It's true: I started a new game with Germany (of all the times I've faced them in Civ, I'd never played them) and immediately got into the idea that I'd build the Gothic Style palace. So enamored was I, that I didn't notice I wasn't getting any palace additions...
So here it is in the late 16th century, and I'm still ruling from this cave. It doesn't even have a lawn, my cave. So... short of starting all over again (a thought I don't relish, even for a spiffy cave with lawn), is there something that can be done to correct this?
And has anyone suffered this same indignity?
For the record, I restarted from the insertion point of that game; I have a habit of saving the 4000BC beginning, in case I ever want to try again. It worked fine, and I got my palace immediately. So I ask my fellow Germans, "What did I ever do to you?", but I get no response. Not even a cave. Oh well. Please help.
P.S. Could not settling on my first turn have upset some cosmic balance? Sort of a civilizational one-time offer?
