SWEDE INVENTS NEW HOMEMAKER ITEM. Malmo, Sweden. A Swedish inventor patented the new electric washer this year, a device which is claimed to revolutionize the cleaning of clothes around the household. Produced as an item for homemaking mothers, the new device is showcased as a true time saver which will help families as a whole. The production of this device has just entered into service as the newfound company works to distribute to increasing demand nationally. Investors from France and elsewhere have looked into the project, but fear that it may make women too lazy, as they already require supervision to maintain their position within the household. Nonetheless, sales are beginning to pick up as people scurry to acquire this labor saving device.
BATTLE OF ENGLAND CONTINUES. Plymouth, England. Bombers from the Axis continued to pound the English nation this year, attempting to further devastate the island nation's industry and production. As in recent years, opposition against the airborne attacks has mostly evaporated as munitions and fuel prove too expensive to use excessively. The French bombers have been able to pinpoint and destroy a number of anti-aircraft installations, managing to level them without even losing a craft. The war has extended from beyond the shores of England, as the English use their Danish submarine cruisers to launch a naval war against French shipping. The Shark Submarines have proven effective against smaller French craft, surprising and devastating French escort ships. The greatest victory came when they managed to sink a battleship, attempting to enforce the blockade, though it did come at a hefty cost of a pair of submarines. Many observers question if an invasion will ever come, particularly as the English manage to stabilize their internal food sources against the threat of blockade and starvation.
Casualty List
France: 4 Destroyers, 2 Light Cruisers, 1
Caesar-class Battleship
England: 10 Anti-Air Brigades, 4 Shark Submarines
FRENCH PILOT BREAKS ALTITUDE LEVELS. Paris, France. A French war hero pilot managed to customize a standard PDHA-40 bomber this year and take his crew to much higher altitudes, finally able to gain an advantage over fighters. The pilot has designed and patented a configuration of engines which would allow for longer range and heavier capacity bombers and fighter aircraft. The redefining of the piston engine design may well drastically alter the methods of airborne combat, as heavier bombers may soon enter into production. The French have decorated the pilot for his efforts, and his training and leadership has been instrumental in the increasingly effective French air force. (+1 Air Force Quality)

ATTACK ON EMPEROR OF MALI. Timbuktu, Mali. Malian Emperor Mahmud V was attacked this year by an anarchist member of the Nijeria First Movement, being crippled by the shot. After several highly expensive and determined surgeries by the best doctors available, the Emperor was proclaimed to be stable, but has lost use of his left arm as well as some brain function. After less than a year of the recreation of the Empire of Mali, the first Emperor has been forced to step down in favor of a new successor. Rather than restoring the monarchy, elections have been held, backed by the small military, calling for the establishment of a republic. The elections went surprisingly smoothly, leading to a electoral victory of a moderate coalition of both conservatives and liberals. A new constitution has been written by the reigning party, with new elections to be held every four years. (+1 Stability)
PALESTINE ELECTIONS. Al Quds, Palestine. The elections in Palestine this year resulted in a turn of events, breaking away from Islamic domination of the country's politics. After the turmoil of the incumbent's recent reign, the nation has determined that it must shift to a more secular perspective. The Christian minority has thrown its support to the more secular Jewish dominated Liberal Party, alongside moderate Muslims. The Liberal Party has pledged to help maintain democracy in the Middle East, as well as to work to repair the rifts caused internally by the previous administration. Opposition leaders to the new government have led several protests, in a badly divided election, as no political faction maintains a true majority in the nation's Congress, despite Liberal control of the Presidency. (-1 Stability)
JORDAN ELECTIONS. Amman, Jordan. The Liberal Party in Jordan has so far been entirely uncontested by the opposing Conservatives in the country. The Liberal Party's successful development of the nation and growing economy have been strong influences in the electoral process, and the Conservatives found themselves hardly able to make any headway. The tide nearly turned when a major scandal of embezzlement broke out among the Liberal government, though the process continued unabated. The Conservatives accused the government of buying the elections, raising some suspicions towards the process as a whole. Despite this, the Liberal Party continues to remain in control, though they have promised to investigate any and all claims of corruption within the regime. (-1 Stability)
NIJERIAN ELECTIONS. Christiansburg, Nijeria. The first elections since independence from imperial rule were held this year in Nijeria, as various political movements competed for power. The Nijerian First Movement, reformed as a ultra-nationalist organization, modeled itself upon Lisist lines, using radio broadcasts and theatrics to help garner support. Bolstered by support from various French economical entities, the Nijerian First Movement has managed to establish itself as the leading power under Henrik Olesen, a Christian convert. The Nijerian First Movement has also become closely tied with the elimination of old African traditions in favor of a more Western approach to internal affairs. Olesen, a student of Korean transformation before the World Wars, has determined to follow a similar policy, establishing Catholic Christianity as the state religion and forbidding all other faiths. An authoritarian regime has been established with many opposing parties being outlawed for noncompliance with the new regime. (+2 Stability)
TOGO ELECTIONS. Lome, Togo. The government of Togo managed to preserve much of the national constitution, unlike their former comrades in Nijeria. The elections went as planned this year, and liberals and conservatives alike were able to put aside their differences to establish a dominant Moderate Party. This coalition movement has managed to sweep aside smaller political parties on a platform of the creation of stability and prosperity in the young new nation. The Moderate Party has managed to gain control of both the Presidency and Congress, and hope for their chance to prove their ability as leaders. (+2 Stability)
INSURGENTS ATTACK IN ABYSSINIA. Addis Abada, Republic of New England. The New Englander occupation force in the recently reclaimed country of Abyssinia has begun to face a rising series of insurgent attacks. Striking against isolated New Englander military outposts, it seems that the Abyssinian army is not quite finished with their war effort. The success of the Axis armies last year appears to have been only temporary as the rebels proved successful in the destruction of several installations. The imperial government has declared martial law in several urban centers, as a crackdown in initiated. Overall the effort has seemed ineffective as the rebels strike with great strength from the countryside, holding their own against colonial troops. DAM COMPLETED IN EGYPT. Cairo, Egypt. Several years of intensive work and labor since the end of Egypt's brief involvement in the World Wars has led to the completion of the anticipated Aswan Dam. Considered to be the largest scale construction in the African country since the reconstruction of the Suez Canal after the Suez War, the Aswan Dam has helped provide cheap electrical power to much of southern Egypt. As part of the regional warlord's plans for the area, the dam has helped provide much aid to farmers and urban dwellers alike, as this warlord pushes for modernization. The success of the construction has led to much debate among the three generals of the ruling triumvate as they struggle to determine wattage to be provided to other regions of Egypt.
MODERN FARMING PRODUCT INVENTED IN EGYPT. Alexandria, Egypt. Efforts sponsored by one leader of the Egyptian triumvate have led to the creation of a modern tool for more efficient agriculture. The great new invention, which has since been shown off at the Floridian Agricultural Institute, is the combustion harvester, which essentially allows a single farmhand to do the work previously done by dozens in the same amount of time. The new device has entered into production in Egypt as well as other locations, as farmers around the world express a demand for the new invention, hoping to further increase their production. The increased capacity of farms could well lead to even greater amounts of food to be brought to the world market.
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM COMPLETED IN PERSIA. Tehran, Persia. After several regimes and changes throughout the years, the Persian government has finally allocated the funds for the completion of the Infrastructure Development Program this year. The program has modernized railway transportation across the country, providing speedy transportation from one side of Persia to the other. The effort has also sponsored the paving of roads throughout the urban centers of the nation, providing better and more efficient use of automobiles throughout the country. This has encouraged the development of the local automotive industry, though most automobile users continue to buy from Russian production companies.

