edit: I've copied over the original green for one of the tree models and uploaded the new and improved golden&green ancient forest here. Good idea psychic llamas!

I like the first screenshot better. 2nd one looks strange with 2 much different coloring, mybe 4 types or something would look more real.
 
Second one reminds me of the "secret nazi forest" where trees were planted in a swastika, a variety that yellowed in early fall, creating said emblem admist the green forest. The German government chopped it for hammers and :)

This looks really good with the Elf city set recently developed over in the graphics forum.

(But not so good with the current 2.5D Yggdrasil art)

Very nice! I like the two color best of all. I haven't seen it in game yet but will play the Ljosalfar next game and check it out. Then I might replace the old grassland forests with the old ancient forests.

You mean like this? 3 different colors is the maximum that I can make, there are only 3 different models.

Excellent!
I was tired to move my prompt around for reading if it was an ancient forest or not.
I choosed the 1st version as it makes a clear difference with "regular" forest. I hope FFH team will include this is a coming patch!
 
Still I think the color contrasts should be less in all the, all more like golden (but some a but more green and some a bit more red).
 
i like the elf city set very much, but have no idea how to install it. Could one of you tell what i have to do to get them working ?
I cant find the folder that contains the grafiks for the elven cities...

there's actually six different tree layouts, but for some reason FFHII only uses the fifth one.

After experimenting around with the xml I've realized that only the fifth one looks good.

I think that if you unzip this into your FFHII directory it'll be everything you need for the elf city set.

you wont be able to change them in fall from heaven without going in and editing the XML. i wuld have thought the same applied for the elven city set :confused:
