Well, this is our first post-monarchy science poll and our possibilities couldn't come at a better time.

Monarchy gives us NO new techs until we research Warrior Code, but I suggest Map Making, as it looks like we're on an island, or Pottery, because we want Hanging Gardens as soon as possible.

So, without further ado, vote!

I thought this was already settled.

It has to be currency, because we need trade for caravans to help build our wonders, and we need currency to get trade! :crazyeyes

Otherwise it will take forever to build ANY wonders.

We need trade asap, or else we'll find ourselves outstripped in the race for any useful wonders at all. After we have filled all the lebensraum on our home continent then we will need mapmaking, but until then I don't think it's urgent. We're unlikely to meet anyone and be able to trade maps with them before that point anyway. I've got a feeling that the sea square with the land on the other side that we can see to the east will be a tiny island, but this is just a hunch. Either way, we're probably going to have to get some armies together to secure ourselves some more land for colonisation. I can see a middle ages war approaching so we'll need to think about warrior code and iron working, etc to get ready for this. Of course we could use crusaders and elephants, but I like to have defensive troops with some bite as well, which means legions or archers rather than just phalanxes.

Looks like everyone is thinking trade, do we need a backup tech in case our road to trade is blocked? To me the backup is pottery or mapmaking. I'd say pottery for the wonder since we can fit several cities on our island and can afford to wait for triremes.

I'll agree with Currency/Trade but as a backup could we not consider Masonery and build the pyramids
