IOT Developmental Thread

I'll go for no NPC's, but still think their should be some way to spice the colonization age up. I guess human countries in the Americas is the only way, but I really want them to be kept to realistic levels for Indians. It would make it unfun if someone tried to creat a super-advanced country in America that had radioactive monkeys or giant death robots when the Europeans reached them.

A big no to NPCs. They stick.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. Euros and Natives should not be able to communicate before the Euros arrive.
And I'm going to try to be as historical as I can (I'm aiming for France) So I'd colonize Louisiana Territory, Quebec, etc.

NO HISTORICAL ACCURACY

Alright, I'm going to Colonize; Mexico, Florida, Cuba, Hispaniola (To Historical)
And All of South America :p

Also i vote no to NPCs. My Idea was based for People wanting Native Civs (West India Man)

to joecoolyo: hey, is ti OK that i can claim like 3 or so territories, and then switch to being America? Byzantium would turn into an NPC or annexed to the nearest Empire.

Who would want to play as a nation doomed to be destroyed as soon as the Euro's arrive?

Nobody, so you should put Natives at equal advancement! [pissed] By the same logic, you should leave Asia and Africa locked as well, even though they had civilizations much more advanced than the Euros! [pissed] I agree to No NPCs, though thanks to you, my idea is completely ruined!!! [pissed].

(In case you wanted to know, it was a historical Portuguese Empire ruled from Brazil).

No one's claiming anything before thread starts. Joecoolyo, can you make this kind of post bannable?

Same to you, Mr. Byzantium.

Also, Joecoolyo, please say no.

Except that's not gonna happen.

Historical accuracy be damned.

What do y'all think of this map?

I like this map.

I support no special restrictions on player in the Americas - at all. so they can't colonize Europe, but if you're going to do that then the European nations shouldn't even be allowed to see them until the date that it's repealed. I would want to drive the English out with a super Aztec Empire or some other such nonsense as opposed to being flattened in twenty minutes.

So, I support that all nations on the map are perfectly equal.

That map looks familiar :) Let's go with that.

It's Victoria.

Outside of Europe and the Americas, the borders were terrible. I had to almost completely redraw Indochina, for instance. I'm still not fully happy with it (look at the mess in China, you can't tell where all the RL provinces are) but I figured it's probably good enough for our purposes.

I vote nay. NPCs are kind of like the new city states in Civ 5, they give a whole new way to play the game, either by making friends or conquering them. I think that instead of cutting them, expand them to be dynamic and make them more human.

Map: Yes
NPCs: I hate them, so I support Joe's idea.
Limited American expansion: Why the hell would anyone want to start in America then? So they can get steamrolled?

I still see errors on the map (Indian and Southwest Pacific have no border, Celebies lacks Indian Ocean border, Balearic and Iberia has no border, etc), but I vote yes. I vote no on native restriction. I already voted on the issue of NPCs.

It would certainly add flavour, but much of our diplomacy - cash, blockades, aid and so on - is all roleplaying anyway.