DISCONTENT IN PANCASILIA. Medan, Pancasilia. The Islamic theocracy of Pancasilia has faced its first internal issues this year as protests were launched, claiming that the government has failed to address the establishment of employment for the people. The poor state of the economy seems to have pointed out that many expected instant change with the end of Dutch colonial rule over the islands. The leaders of the government have attempted to point out that change is not instant and that the economy will take some time to repair. The opposition to the government, backed by the various socialist thinkers throughout the region, has helped spark several riots over prices and unemployment, leading to the deployment of the nation's minor military to help contain the unrest. MAORI REJECT NEW ZEELAND PURCHASE OFFERS. Nassau, New Zeeland. The government of New Zeeland attempted to act upon campaign promises of acquiring Maori land this year, offering to purchase the land from the natives. The Maori unanimously refused in the multitude of tribes, and in response the military was sent in to forcibly remove them, while still providing monetary compensation. The Maori, usually involved in infighting, have united in arms, and in a pitched battle successfully defeated the New Zeelander military. While not declaring independence, the Maori have refused to allow white colonization of the southern island, threatening further attacks on the sparse European outposts and trading posts throughout the island if further incursions occur. JEJU INCIDENT. Jeju, Republic of New England. The Korean government has come under harsh international ridicule and criticism this year after attempting to provoke an incident over the New Englander controlled island of Jeju. The Koreans claimed that the waters around the island were territorial Korean fishing waters, a claim which has never been disputed by the Republic of New England, who has allowed fishing to continue unhindered for years. During a well publicized fishing trip to the region, conveniently provided cameras were on hand to capture the explosion of several fishing ships near the island. The Korean government immediately claimed that the Republic of New England was responsible, despite their lack of interference with other fishing efforts. The press of the West and the Republic of China immediately followed this with ridicule and rejection, as it soon became blatantly obviously that New England had not stationed any heavy weapons on the island since the 1920s. Foreign governments have accused the government of Korea of trying to provoke a war and tensions, outraged that they'd attempt to renew a global conflict for their own selfish interests.

