Belgians welcome soldiers home!
Following the signing of the Second Treaty of Belgium, our men and women at arms are being returned to their homes and families. All naturalized Belgian citizens are welcome to return to their homeland on the convoys that are being prepared. Prime Minister DeNantes is calling the treaty a great success for Belgium, and says it will assure a rebirth of the Belgian economy. Inside parliament, one could hear the pop of champaign bottles that served as a constant background noise throughout tonight's celebrations. In the streets of the provincial capital, the massive line of returning soldiers were greeted with hoots and cheers from a elated crowd. Belgian flags flew from every roof this morning, as hundreds of men, women and children flocked to the streets to celebrate what many political analysts are calling the end of the Great War.

Supreme General Pontemps' Speech to the Commonwealth Army
Mr. Pontemps is to make a speech to assembled Belgian enlisted military today in the provincial capital, as well as any civilians who might attend. Pontemps' speech has been kept very quiet and bottled up since the announcement of the signing, but it is sure to be a joyous occasion. It is hard not to be happy in these days, now that we see so many young men and women who might have had their lives ended on the field of war returning to their families. A new generation of Belgians will be born, that will again feel the warmth of a fireplace in winter, and the cool air of the Ardennes in the summer. Belgians everywhere are going home.

Treaty of Boston

- The United Kingdom will give Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad, and their colonies in the Lesser Antilles to the United States of America.

- The United Kingdom recognizes the United States' right to limit the size of Canada's military as long as they are a Dominion.

That is totally rediculous, Spain and Germany (the only parties involved in actual combat with Portugal) have both signed the treaty. The United States has no reason to still be at war. Portugal shall no longer reconize a state of war with the United States, but when you are ready to end your state of war we will be be ready. We're waiting too.

- Perhaps the best agreements are those where neither party is happy.

It seems like I just freed up my 100 boat strong submarine fleet. Care to make me active in the European war?

OOC: US, Portugal. Play nicely.

I think it means that his 100 some subs are closer to Belgium, then to Portugal.

Well that's not very nice :p

Treaty of Dublin

Germany and Ireland enter into a mutual defensive pact and become trade partners.

OOC:Excuse me?
I thought the United States of America was a nation devoted to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness? Are you impling that you are going to attack a nation you have no qualms with, thus depriving that nation of all three of the aforementioned values? Now we understand that we are no citizens of your nation, but your founding fathers also declared that all men are created equal and have God given rights to these values. Now have you renounced your founding values or have you decided that the people of Portugal are not human, but beasts ready for slaughter?

If the second case is true Portugal feels obligated to warn the inhabients of this Earth that the United States now determines one's humanity on an arbitrary basis, if you are no longer deemed human then you may want to evacutate your family to a remote location and live with the other "beasts" - Thank you, this has been a Portuguese Public Service Annoucenment. Have a Nice Day :)!

To the United States would you like to join the Treaty of Dublin?

Or would you like to draft your own treaty?

The gathered mass fidgeted and twitched as the hour approached, and the clock struck. To the eruption of cheers, and the raising of rifles, Michel Pontemps marched out onto the wooden platform in the center of the square. The night was illuminated with candles and street-lamps, and the moon shone down upon the crowd that gathered in front of the provincial assembly that had served as parliament for the past year. As Pontemps looked out to the crowd, he saw hundreds of faces he had never seen before, but expressions that he could empathize with as if they were his closest friends.

Pontemps and the crowd stared at each other for just a moment. Pontemps began, "People of Belgium", "you have witnessed much in these past years. You have seen smoke over your homes, and seen the shrapnel of the enemy penetrate into the skin of your friends, your family. Many of you have seen things that no man should have to see." Pontemps paused for emphasis.

"But a new day has dawned. We are blessed, for we have fought our way through the winter, and now stand on the threshold of an unparalleled spring. Though the dark clouds of regret and nightmare still rain upon us, they shall serve as fuel for the proverbial rebirth of our nation. Belgium has played its part in the Great War, as have all its people. Soldiers of the Commonwealth Army, when your children ask you, 'What did you do in the Great War?', you may know answer proudly, 'I fought for Belgium!'." With these words, those soldiers present raised their arms into the sky and pumped their fists, cheering and hooting.

"Citizens of Belgium! You have endured hardships that none should have to endure. In the annals of time, your struggles shall be remembered. Let no one forget your sacrifice! The Belgian flag will yet again fly over Brussels, and soon we shall all know peace and warmth again."

Observing from above in the halls of the building, politicians strained their heads to peer through the curtains at the crowd. Pontemps' last words had a profound effect, on the civilians, parliamentarians, and soldiers. Thrusting his hand into the air in a fist, the Supreme General shouted, "Long live Belgium!"

Pontemps fancied he could hear fireworks going off at the sound of his words, as did most of the crowd, but it was merely the thunderous applause.

I'm turning the treaty of dublin over to TLK to build since I'm goin on vacation. Also he will be handling Ireland's diplo for the next few days

Dear Obviously Confused Portuguese Person,

I regret to inform you that the our Declaration of Independence applies to the United States, not to Portugal. If you would like to be subject to the rules and laws of the United States, including the enforced rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, then we suggest you take the appropriate steps to become a state in our lovely country. Maybe, we could just take your thoughts into consideration...maybe we could enforce these inalienable rights upon the world. You know, it wouldn't be the first time this happened. Some Frenchmen attempted to do it once.

But on to more serious business than Portugal professing it's love to American society. The United States and Portugal do have qualms. It is actually a big qualm which has a short name. In case you had no idea of what word I was speaking of, it was "war". "War", by the way, is when two countries become so hostile with one another that conflict arises. The reason why this "war" started was because Portugal decided to not only invade our Spanish friends, but opened up her ports and facilities to allow a sizable British invasion army to land and invade Spain as well. I am pretty sure no American found this to be in good taste, seeing as Portugal was given a warning well beforehand, and this "war" was declared.

Now, seeing as Portugal has not approached the United States in order to make a "truce", which is when two or more warring (warring means someone or something making war) parties agree to end hostilities. This hasn't happened. Portugal did however state it has no qualms with the United States. This however is not a "truce", but in fact poor geopolitics, which most government officials have a general understanding of but, alas, Portuguese universities must not teach this.

As was mentioned, it was stated that the Americans find the Portuguese to be "beasts" or some sort of sub-human. Now, this is just plain untrue. A more correct statement would be that the Americans find Portugal's heads of state to be mentally incompetent. This means that they are unable to or struggle to think on the basic level a standard person thinks. The reason why this is widely accepted view in the United States is because, in the recent past, Portuguese leaders tried to make demands when a treaty was being discussed when Portugal was clearly in no position to do so. This still holds true.

I hope that clears up some things, and if you have any questions, would like to make a truce, or would like to apply for statehood, please don't hesitate to contact us through private channels.

Good Day,

Owen Culp
Vice President of the United States of America
