SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version 2016-10-05

it's the folder within a folder problem.

open up your Conquests folder and find that large folder that you DL'd (called AoI). click on it and you'll see that there's another folder inside of that one w/ the same exact name. right click on this folder and 'cut' it. move back up into the Conquests directory and 'paste' it. it's ok to overwrite the existing and now empty AoI folder.

fire up civ complete, pick civ content and find the biq file. you should be good to go.

the reason this happens i think is b/c the file is archived like that when its extracted. it happens w/ alot of files...

I hope the files will be out very soon, perhaps in the next 3 days because then I'll be able to go crazy on this scenario during my holiday leave. While people go to China or South Africa, I'll be busy invading them ;)

23 November update

here she is:

biq

large folder

refer to the first pages for more details...

please read all of the directions carefully! i do not want to spend alot of time answering DL/Installation issues when the answer to any possible problems are already outlined!

happy civing all!

this is VERY important all : please, whatever you do, read this info and seriously consider my advice!

Startup:

For The Full AoI v4.0 Experience...

to have absolutely have No Barbarians, you must follow these quick and painless steps:
start a regular epic game w/ Conquests, select No Barbarians at startup, generate your map, etc, get to that first turn and then bail. yes, quit w/out saving. now, fire up the AoI biq and you're good to go. strange but the game engine will only not generate Barbarians on the AoI map (and every other mod or scen you play!) with this particular sequence. Virote_Considon brought this to our attention in the summer of 2009.

v4.0 has the no-raze patch included w/ a fool-proof and concise readme. it is HIGHLY recommended that it's used for the maximum gameplay experience. the scenario was designed around its use and any deviations from it are or will be highly unpredictable.

it is strongly advised that before you load AoI v4.0 that you go into the 'Preferences' tab on the civ3c title screen and 'Disable Wonder Initiation Pop-ups' (or something to that effect). you see, the first turn is littered w/ these annoying pop-ups if this feature isn't enabled. once you get to your first turn, simply go back into the 'Preferences' tab while in-game and then re-enable the 'wonder pop-ups' so that you can be apprised of any wonder activities from that point forward.

Flip on the Tutorial Mode if you're interested in an official AoI Walkthrough it has links to many helpful areas of the Civilopedia and helps explain some things you'll want to pay attention to.

additional recommended settings (for ultra fast turn times!):
shut off 'show enemy moves'
shut off 'show friendly moves'
*be advised that game play is not compromised in the least bit w/ these settings. all visible in-game movement on the map will be determined solely by the line of sight of your units.

be sure to enable your audio to hear the custom soundtrack, diplo music, units sounds and more!

Click on 'Civ-Content' after you've finalized the settings and select the AoI v4.0 biq file

Yeah Baby! :w00t:

I'm gonna make some time to try this out. Congratulations on the release!

AWESOME!

...Too bad I'm still trying to finish my AoI 3.0 story and working through a Fallout mod game right now... I'll just have to install it when I get those done....;)

Just loaded a game up(as Italy) and had to tell everyone how amazing the graphics are. The water tile especially are superb. I'll keep everyone posted on my game and how much I love this mod.

Thanks Pat

Congrats to El Justo on being able to launch this and thanks to the community for your patience. I hope that you find many hours of enjoyment out of this scenario and even learn a thing or two about the era from the extensive civlopedia that many labored on to put together.

To give you an idea of the effort thrown into this, the first post on the site for the development of this scenario was made on 2 May 2009. Over 1500 posts and 151 pages followed, working, forming, and hammering on this project by quite a few people and it represents who knows how many hours of working to put this together.

It is my hope that folks enjoy the end product and realize that probably as hard as we worked on it, there are probably some things that got missed, but we think we got as many of them as humanly possible. Certainly this has to be one of the most extensive remakes and pushes the civ 3 engine to a level that I think the original designers could not even conceive of when they first made it. The tricks, techniques, and schemes are so extensive as to boggle the imagination and yet with all that, the game runs very very fast, even in the middle of the game when there are tons of units in the game.

Again, congrats El Justo on a wonderful masterpiece and also to my team mates that help make this possible.

Enjoy!
