Dune Wars Art Thread

Uploaded new zip with Mercenary/Plague;/Atreides promos made same as all others. Only thing that differ is Warlord (should be distinct) and mentats (because they friends of Warlords, and warlord will not feel lonely while being orange )

Harkonnen - Heavy industry, plackish square turbine. Dark, Gothic.
Ordos - Smooth Curve futuristic, Snakes.
Atreides. Honor, Eagle, Wings.
BG - Subtle, Strict, Cathedralic.
BTl - Genotech, Dark, Shady.
Ix - Circuits, robotech.
Corrino - pompous , ornamental.
Ecaz - Gold, rich, artistic, bit modern/impress (may be)
Freeman, rough, Dusty, Ancient writings/picts

1st is Ordos.
Green curve-spiral-tube-cable-snake theme.
 
Another issue fixed:
Bug mode buttons - their icons were not in gamefont, but in separate DDS, in art/interface/rawyields folder

Here is screnee and zip for the fix. Dir rawyields goes into interface folder.

Another issue - i tried to fix Icon for Spacing guild - Reinforcements (replacing greek helm) , changed xml, but lost alot of time trying to fix xml/thm files and failed.

tried to change HUD color to 122,100,77
and changed icon (check attached file)

Can you please fix all that xml stuff to make that icon working and hud color = that RGB number, while we making civ-specifics, civ-specifics will take time.

Also, a small update. I thought that towers looked too bland

Also there's a landing pad on the roof, I will make a small craft to launch from there and land back.
 
Yeah, it has some "rapture"-like design.

Anyway, scrap the previous picture, I was a bit stoned when I made it :).

Here's a building for Ordos, it may be a palace, some administrative building or even barracks; it has an "industrious" feel and some of medieval elements, it's quite monumental and has a snake head as well (I think, most of Dune design comes from a mix of medieval and industrial eras).

I like the Hark one, Ordos still seems a bit odd.
Maybe if the worm thing were more of a king cobra, and maybe you could add some walkway bridges linking the towers?

*edit* this was referring to the earlier design. New one looks decent, though maybe a little blocky.
 
It's blocky because it's supposed to be some production building, like barracks of factory of some kind, or maybe some company.
The two tower-like structures under the main complex are supposed to be multi-story buildings, like skyscrapers. Actually the whole structure should be huge.

I will design a palace later.
 
But last Building is good too, all curves are nice, it fits ordos, though i see ordos building more looking like University towers from Smac, with dark twist, and snake theme, so i say 1 small tower on last one would not hurt. They are tech-whores too, they love to "borrow" any technologies for themselves and use them all at once., and are very monumental as i imagine them. They are often portaryed as ants - single life if nothing compared to greatness of house, all in one, with meaning they are fanatics of themselves and their own house and its power and wealth, and rest is no matter. Selfishness, Egocrathy, Ambition, Greed. so, sure, they like to be monumental, and anything of their origin should resemble their faith in own power.

Great concepts for the building art! May I suggest moving this part of the thread to the "building art" thread I created. There are so many posts on this one art thread, it is time to split it into more specific threads.

Loooots of pretty things here! Very, very cool! About the promo icons - yeah, I started them... but last week my PC crapped out, so I never got around to finish them (or see the cool stuff here). But really, a lot of cool progress here! :goodjob:
