG0037.jpg

Ah, to the far north. Should have guessed. So we send the fleet up there to finish Lansky in ten turns.

Meanwhile we finished

MSG0038.jpg

And we are building airports galore to transport units around real fast!

Semirami starts to clooapse, first Sparta

MSG0039.jpg

Which we raze.

Then

MSG0040.jpg

The forgotten Tibet city.

And Dave has done a nice job of removing the culture pressure that Bandobras Took was exerting on us.

MSG0041.jpg

THANKS DAVE!

We bring the Horde against the last remnants of the Greek army

MSG0044.jpg

MSG0046.jpg

And razed the vial thing to the ground. All hail, the Ap has been destroyed!

We saved here, as peace has broken out for us!

To the north we have 2 massive stacks awaiting our word to invade Loki's lands

MSG0047.jpg

MSG0048.jpg

I thin Persia and Japan need to be eliminated very soon!

The map

Victroy conditions

MSG0052.jpg

And diplomacy!

MSG0053.jpg

Well, that's enough for time. Time for bed!

A lot of fun to read, as always. It's weird, being on the other side of one of these things. It's all over but the shouting at this point. One request, though: When you're pointing out an enemy stack or whatnot, mouse over them when you take the screenshot. That'll show off its makeup.

The problem with this is I use shift + printscreen to autonumber the screenshots, so whever that screen comes up the mouse/cursor shots goes away. I prefer NOT to just hit printscreen as it takes too long to organize them. My segment postings is a bit faster than most, this is likely one reason, my gaming takes alot longer than the write up!

A while back I switched to just hitting print screen. It orders them from 000 to 001 to whatever, and when I upload them it always puts the new batch in front of the old, making it reasonably easy. The only hard thing then is knowing what's in the screen shot to comment on it, but I can usually remember or tell by looking at the thumbnail pic. With that, my write-ups are also lightning fast, few of them take more than 1-4 minutes :).

Meh. Who wanted the Arabian Peninsula, anyway? :)

^ The annoying thing is that you quickly have hundreds of screenshots in the same folder, and the screenshot functionality always uses the first available number, instead of incrementing the highest one. So if you delete/move 200 from the middle those are the next names to be used for new shots.

Scotland yard, military academy, academy, 2 settled GG, 2 settled GE, and a settled GP and you burn it to the ground? Ouch, that vile AP. I mean, I know the game's going very strong for you already, but damn, that's a tough city to torch.

The problem is uploading to photobucket. I can run a segment and autonumber, but I like to label them according to segments, example MS A, MS B etc..... If I autonumber I am stuck with all having the same prefix throughout the game (100's of screenshots) or a more complicated folder organization system on photobucket. Either way, it's another level of work for me to do.

Perhaps next RPC I will try it, but right now this earth map is huge and long, so I'll stick to the current method.

REALLY!? Never realized how much stuff was there, I just focused on teh AP! Still no regrets, all the greatness of the city can be sacrificed to get rid of religious Zealotness!

The generals were weak, they allowed Athens to fall.
The academy was defunct, Greek soldiers had little skill at war.
The engineers were incompetent, Greeks fought with archaic weapons.

The Great Khan does not reward such failures with mercy or kindness. Athens was burned not out of expediency or pragmatic needs, but as an ever-lasting symbol, here is where the Great Khan has set his mark upon this world. Weakness will not be tolerated. Failure will be purged. The Khan has spoken through his Horde, and a great darkness has fallen over the land.

Edit: still, ouch. Looks like sem popped an extra iron as well. Athens had the markings of an A+ moai city, even this late in the game, it would have been an awesome military pump for your conquest of Europe.

Bah, railroads and tanks get's the invasion force to Europe fast enough, and we are starting to control the seas, no reason we cannot simultaneously do amphibious landings on England and Mali!
