Internet (Wonder)

That wonder is AWESOME. I was playing a diety game and more or less trying to stay out of wars. I was Babylon and i didnt have enough time to use my Bowman for a quick and early golden age. So i waited, and waited. I soon was catching up and selling techs to Carthage and the Ottomans (the two BIG powerhouses). Anyway, i soon got the Theory of Evolution which got me electronics and steel. I was able to sell those for some good luxuries and lots of gpt. Soon i got into the modern age. I got rocketry for free and sold that as well. Next i got fission and missed the U.N. by one stupid turn. Sold rocketry for ecology AND computers so that i had plenty of MI around. I went after MA and sold that to only the Ottomans because Carthage had declared war on the Ottomans and i wanted someone to do better (Ottomans). They ended up destroying a couple cities and nuking three including the capital.
This was fine with me because i was working on techs really quickly and was selling a lot. Soon i got the Apollo Program but realized i was behind the Ottomans (spy). So i got my money (9000 gold) and got Nuclear power for minituarization and 2000 gold. Soon after that, the internet was mine. My gold skyrocketed and i was soon working on Longevity and Cure for Cancer. Got both. Then i realized i needed superconductor and the Laser. So i tried to steal both. It worked twice. Because i was able to steal the two techs i needed, i built the Planetary Lounge and won. I was dissapointed with my score (only 2880 on standard map) but i had won my first game on diety, so i was happy. The weird thing, this was my first GA in the modern ages becuase i usually use Immortals.

I'm playing a Deity game at the moment myself, am about to get the ToE, and will use my Sipahi to trigger my Golden Age soon (playing as Ottomans).

Thanks everyone and Grey Fox make sure that you get the ToE because i beilieve that i won because of that wonder and free techs. The only bad thing was that i had to keep selling techs becuase if i didn't they would of demanded them. I'm glad i did sell them though, money

Best path to go down when you get the ToE is the next 2 techs that get you to hoover dam, not only because thats a very useful wonder, but because the AI doesnt research them for a long time, and so you can wait as long as you want to sell them out to the AI, and in the mean time you can also drop your science slider to 0 and boost your cash while you let the AI research all the other techs. If you do it right you can sometimes get 5 or more techs for each one you got free, and you will have tons more gold.

I don't have PTW. What does the internet wonder allow you to do? Steal techs with greater chances of success? After reading your first post that is my educated guess.

No, a free research center at every city.

And an automatic golden age if you haven't had one yet. That is what happened in my game.

you'd think that the internet would be a small wonder and the SETI program would only be buildable with internet, think SETI at home...
sorry, I should stop complaning

but why build the SETI program? it's never done anything...

what other new improovments/wonders are there in PTW? I heard something about a comercial dock, what'sa it do sea squares make 3 trade?
