Member of parliament Mohammed Shawabkeh (sitting on the right) first threw a shoe at political activist and former member of parliament Mansour Murad just before he pulled a gun at Murad.

Amongst a plethora of insults, Shawbkeh accused Murad of being a spy for Syria while Murad accused him of being a thief and a spy paid by the israeli Mossad.

Among other things I find it quite remarkable how unfazed everyone was by Shawabkeh's gun. Seems like using one as argument-enhancer isn't too uncommon in Jordan. Guns certainly are abundant there.

What's with the Middle East and shoe throwing? Don't they realize they're going to look pretty ridiculous walking out with just one shoe on? I mean unless they manage to retrieve it which may be difficult.

Isn't there a whole "shoes are insulting" thing in the middle east/ Muslim world/ Arabic lands?....oh I give up just insert the most PC option.

IIRC, when Sadaam Hussein was captured, after his most awesome offer to negotiate, as the Americans had him pinned down his was mumbling "My shoes! my shoes!".... As in "You guys are lower than my shoes"

And I can only assume the shoe thrown in the OP was an Air Jordan

More proof that these people can't handle democracy :mischief:

But is it a muslim or an arab thing? I get the impression that it only happens in arab countries.

I don't think anyone thought that he would actually shoot the gun on live tv...

You really missed a splendid opportunity by not providing a House of Commons video:

But the Koreans are the best:

The situation was already pretty hot, I wouldn't expect anyone to turn around and run off the stage--then you just get shot in the back.

I am enjoying the parliamentary fight club vids. And the one in the youtube related videos for the first of a cat interrupting a live broadcast by jumping on a reporter.
