We need a production queue up for the start!
So, let's decide what we want in it.
Our options at the start:
Warrior: 5 turns
Barracks: 20 turns
Settler: 15 turns
Worker: 5 turns
Granary: 30 turns
Temple: 15 turns
So, let your voices be heard in the production of our first city.
One of the bonus grasslands will be worked to start. Accordingly, I have edited in the turn it will take to build each project. Note that the turns do not take in to consideration growth, worker improvements, or micromanagement to avoid overflow.

I vote for a 'Settler first'! Let the second city build a Warrior.

Warrior, Warrior, Settler, Granary, Settler is a typical setup, but it always depends on how much food there is. I'd like to see our starting spot before deciding anything like a queue. If our city is shield rich and food poor, it might be Warrrior, Warrior, Settler, Barracks, Archer. Fair Tara can be an earth-mother or a battle-maiden, depending on where we find her.

I often go four warrior before I even think about building a settlers. I rarely choose expansionist civs, so the four warriors help pop alot of goody huts quickly. They also help get a good grasp of the recources everyone will have access to, and alows me to be in contact with lots of civs. But I admit I play on regent difficulty so my expererience is small.

I've already voiced my opinion. I'll go with what the majority wants.

With the Celtic Tribe of the Hibernia, and the way the reproduce, the granary may be over-kill.

A settler too early is not a good idea, IMO. First off, you want some explorers right away. Secondly, you'll want mps for happiness until luxes get hooked up. I would like 3 Warriors first, especially if Germany is nearby. They are known to come straight for your capital early, especially if it isn't defended.

I think a warrior first for exploration would be a good idea. It gives something to put shields in while we wait for enough population to build a settler. Also, exploration should be one of our top priorities, in my opinion.

Mr. Mayor, please post the build queue in the Governor's Rock thread so I can post it in the game play instruction thread.

If this is all good with everyone:
Warrior
Settler (If the city won't grow on time, change to warrior)
Warrior (Unless above changed to warrior, in which case settler)
Granary (Unless no pottery, in which case temple)
Temple (Unless already built, in which case worker)

Only one warrior will either leave Tara undefended, or not allow us to scout for a new city location. We must find a good site for our next city as Tara will not be food rich so our Warrior will be needed to scout. I just hope that we are not attacked early and our civilisation is over before it starts.

well, it's a bit late for that . we can put soldiers in later spots, but so many people wanted a settler first. on regent/monarch i often have my first city undefended, quite often having two cities with one warrior, and i do just fine, if not better than when i build more warriors than cities.
