Ambrox Bronze Age Units

why does no one say, that he'll use them?
A shame.
Why this? I don't think so.
I'm doing these units for a mod, not for regular BTS. Civ4 already has plenty of valuable units, but TAM requires many specific units instead, specific by types and ages, and specific for at least 18 civs that don't exist in Civ4.
CA are units that you'll see in ancient mods only (like TAM or RFRE), because they don't fit into BTS.

There are more chances to see one of my next 25 chariots into the major mods instead. Below I've attached my preferred one I'm working on.

I can't speak about chariot archer because I didn't test them ( get difficulties to play TAM ) but for sure I'm going to put in the next update of the mods at least 2 of your spearmen. I only re-coloured a little bit the skins. Here are the pictures.

I've meant that.
We have more than 1 BtS expansion here, and none of the creators, who'll probably use some of the units, has made a comment here, and i think, that's really sad.

I'm going to use these units, and I've made comments. Maybe not here but in other threads, and I have certainly praised Ambrox on his work before.

Didn't mean only you ;).

And these units are completly new, haven't been done before, and will need a new unitclass, so i think, they deserve some more comments.

Not necessarily, maybe for a mod like TAM but in the regular game they could either serve as a UU or replace the Chariot. It all depends on what you want to do with them, of course you could always add a new unit class if you wanted to.

You made an excellent reskin :goodjob:
As I wrote somewhere in the past, I'm not able to do accurate reskin on my units because I must complete many of them each time, thus I end to reuse existing textures mostly.
To reskin is a really hard activity because it requires time and skill. If you did the hittite shield using the tiny space of my original dds you are really a wizard. I'm very curious to know if you did that.

Could you post those CJ?

For sure :)

Download Persia Spearman

Download Celtic Spearman

Even all these units have been made for TAM mod, they are really great and the diversity allow to use them for many civilizations.

Thanks Ambrox. ;) For the Hittite shield I used a shield texture Bakuel already used for a fantastic Persia unit ( Maceman or Swordsman ). I just adapted the pixels :) So the goal is to do the same proczss for some other Persia units.

If I had to re-skin as much units you create, it will take so long !!! From my point of view, I feel frustrated because I'm not yet able to make changes in Nifskope

Thanks The_J for your appreciation of my CAs. ;)
They required a lot of work to run them fine, but, believe me, I made it to learn something new about animations, making something useful to me at the same time.

The thread will always open to debate, and something has been wrote already. People required a ewc with archer and a chariot with a javelineer onboard, which have more historical sense that a single archer on a celtic chariot, and I have put them at the end of my filled to-do-list :crazyeye:

Absolutely no doubt that Bakuel is a wizard, but you made a great work ;)
About nifscope, did you read the Coyote tutorial?

Oh yes ! And some others too. I still have it inside one of my favourite folder to read it again and again.

As Blender is too obscure to me ( we, Mac users, have bad habits with softwares ;) ) I installed a trial 3DS Max on XP ( vie Parallels ) and I successed to import a warrior in Max and export him in Nifskope instead of a settler.

Everything was fine there but I began to get lost ( but really really lost ) with the nodes ... And in game, my unit was ... beautifully ... invisible !

I tried too to exchange some heads, without success. It's pathetic I know :crazyeye: but I don't give up. ;)

Heads and swapping skeletons can all be done in NifSkope, provided you already have the head of a unit.

I know this ! Thats why I feel so frustrated ! :lol::lol:

These are very different matters. Import/export isn't a simple head swap, while nodes and invisible units aren't related issues.
I can't help you with 3ds Max, but I can help you about the others. Which issue do you want to resolve first?

@Dom Pedro
To enforce what The_Capo stated above, it's pretty sure that ALL the early bronze age civs used archers on chariot simply because archery has been a milestone for human history, regarding hunting and, especially, warfare. Egyptian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Hittite archers have had a key role in their armies. Later, when chariot was introduced, is reasonable that the first men to go onboard were archers.

There was still limited use of chariots in combat in the Classical Age. Sometime around 40BC was probably the nadir since the Romans seem to have conquered everyone who had been using them. The Romans and Byzantines used them too, but only for sport ;)

My request for a chariot javelineer is based on a comment by Julius Caesar about how the Britons fought. The Celts still used some, as did Pontus. Definitely on the way out in this period, but still some usage in combat.

Only at the END of your list? ;)

If you agree, I'll tell you what I'm searching to do with heads and if you have some time ( I'm pretty sure you are so busy ! ;) ) you could guide me with these nodes.

Come back later with full infos. Thank you so much Ambrox !

I've just uploaded a chariots package, which finishes my bronze age set.
Read the first post to download it ;)
