Tom's Unit Factory

Good points, for steam, it doesn't look good for this when using the semi-transparency or transparent portions of the palette. Since the renders can't really come in completely opaque, I will use an almost white or extremely light-grey/white background instead of Magenta, to force the pixel blending into colors I want (make the outer edges only the most transparent portions of the 2nd palette row), and see how that works out (if I need to)

Other than that, I will slow the speed of the steam down, and make it so it doesn't fly out so much, and I should be close to finished.

EDIT: This will likely be final result.

Unit is finished, just have to add sounds and PCX files. Steam looks almost identical in-game as it does in the gif. Could not find the sounds in the Atlantica Online sound folder ?? so I'll have to make my own.

Also fixed the unit (the middle 'body' was attached to the left arm when I imported it into 3ds max). I have removed all other gif's to not bog the thread down. Green color is the civ colored portions.

I'll have the unit up in a few hours, I need a break right now.

Too cool! One question: What exactly is that blue force emanating from his drill thingy? Is it magical? Just wanted to know if it had a name in the files or something. Whatever it is supposed to be, it's cool.

Universal Mining Robot (unit conversion)

Civ color has been added. Smoke, Steam, and Fire Special effects, and sound effects created by Tom2050.

I have no clue what the blue thing is. No name in the model, but it was there, so I used it. I guess it is either a mining laser, or was supposed to be just some type of glow perhaps. It looked nice, so I kept it in, and just changed it's opacity during the animation for it to turn off when not in use (power up, power down, etc).

This was for Balthasar, and I am glad he had it on the list... I learned a horde of new stuff from doing this one, will help me in the future with problems I didn't know how to solve prior.

That is a really awesome looking unit! Great work!:goodjob::)

Thank you for all the work you put into the Universal Mining Robot Tom. It turned out terrific.

Next one, Beast Master, has 18! animations; should get done fairly quickly though (maybe tonight).[/IMG]

Warning, you may get a cult of tom2050 worship starting soon! :worship:

You're getting far too good at this... which is a good thing, of course.;)
