DoC Domination Challenge

I think I'll go with India next. I have just finished Greece. Babylonia will be 4300 years of pain and 700 of rapid conquering.

Started with Athens and Epidammos. From the start Athens began to make wonders and Epidammos hoplites to counter Roma. Roma has to go from the start, since that's the only way to never see the Byzantines. I attacked Rome over the Adriatic see, while her legions were somewhere in Gallia. Rome fell quickly and reinforcements took Mediolanum soon after. Vibo Valentia required some sieging, but razing it ensured the Roman collapse. Then I fortified the passages to Italy and Romania and encountered the barbs on the flatlands north of Epidammos. Meanwhile Athens spammed pantheon wonders.

Later I took Carthago for the resources and turtled for a while. The Turks spawned and tried to flip Byzantion, which I was barely able reinforce in time. Had I known, I would've not founded it on the spot. Well eventually it all went well and the Turks capitulated. They proved to be ab excellent vassal pouring through the Caucasus to grab huge junks of Russia together with Germany. Other vassals were Germany, England, America and Mali. In the end I had a quarrel with Spain, which was enough to get land together with some culture bombs.

Nice :goodjob: Are Turkey, America, England and Germany your vassals?

A lot weird stuff happened in this game and some of them delayed my victory for decades. But lets start from the beginning:

I founded Takhashila with my starting settler and naturally flipped Dilli and Varanasi. Since India starts with insanely OP Iron Working, I had utilize it early and Takhashila churned out a stack of swordmen, axemen and spearmen, who went take Beijing from the Chinese. Meanwhile Dilli and Varanasi built the Pantheon wonders. I founded Chennai and reinforced my China forces with swords and catapults via the Straits of Malacca. Eventually I took Kumning, Nanjing and razed Hangzhou. Finally my Beijing forces and southern forces combined to take Xian, which collapsed China and they were never heard again. I had founded Dhaka on the Bananas after I had gotten Calendar. After Roma collapsed my Italian boot chariot managed to march into Rome without resistance and my european brigdehead was secured without any real effort.

Meanwhile Greece had somehow defeated Byzantium and remained stable. Then Turkey spawned and were eager to vassalise, since strong Greece was bullying them. I took the offer and sent cuirassiers and cannons (+conquerors) to take Athens as Turkey had Gaza to act as the Suez Canal. I figured that taking Greece's capital would collapse them, but it didn't and I was one turn from taking Sparta, when the Apostolic Palace forced me to sign peace! So Greece survived and my army was stranded in defenceless Athens.. Aztecs also vassalised to me.

Germany had become a real monster and they rifles before I did, since I was focusing on Medicine and Radio (perhaps the most important domination techs). germans were my best buddies, but out of nowhere they declared war on me and took Rome and Athens, which couldn't even reinforce, since Greece was never going to OB with me. France had capitulated to me after a short colonial war and was being conquered by Germany, when Germany finally collapsed and Greece inheritet most of their lands.

Meanwhile America had spawned and vassalised to Mali. I had also founded Denver and Chicago, while France had New Orleans. Turkey was unstable, since monster Greece controlled most of their core, so I finally managed to collapse them with mech infantries, bombers and tanks around 1920.

To get the victory, I fought monster Spain with five vassals into submission and took/razed some of their cities. I also capitulated Japan.

Nice, now try Khmer next *Evil laugh*.

As requested..

I rolled the first 600AD start and pushed immeatidely against China with everything I've got. I managed to get few mercs a took Guangzhou and Hancheng quickly. Nanjing followed soon and after that I just razed Kaifeng and let the rest of China to be. I pretty much beelined Optics, since Khmer production is terrible and I needed every unit I can get. I managed to crab the conquerors around 1450 and took Coyuca with them for my NAn port. I was also first to Liberalism and after taking Astronomy with it, Aztecs capitulated and Incas peace vassalised.

As usually, I was waiting for the european forces to challenge Mughals before taking over Patlipura and Delhi. Mughals collapsed even before I got to Delhi. Around 1750 I founded Isvapura and another city in NA. Meanwhile HRE controlled Turkey respawned and I took them in eventhough it meant a war against monster HRE. Luckily they collapsed soon and Turkey got some cities back.

After that I concentrated on teching and building the necessary wonders. A congress triggered a world war against me during which I took Portuguese Malacca with Catholicism in it (for CR). At some point I also drove the Americans in to the Atlantic together with the Aztecs. Later England and her vassals ganged up against me, but I took English posessions in India, NA and Australia, which was enough to collapse them. After the english collapse China immeatidely capitulated to me and I attacked Iran to get the rest of the land. After two turns they had had enough and they capitulated as well. That was enough to fulfill the domination requirements.

Leoreth needs to make some changes to the scoring...
That game was NOT a Neville Chamberlain. :(
I've tried to follow some of your advice regarding "sharing the burden"
of teching with vassals, but I just haven't been able to stomach
nothing short of complete technological superiority.
I suppose forcing vassals to stop trading with all non-vassal states
can prevent tech leakage to potential enemies?

I don't even know how scores work. They're usually worthless in RFC anyway, I tend to completely ignore them.

Russia seems to have gotten a monster, judging on the power graph. What happened to them?

@TD: Yeah, I know it is painful to share hard earned techs around for nothing, but I try to keep myself in sufficient tech lead anyways. I usually don't give up the late game techs like Robotics even to my vassals. Also with the Internet you can forget teching Fission, Artillery, Ecology and techs like that by yourself. Internet will keep you a step ahead. For that matter after Industrialism, Flight and maybe Refrigeration, I always go for Computers and Robotics. Usually I get Radio and Medicine before AL.

Russia was my best trading partner (after my vassals), but they suddenly collapsed around 1900. Due to overexpansion, I believe.

This was the closest one yet. However, I still think that Ethiopia was harder, since I had a lot bad luck in this one; like two of my vassals collapsing in the 20th century.

I founded 1NE from the starting spot, since I didn't want Arabs to flip my capital. Eventually this didn't turn out as well as I would've thought, but the spot still superior. In the beginning I collected cash from the huts around Eurasia and took Sur when Phoenicia spawned, since I needed a port to the Mediterranean Sea. Persia spawned, brought their army under my axes and then signed a quick peace. Meanwhile Sur was preparing a fleet and after building the pantheon wonders Ashur poured out axes, catapults and swords.

This army then landed next Rome and took it. I signed peace and let the barbs finish the Romans. Eventually I took Athens, Mediolanum and Messana. I also founded Lagash 1W and 2S of the european oil. After that it was smooth sailing until the Seljuks spawned directly in Ashur and Sur! I was one click away from retiring, but luckily I had enough troops around to take them both back on the next turn (Ashur had been building 11exp dumbos for a while). I WBd my palace and disappeared buildings back to both cities, since there is no way I could lost the cities, had the Seljuks spawned outside the cities like they should.

Another surprise was that the Ottomans flip Ashur. Well I took Doriskos from them after the unit flipping had stopped and that was the end of it. After that I crabbed triple conquerors, which came in handy when HRE declared war on me. I had even give up Lagash for a while to get my troops back from Persia, which they had attached to my empire. After taking back Lagash and sieging Wien HRE capitulated. I had also vassalised Aztecs, Mali and Incas. Later Incas and HRE collapsed though. I also secured my NAn interests. and then began to build up an army to encounter the mega empires of Spain, England and Russia. I fought each of them in turn because of congresses, but in a brief moment of peace I managed to vassalise respawned China and Vikings. I was still far behind on population, when the 20th century was nearing its end, so I sparked a nuclear war agaist monster Russia with Korea, Mongolia, Portugal, Ethiopia and Spain as vassals. I fired around 30 nukes around the world and conquered Spain and parts of eastern Europe to fulfill the requirements. In the end I also founded two cities in Canada and culture bombed them to get enough land.

jusos, what settings do you play under? your domination games seem very impressive. and why always go for central north america? your not amish or mormon are you?

In the first post, the settings for this challenge are specified as Monarch difficulty and Normal speed. It seems Jusos is playing 1.81 (non-SVN) as well.
The Midwest (Middle America) is home to the best city sites in the entire game.
One or two cities there can easily jump your economy up by 20+ points.
China and India will also help a lot, hence why you see Jusos conquer those areas often (I usually avoid them because I fear respawns)

TD got it all right. Americas are also almost always empty, so going there is easy. India and China are great as well, but getting there later is much more difficult, unless you are a nearby civ. No need to fear the respawns too much when you're solid.

Mali was the last civ I did in regular RFC, although Egypt was the hardest, but maybe I should give it a shot soon.

Do you have a save close to the Seljuk spawn perhaps?
