Problem Starting Up Tutorial

Hi! Just bought it today through Gamestop downloads.

Everything installed just fine as far as I can tell, I loaded up everything just fine and I can start and play a normal game (which is difficult as I don't know what I'm doing). When I click on Tutorial a pop up comes which reads "Loading Tutorial" in the heading and "Restarting to Load Tutorial..." in the text box.

After that the game shuts down and I get another pop up with a heading of "Civilization4.exe" with the text box saying "You can not run multiple instances of this application at the same time."

What is my problem? I have no idea what's wrong.

I am having the same problem as well. I am running on windows 7. I just bought the complete version download from GameStop.

Thanks

Kent

PS just found a solution. Run
Civilization4.exe mod="Tutorial" from the directory it is installed in

Hey Kent. I have the same exact problem, but I didn't see that file anywhere. I see tutorial.ini, but that's about it.

If you mean running the mod from the game, I tried that too, but I still got the same error message about not being able to run multiple instances of the application.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Tutorial.ini is in Civilization 4\Mods\Tutorial\

Run the command I suggested from the Civilization 4\ directory

Can someone please help me? I am having the same issue and your directions are going over my head.

I goto load up any scenario and the game crashes, stating that multiple instances of the game cannot run. I also downloaded from Gamestop for this Civilzation 4 complete edition.

So I see where you guys are talking bout running ini files, I see the files, but how do I run them from outside the game? Thats the part going over my head.

I've never used windows 7 or your exact version of civ, but I'll help you as best i can.

In order to use the commands suggested you need to put them in the command line of a short cut or type them in at the command prompt. From your questions it sounds like you aren't familiar with doing that sort of thing.

The name of the executable for my version of civ 4 is "Civilization4.exe" If your version has a different name, you must substitute it for that when you type it in. The name must be exact or it won't work.

you can find instructions on how to open the command prompt you need here.

What you need to do is find the folder civ 4 is installed to. Use the instructions I linked above to open a command prompt at that folder. At that prompt type

Civilization4.exe mod="Tutorial"

Then press enter. If you did it right, that should launch the tutorial mod. I hope this helps.
