UPDATE NINETEEN
Relatively quiet times
Ermor undead thaumaturgs tried to build some kind of temple in Ulm, but lack of funds prevented them from accomplishing anything useful.
Mictlan provinces once again suffered from blights, although in Mictlan home province the effects could be somewhat mitigated thanks to a clever use of granary reserves. However, in Jaguars Jungle, the situation was made worse by the fevers that sprung in the province, originating in the unhealthy fens. Cyprus citizens built fisheries increasing the province infrastructure.
In Man, the situation was even worse. Although most of the province is faithful to Mictlan, the dominion of Ermor is powerful there, and many people let themselves die. The country is terrible to behold: Food is scarce and people are gaunt and hungry. Many of the few remaining inhabitants talk of leaving the province for a better place to live in. Mictlan priests sacrifice many inhabitants on the temple in order to persuade Ermor followers to abandon their faith, lowering the deadly dominion.
Mictlan ships sailed into Bakemono straits and fired their catapults at the enemy walls, only to be answered the same from
Shinuyama towers. The ships then moved north and disappeared from view of the Shinuyama coasts.
Jotunheim citizens built new mines in their homeland, extracting iron and coper ores for their weapons.
In Utgard, several vaetti chiefs have died mysteriously, causing some turmoil in the province.
In
Arshnoc, plagues spread into Seul. The same disease crossed the channel and starts spreading in
Shinuyama. However the kami of the sacred forests of Shinuyama are able to counter most of its effects. It is said that a Mori-no-kami went out of his woods to meet Shizen in order to help him fight the plague.
The inhabitants of Caelum took arms to form a militia to defend their country.
In Dark woods, soldiers patrol and root out dissenters.
In Man Ch'i, wizards found several gems of mana in the Celestial academy.
Pythium's great lighthouse has been enlarged. The tower is now almost twice as high as it used to be and is a really impressive view. In Amazonia, a tribe of amazons tamed winter wolves and Pythians added them to their army.
In the province of Pangaea, the government spent money to indoctrinate the youth. Many old women, who remember the time of the Pans and maenads, have warned their daughters and granddaughters not to be fooled by the divine serpent's bureaucrats. Pangaeans worshipped the god of Mictlan, Pythium and Arshnoc equally, but these schools made the inhabitants quite intolerant of other religions. This led to an anti-Mictlan pogrom in a big town of the south of the province, which caused several deaths and much resentment among the Mictlan followers, who urge the Mantis to help protect them from religious intolerance.
In Gath, a preacher told everyone about the grandeur of the
Lanka goddess Hanman, increasing the number of the faithful. Lankans in the newly conquered province of T'ien Ch'i have started capturing slaves, presumably for sacrificing them, and the inhabitants are quite upset.
Meanwhile, the
Abysia army in T'ien Ch'i, joined by several Lankan warriors and mages, walked into Caelum. Their moves were unhindered at first, but as they started scaling the mountain roads, they were ambushed by archers shooting from hidden caves.
Lankan elephants helped tear down T'ien Ch'i defenses, and Arshnoc troops were too numerous to remain hidden in their fortress, so they tried to repel the opponents. Lankan elephants and apes remained in reserve, letting the abysians fight alone. The Lankan general explained that the troops were so numerous that the Abysian fire auras would deal damage to his troops, but Lankan wizards cast some thunderbolts to support the Abysian troops.
As a group of winged caelians attacked the abysian soldiers, one of them was killed by the abysians and exploded in a huge conflagration, which unfortunately didn't harm any of the abysian lavamen.
Arshnoc wizards saw they couldn't defeat the Abysians, and retreated in their forts, but the Lankans and Abysians started pounding their walls with catapults. Soon, the forts will be breached and elephants are ready to run through. However, food is scarce in Caelum, and the besiegers are suffering from starvation despite Lankan's nature magics. Inside the forts, Arshnoc wizards produce enough food for their few remaining tigers and soldiers.
