Dropped my laptop not working anymore

This is a tough one. Probably it is something in the ac/dc connector on the back of your laptop. If that's the part of the laptop that you tripped over, it makes sense that the connector took the brunt of the damage and that's why it's not working.

However, considering your laptop fell on the floor...that damage could be anywhere. And, while it my not be powering on because the ac/dc connector is damaged and not give power to the laptop, that doesn't mean that other parts of the laptop are not damaged.

First thing I would do is take the hard drive out and find some way to back that information up. Once you've done that, you can look at other repair options. But yeah, it's going to come down to you finding a laptop repair place and plop down some money to find out what's wrong with it. I would check around to different places and see if someone will look at it for you cheaper than that.

If your laptop has even a half-dead battery, you should have been able to boot it without the AC/DC plug. Possible that the DC daughterboard got hit pretty hard, but it should still work off the battery then. When you try to power it up do the fans spin at all? If not, then the motherboard isnt even getting any power through to them which is a bad sign (Its dead in other words.) I would make sure you have the HDD backed up, and if you're out of warranty already, open it up and try to reseat everything/check for damage.
You could also try shaking the laptop slightly ( take out the HDD before you do this ) to see if there is any rattling. There shouldnt be any, and if it sounds like a small piece of something is bouncing around, you can be fairly certain the damage is extensive.

Ok I got my laptop repaired the battery was only loose and I got it fixed for free from a friend. So that's not a problem anymore.

However the laptop charger plug is bent and I've straightened it and tried connecting it to the laptop but its not charging anymore. Which is a problem. Is there a way to get the charger plug repaired or do I need to replace it? I called the laptop repair guy and they said they don't repair but they can replace it, and gave me a ballpark figure of between $75-90. Is this reasonable? Can't I go to some store myself and buy a charger for cheaper? Do they sell like that?
It's a reasonable price. I don't know a store that would carry them, but you could go online.
