LSOE 3-Huayna

Sorry for the delay, but choosing and planning classes for 11th grade takes a priority.........barely. Coincidentally, I choose IB World Religions as a class. :p I also refuse to use spoilers for such a short game.

Parte 2: La Gran Confederacion Incaica de las Cinco Creencias(The Great Incan Confederation of the Five Faiths)

Inca Huayna 'Buddha' 'Christo' Capac the Wise had learned much from reconciling with the gods, and the main lesson: Religion is good, and building triumphs to their glories makes the gods happy. Buddha Capac chartered a building displaying ALL the gods with him as their servant, to further demonstrate his faith. He called it the Grand Parthenon of Tiwanaku.

Inca Capac decided to begin writing fortune cookies. They where hard shelled cookies that bore a piece of paper within them, stating future events. While meditating, Inca Huayna's hand began to move on it's own accord. Inca Capac calmly observed as he saw his hand glow and draw an object that appeared to have strings. Huayna assigned his best architects to the job, and after several years of hard work, many deaths, and chaffed thumbs, Huayna had built a building that resembled what the gods had asked of him. As soon as he sanctified the building by calling it 'La Guitarra', giant hands swooped down from the sky and dropped off a man by the name of Mozart on the ground. Eventually, sound began to be played. At first, it was horrible, but as years passed, a festive tune would play from dawn till dusk. Huayna had created music. Mozart settled down in Machu Picchu and began disclosing the secrets of instrument making, turning Machu Picchu into the musical heart of the Incan Realm.

Huayna soon received another reward by a melody from the gods while playing music in the Parthenon from a harp. Huayna listened as pan flutes and deep voices rumbled across the hills of Cuzco and the very hills seemed to drum with sound. Huayna soon wrote down all the directions and told his scribes to put it into practice. Despite not really knowing what he had done, he had turned Cuzco into a bureaucracy. When Huayna soon had to file 100 different papers to play music for the gods, he became fed up and held a deep dislike for bureaucracy.

He began plotting ways to establish greater control over the religious control of his nation. While he was content at the moment to be a religious prophet to all religions, he knew eventually conflict would arise on his death. He was old, not feeble or weak, but still rather old. He proclaimed that the title of Pope, Dalai Lama, Jade Emperor, and Master Kong where all hereditary to his chosen heir. He proclaimed his son Ninan Cuyochi his heir. He assembled all landowners and proclaimed his decree, but after receiving many skeptical looks, he remembered he was immortal apparently and sheepishly dismissed the assembly.

More secrets continued to be leaked to the ears of the Great Inca Prophet, and the guardians of Shangri La, as the Confederation of the Four Faiths was formally known, continued to guard against barbarian intrusions. They where very religious men that had proven their loyalty to all faiths and the Great Prophet asked the gods if they where worthy of being honored, to which they agreed in a rumbling voice that made thunder and lightning roll across the sky. He proclaimed himself the Grand Guardian, and built a monument representing the Guardians. Just like them, the figure was clad almost entirely in bronze.

Many years had passed and the gods had ceased playing music and communicating with the Great Prophet. Worried, the Great Prophet prayed for forgiveness of any wrongs he did. Eventually, his vanity in building a statue to himself was pardoned, and the gods sent a new faith to the realm of Shangri La. The people where visited by imams who seeked to spread this new religion. That imams proclaimed the Great Prophet the Caliph and assumed their posts in the mosques of Shangri La.

The Great Prophet thanked the gods by building another monument to their greatness, depicting grand pictures of their imagery in the form of men, showing their great in an eternal struggle with evil.

More great buildings to the gods continued to be built, however, this wonder had a more Islamic and Christian touch than the others. The Great Prophet built it knowing full well that more wonders would be built to honor other religions. He soon fulfilled this promise by building a temple to Eastern Philosophy.

Feeling satisfied with the devotion and prosperity of Shangri La, The Great Prophet once more prayed to the gods for guidance. What the gods said has never been fully accounted for, but after descending from the ritual cliff where the Prophet has prayed from day one, he proclaimed an end to Bureaucracy and suppression of speech, and decreed that any branch of any religion would have the right to practice freely.

More importantly, by doing so, he had created an atmosphere of pride in the tolerance of the people of Shangri La. The people began to identify as one, and within a few years, the son of The Great Prophet had died. In his grief, the Prophet asked the people to donate for the creation of a tomb for his son.

Before the death of his son, he had been planning a new marvel in Machu Picchu to announce important times of prayer, but the death of his son combined with the unrest from the sudden freedom to act, had delayed the project just before it's completion. Regardless, it was completed, several years behind schedule, and it bore the inscription 'To have faith is to have trust, and to have trust is to have tolerance and faith in others'

After the death of his son, the Prophet had been stricken with grief. Now that his son finally rested in peace, the spirit and faith of the Prophet had risen, in thanks for the gods for securing his son a place in eternal rest that would make the gods themselves jealous. For Huayna had built the grandest tomb in all of earth!

Several decades passed peacefully and quietly. The Inca had acquired gunpowder and was in the process of blasting holes into cliffs to make space for new temples and monasteries for the faithful. He had scantly communicated with the gods after completing the tomb and holding a tremendous festival to honor the gods and his son. He soon realized his error, and made his way back to the familiar cliff path, to where he sat down and began to meditate about his accomplishments and thanking the gods.

