Sid Meier, The Civilized Tyrant: The Long Sino-Civfanatics War
The time has come for Sid to secure his home hemisphere. There is much to conquer and starting in your home turf is the first step. However, that requires a navy and time for Sid to get Frigates, so we research Chemistry one turn to open up this trade
And Sid lowers the science slider to 0% to build up thr treasury and upgrade all the triemes/caravels to frigates. Meanwhile the last few world leaders begin to show themselves
we open borders and end up ignoring Asoka because the Civfanatic Empire has other things on it's mind
The army is sufficient enough to kicj the Chinese and Summerians off our home continent. Note the spy in the city which reduced the cutlure defenses allowing a fast assault.
But of course remains courteous to all leaders, going through proper channels.
As the army moves against China, our navy is finally upgraded
It took damage through the long war but lasted as long as we needed. This fleet was sent towards the front to transport troops and reduce defenses.
Once Chemistry was done Sid concentrated on Replaceable Parts and Rifling.
The first Chinese city fell easily
And CHEESE! was placed in charge.
Replaceable Parts was researched and based on the number of leaders, no tech can be considered a monopoly, so we traded and got what we could
Solid techs although Divine Right was taken only for throw in to trades. No civics were changed just yet.
The bulk of the army was trasnported to the Chinese home island and an agressive assault on Bejing was made, leaving the Summerian captial for later.
Bejing was given over to IPEX 731BAS-SS06 for management. Numerous Wonders make this one of the better prizes so far.
We managed to get a hold of Constitution
And met one of the French Leaders (come on you knew one would be arround).
The most agressive but usually the worse techer.
Finally, the City of Neal spits out the Next GP
No question here, we start a Golden Age for a large civic swap
We wait three more turns until we start drafting rifles and make an attempt to take Shanghai
The war went poorly here and we were forced to retreat before all out troops are wasted here.
The next leader we meet
Just as we bign the retreat to The City of IPEX
It was here that a major counter attack came from Mao. Fortunately the enemy stack stopped right at the walls of the City of IPEX allowing us the counter attack the counter attack with a Stack of Knights, previously promoted from Numidians. With the flanking promotions many knight survived and the dangerous trebs were completely destroyed. A glorious battle with magnificent military tactics shown by IPEX, Mao was never able to launch another counter attack and resorted to cowering behind his city walls hoping his protective trait works.
We finish Rifling and begin Scientific Method, mostly because I want to get Communism before we finish the Golden Age. Here we met the Last leader, from the missing Americans.
The easiest and the Americans to get along with, especially post-Democacy.
Summeria's Capital fell
And was given to CableDawg
We finished Communism and changed civics
The economy was helped, but not all that much. The extra trade route from Free MArket was rather big.
Democracy was researched next, and the Civfanatic army healed and the assault on Shanghai resumed.
Drafted rifles provided great support here as well as upgraded maces.
Democracy did not take long as this trade came up
Too bad we do not have enough time in the Golden Age to swap to Emancipation.
Peter provided Steam Power and soon we were going down the Steel/RailRoad/COmbustion tech path!
At this point the Chinese empire began to collapse
And I will save you the numerous screenshots. Suffice to say that Obsolete/Mattimeo/InFlux5/KingMoran/NOTO/Refar/FutureHermit/Absimiliard/Charou/Xanadux were all given cities to govern.
In fact, Gilgamesh put up more of a fight that MAO (Maybe because he managed to get to rifles!)
We find more key trades
For the record, Sid is perfectly fine with finishing the entire tech with most of the leaders left. Modern warfare has it's entertainments!
THe Summerian city is captured
And Sid is annoyed to find out that Gilgamesh is still alive and cannot be found right now. So we proceed to take the last Chinese city on this landmass.
The only Question is whether we stop here with Mao left to 2 cities on an off-shore island, Take capitulation, or finish him off. we opt for choice #2.
Soon the last Chinese city is captured
And Mao's head is lopped off by an Angry Absimiliard. we take peace with Gilgamesh, neither wanting to take him as a Vassal or hunt him down.
To Be Continued.........
