Rock/soft rock. We've had several of these polls already, and I think most (if not all) had many more options....
 
I'm an old fart... give me Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult... and I'll be happy. (and throw in the Beatles and Rolling Stones too)

Anything that's GOOD. There's cream and there's crap in EVERY style of music, I've found. The ratio varies from style to style, though.

But my tastes can't be labeled--they're all over the map, as long as they have QUALITY.

I listen to pretty much everything: yesterday, I played a great new improv-techno CD by a local band on the rise called The New Deal, a few selections from my "Foreigner's greatest hits" CD :goodjob:, and a CD of Purcell arias. But generally, I can't do you your survey, since blues tops my chart, with fairly conventional jazz holding a close second.

Weird, I know.

I like Grunge...lots. And also Metal..punk..alternative rock..

bands I like are (in no particualr order):

Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, Serafin, Machine Head, Silverchair, Halo, KoRn, Deftones, Feeder, Blink-182, The Cooper Temple Clause, Fear Factory, Pantera, Sepultura, System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine, Raging Speedhorn, Amen, Foo Fighters, [spunge], Jerry Cantrell, INME, Lost Prophets, Staind, Metallica, Ramstein, The Datsuns, Tool, AUDIOSLAVE (new band featuring ex-rage against the machine members and chris cornell, heard their first track 'Cochise' and liked it lots:D) and various other bands. I go and see underground punk bands quite alot.

Less than Jake :love: ska-like music, country, and some kinds of rock music are my favorite. I tend to hate most popular music, but every once in a while theres a half decent song I like. I like oldies too. Classical. Drum corps recordings.

I don't think Bon Jovi is metal; I would classify him as rock. And Aerosmith and AC/DC seem to be rock as well; I think there should be a seperate "rock" category for the heavy bands that aren't metal.

The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, U2.
Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Genesis (with Peter Gabriel).
Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream.
Beethoven, Shostakovich.
And two or three (hundred) more.

Metal, all other music is too soft and slow.