El Nacimiento de una nacion
Type: Moving Picture
Genre: Historical
Producer: Venezuelan National Film Productions
Running Time: 120 minutes
Summary: This film regaled audiences with the birth of the Republic of Venezuela, starting with the invasion of Spain by Napoleon's armies. The ensuing declaration of independence and Spanish efforts to hold onto their fragile empire serve as the backdrop of the movie, until the great Battle of Carabobo, which was filmed on location in Venezuela. The use of historians as well as consultants and investment from Russian film companies have helped make this picture an international success, even within the other nations of South America. Initially intended to serve as a national film of propaganda, it has proven to be surprisingly well done and popular among the various other countries in the region.
Eve of War
Type; Book
Genre: Political
Writer: Jens Larson
Length: 288 pages
Summary: Published in the Swedish Empire,
Eve of War issues a dire warning to Europe and North America about the dangers of French Lisism. Raising much ire from the population for his statement that the World Wars were only a small skirmish to the conflict of the future, writer Jens Larson has received massive criticism. Stating that the world run by Lisism is "destined to always live within the eve of war, governed by militarist rhetoric which will lead to the rise of ever larger wars." Larsen argues that ultimately the human race will reach a point where the destructiveness of wars will led to the devolution of mankind. The Lisist regime in France is accused of being the source of the world's future woes in the book, and a catalyst for global destruction. The book has been obviously banned in France and the Co-Axial Pact of Nations, as well as several neutral powers.
The Immigrant
Type: Moving Picture
Genre: Drama
Producer: United Northern Artists Company
Running Time: 189 minutes
Summary: Based off of the popular Jacque Puzo book, which has been translated into a half dozen languages and widely distributed in Europe and North America,
The Immigrant has been adapted into a moving picture. This is of great note as this is the first, and presumably not the last, novel to be brought into the world of moving pictures, made particularly special with the author's cooperation. The move is closely tied to the events of the book, but many critics have complained about the great length of the film, which runs just over three hours. The recent crisis in Quebec has also hindered movie sales, though it has received great popularity in France and Western Europe, if not in the Americas.

1948 OLYMPIC GAMES. Saint Augustine, Florida. The International Olympic Games this year were held with much success and fanfare in the tropical city of Saint Augustine, Florida, showing a dawn of a new era for the world. The bitterness left by the war and its aftermath were apparent in the games, despite Floridian efforts to maintain stability. The Games this year consisted of a record amount of tampering and fouls in group sports, and several athletes from France were forcibly deported for attempts to sabotage their competitors on some occasions. The Olympic Football Cup proved to be the most anticipated of the events, with an ultimate French victory in the games, though some observers made claims of cheating. The Socialist Union of South America and other powers made considerable showings in the events, and upon the conclusion, were awarded a sizeable amount of medals. At the conclusion of the games, the International Olympic Committee finally made its announcement on the 1952 Games. After heated debate, the Committee determined to recognize France's role in the establishment of the stability needed for the games to resume, choosing Barcelona as the site for that year's Olympics.
WORLD CUP. Milan, Republic of Italy. The World Cup this year was once again highly competitive, as the various football-participating nations of the global not only sent teams to compete in the Olympic football tournament but these games as well. The Axis-backed events proved to be a highly volatile series, leading to some riots in various countries. One such example would be the Quebec vs. Canada game, held in Montreal early in the year, and the resulting Canadian victory resulting in a riot, forcing the Quebecois government to deploy the military the help the Canadian team exit the stadium. Elsewhere, the tensions of the World Wars seemed to be reflected, as statisticians marked a steady increase in overall fouls as compared to previous years. Ultimately the final two teams standing were from Italy and Honduras in a pitched game in Milan, and in a rough struggle, the Hondurans defeated the Italian team two to one.
AMERICAN CUP. Richmond, Virginian Empire. The American Cup, while remaining overshadowed by the Olympic Games and the World Cup events, still maintains a strong base of popular support throughout North America. This year has seen the resurgence of the Richmond Football Club, one of the best teams before the war, as they regain the respect and prestige that they possessed. The Richmond Football Club managed to trounce every opponent until they reached the final game upon their home turf in the Royal Stadium. They met their opponents, the New Englander San Juan Football Club, which proved mostly successful in preceding games, though they won several times via technicalities or default. This showed obviously in the final game of the season, as the Virginian team crushed them utterly, three goals to none whatsoever, humiliating the New Englander team, and assuring once again, Richmond's place as a football leader.

ABNW 2.2 NOTE: For A Brave New World 2.2, I will be needing various party names for ALL countries, and this is one of the few things I can start on right away. If you would like to provide a less generic grouping of party names for your country or a country you may be familiar with, please, post on the thread political names for the following genres of political parties. This is of course can be applicable to any country, not just republics, as even dictatorships of ideologies of some kind. To prevent an argument, I consider ideologies in modern terms of "liberal" and "conservative" so keep this in mind. Also a move which would support this effort would be to provide names for legislative (Congress, Parliament, etc.) and executive (President, Prime Minister, etc) branches of your government. The ideologies are as follows, with optional ones marked with apostrophes, as some may not be legal in various countries:
Communist*-Socialist/Syndicalist*-Liberal-Moderate-Conservative-Lisist*(aka fascist)-Reactionary*
Nation stats may be a bit delayed after the update, as I have started the conversion process with some elements of it, and will be leaving notes on the stats posts of which parties have already been added into the database for ABNW 2.2.
