HAND (Hydro's A New Dawn)

HAND (Hydro's A New Dawn) is a modmodmod. Which means its a mod of a mod of a mod. The purpose of this mod is to add much more content than is included into RoM or AND. This means things are not always balanced and you may get overwhelmed. If you are ok with that then please download this mod. If your not then I suggest you stick with just AND or even just RoM.

Requirements for HAND v1.3
- Beyond the Sword v3.19
- Rise of Mankind v2.92
- A New Dawn v1.74
- NOT Recommended to be played with any other Mod than those listed above.

Requirements for HAND v1.2
- Beyond the Sword v3.19
- Rise of Mankind v2.91
- A New Dawn v1.73

Installation

Unpack the WinRAR to your Rise of Mankind root folder. This is usually:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind\

You may have to adjust this depending on which drive you installed Civ4, and whether or not you bought the Complete Edition.

Ok I have some good news and bad news.

The good news is I am making this semi-modular. Which means each mod will be in a separate folder inside my Hydro folder. However since installation is going to just be unpacking by winRAR you will have to delete the mod you don't want manually. Each mod should work independently from the other though. I hope this will make those who want the ability to choice happy. This basically means if you like say the Garbage Civics mod but don't like the Domestic Animal Mod then you can just delete the Domestic Animal Mod.

The bad news is that its taking a bit longer to un-merge the mods I previously merged together when thought they were all going into AND. So bear with me while I un-merge mods like "Early Buildings" and "Civic Buildings" so they can be stand alone mods. In short its not hard to do just takes me a while to do it.
 
cool, so all your mods from AND have been removed and if we want it must we just wait for this download and we can put it in? So many changes :( will be waiting:D how long you think you'll take?

I though it's > 10 mb, that's why i'm agree on Aff to exclude HAND from AND installer(because a limited bandwith guy which don't like HAND would suffer a lot)
+ 2mb (which is 1/60 of the installer) wouldn;t hurt a lot i think
But anyway, nice work Hydro :D
 
I actually made it smaller when I combined it all into one file. However that made it not modular anymore.

Also I just found a bug. The "Crafts Hut" was left out when I separated them back out again. But no worries it shall be fixed in the next update. However I would like to get a lot more bug fixes and maybe even new mod components before then. So happy playing in the meantime.

XML, Python and the SDK are actually a rather small portion of all mods, combined they take up roughly 20% of the mod's size. The large impact in mod sizes are Images (buttons, skins, event pictures, etc) then sounds (ambient or background music) followed by models and movies. However this is why Firaxis advises to use Pakbuild when adding images videos and everything in between to the game... hell every gaming company uses some sort of mass media compressing program (whether it be .pak, .mpq, etc) to reduce the size of the game files.

Celebrity, Story Teller and Surgeon are actually AAranda's units. I just made them modular and updated the schema files for RoM 2.91

The Sniper units are also AAranda's but also have some stuff by StrategyOnly in them.

Did you include StrategyOnly's sniper promotion or did that get dropped from the pack when it was merged into AND originally?

The Monk and Fanatic are by The_J just ported to RoM by me.

Coming soon the Fundamentalist an upgrade to the Fanatic by me art by others.

Ok I fixed my credits and just listed them as "Custom Units" in the features section.

I'll help you test it. I do like your stuff. I can look at helping balance things if you are looking for feedback that way too?

Yes please give feedback. I am aiming for Friday for the release of HAND v1.1.
 
Main comment - dunno if its still the case (doing a reinstall here as I type) but when i played the old AND game with the medical options enabled, something really bothered me about the Dentist building - why does sugar add an unhealth penalty with the building? I can understand sugar isn't healthy but that's what dentistry is designed to offset - if there's an unhealth it should come from the resource, not the building, and the building should offer an overall improvement to health >_>