So, there we have it. Super culture-spam. I haven't taken any more pictures of Great People because I've gotten 2 scientists, 2 merchants, 2 prophets, and 2 artists. The artists where settled in Machu Picchu, I used the 2 merchants to help with food deficit, the scientists where settled in Cuzco, and 1 prophet was settled in Cuzco, the other used for a shrine. I forgot that shrines give culture bonuses :p

Anyway, I have yet to build cathedrals, which should boost the speed of a culture victory. At one point I had 12 barbs invading, but they seem to have scaled back. First time I've ever seen a barb horse archer though. After this game, it's on to Shaka! ()

You need more great artists or it's going to take forever :p.

My spoilers should be good now...it won't reveal anything you don't know (I'd have not put it in spoilers at all, but that I didn't meat any american civs would have been a mild spoiler).

What gives more benefits, faster Cathedrals or running more Great Arists? I can take off every workshop and plains/tundra tile and add 2-4 Great Artists per city. I'm going to guess roughly that running Great Artists while building the Cathedrals would be a better bet. I could most certainly be wrong though. :p

I forgot to mention that I missed the University of Sankore by 1 turn. Going to Bureau right away might not have been the greatest idea....that or Caste. Should I swap to Pacifism to push out more Great Artists?

The answer to my above question: Both at once

Parte 3: El Reino Del Cielo(The Kingdom of Heaven)

The Great Prophet Huayna Capac silently meditated as his priests argued, trying to curie his favor. One of the men, Atahualpa, was a staunch Muslim and wanted to build a shrine to Islam. Another, Huascar, insisted that Islam had received enough wonders and that it was time for a Taoist shrine. The Prophet stood up and silenced them. "We shall never shed a drop of blood again, as has so told me the gods."

The Great Prophet decided to tour the Confederation of the Five Faiths, Shangri-La, Tahuantsinsuyu, The Confederation of the Three Cities, or the Inca Empire, depending on who you ask. He was indeed indecisive on who would receive the next great monument. He decided to begin the tour by heading East into the Jungle from where no one returned. After escaping several giant snakes, a pit trap full of spikes, and slashing his whip a few times(?), Huayna arrived at a jungle village of traditional Buddhists. He stayed with them for a few weeks, observing the way they treated him, dressed in the clothing of the poor. They where parrot tamers that had recently begun their business. Huayna took a liking to their ways and the way in which they helped hi, a stranger,, and decided to sponsor them after revealing his true identity. They, in awe, showered the Prophet in praise. Huayna told them to cease and promised them a loan.

Huayna returned to Cuzco and began the construction of massive monuments of faith in Shangri-La. As the New Age faith tells us, Shangri-La had reached such a state of religious perfection, it's people noble and true, it's leader faithful and humble, it's poor thankful and cared for, the streets lined in monuments to faith, that the moment the Prophet set foot in Cuzco, the ground around Shangri-La began to rise. Massive trembling occurred, but nothing was damaged, and a golden light shone through the clouds. Slowly, slowly, day by day, Shangri-La rose closer to the Kingdom of Heaven. The Prophet began meditation, patiently awaiting the day of reckoning of Shangri-La for him and his people. Only once they reached the Kingdom of Heaven would they receive their judgement. The days seemed eternal, the peaks of the Andes eventually where level with the ground. Several decades passed. The old died out, and a new, more impatient people where born. These people had never experienced life on earth, and where thus a mid-stage point for the rise into the Kingdom of Heaven. At this point, the peaks where barely visible from the edge of Shangri-La. More decades passed, and these people too, died out. Only the Prophet remained, in eternal meditation. A new people where born yet again, but these people where so close to the Kingdom of Heaven that they where themselves restless. They where rude, arrogant, and impatient. They suffered from lust, gluttony, greed, heresy, anger, violence, and malcontent. The Prophet did anything, for he was in his timeless meditation. These people ran wild, and where a nearly godless people, believing that because Shangri-La had risen from the ground, they would be received in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Three religious, cultured, men stood out from these insane sinners and devoted their lives to their faith and culture. Upon their death, Shangri-La jolted as though struck by an earthquake. Although they did not know it, Shangri-La had risen faster.

Civ4ScreenShot0004-27.jpg

Eventually, a white gap was visible in the sky. Shangri-La had descended into a mess of civil destruction and lawlessness. However, the people gathered excitedly, and suddenly, the city of Cuzco bolted out of the ground into the hole. Tiwanaku and Machu Picchu soon followed years later. Shangri-La had become a part of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Civ4ScreenShot0007-25.jpg

The Great Prophet awoke and walked through a door that appeared in front of him. He was in an endless room, surrounded by a man clad in armor, a man in a turban, a man in leopard skins, a man in a shawl, a man in a suit, and a man in kimono. They all wore caps on their heads. In the center, was a man who shone like a light. The Great Prophet bowed in front and thanked god for admitting him into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Civ4ScreenShot0008-25.jpg

Then God told the Prophet he was Jewish. He was an unforgiving god, and the Prophet had spawned off two heretical faiths, and 3 pagan insanities. He, however, acknowledged that the Prophet had acted with faith in his heart his entire life. Therefore, he would join the Kingdom of Heaven. As for Shangri-La and it's people, as punishment, they shall fall to the earth for their heresey. He may have achieved his goal to reach the Kingdom of Heaven, however, he was the lowest prophet in the Kingdom. All of the men that had met with God when he first showed up where higher in the priestly scale than him. As his punishment, he would forever live the life of the inferior.

God, the score was awful, but I won. :p No save for the finale, I forgot to save and started a new game. Ah well, but it's time to move on to Shaka.

Well won and written!

Shaka has a bizarre start location on GEM (which I assume you are doing). It would be interesting to see how you handle it.
