Here a unit ( animal ) I skinned for Ethnic Mix Mod : a jaguar :)

I added it as a company animal for Meso settler, Meso scout and Meso explorer.

Hope you'll adopt it !

Moderator !!! Help ! I posted in the wrong forum ! Can you move it ? Wanted to post in the Units Graphic one ... My apologizes ...

Nice skin :goodjob:
(but as animal for a settler it really doesn't make any sense ;)).

Oh !

Like the dogs who have been domesticated before settling process.

Jaguar instead of dogs ... a bit fantasy I know, but nonsense ... well ... I won't go so far ;)

let's say they are domesticated felines !

Thank you if you found it great ( the jaguar, not the idea ) ;)

There are no Felines domesticated in existence of humanity.

For example, Dogs are domesticated. Cat's and Elephants are tamed. There is a big difference.

tamed ... my dictionary ... Didn't know the word ... thank you :)

You are right. It's not the same and I use a bad english to write.

So let's say they are tamed felines ;)

Gosh ! I didn't imagine a quite basic fantasy could offense some people ! My apologizes !

1 a : a carnivorous mammal (Felis catus) long domesticated as a pet and for catching rats and mice b : any of a family (Felidae) of carnivorous usually solitary and nocturnal mammals (as the domestic cat, lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, cougar, wildcat, lynx, and cheetah)

I agree with Mechaerik.

the characteristics of a species don't involve its capacity of beeing tamed and or domesticated.

And yes : elephants can behave like horses ! They are just ... a bit slower

I got only one cat in my life but believe me TheLastOne36 and Dom Pedro II : he behaved as a dog !
And I even didn't make anything for this.

Life sometimes ... ;)

I prefer the view that dogs domesticated humans and cats have never forgiven them for doing it first. I also have had a cat that behaved in the same way as a dog, coming when called etc.

Such a view

There is a joke related to. Trying to translate it as fine as I can.

God created universe, stars, planets, etc ... When he finished, he found this was quite ... empty. So he made earth and he filled with animals. He admired his work ans was satisfied. Then he saw his favourite creature : the dog and talk to him. The dog said he was boring.

God became anxious. His will was to see all his creatures happy. So, he thought and thought again until getting an idea. He worked hard and create a human.

After a while, a time of observation, he found the human very unperfect, so unperfect he wanted to wipe him from earth. But the dog was so happy now ...

:D

Whatever it you think, it will not change my view of them. For example, domesticated animals, like Dogs, or Horses, or Cows, Sheep whatever, will know when they do something wrong. (If a Human counteracted by hitting them or something) A cat will never know what they did is wrong, and will just do it again thinking it is a game.

Also, Domesticated animals are ONLY and ONLY animals that are social. Only social(herding animals in particular) animals(as a species) have the ability to behave and respond to human commands. Cat's of all species are not very social when in a group larger than their x. (x being the number of species that travel around in a sort of Cat pack. It differs iirc between species) Not to mention the independency the cat tends to have.

I'm talking about a species in general of tamed specimens. So individual cat's you might have owned do not count. My cat is certainly not domesticated, but it is tamed and is a housecat, despite being 4 times the size of regular housecats (It's descendant from a local wild mountain cat), and continuing to pee inside my house.

But of coarse these are not the only reasons, the aggressiveness of the animal and 100's of other factors are also involved in choosing a good specimen. These are the reasons why other species failed to domesticate, such as Zebra's and Elephants. Although of coarse there are tamed ones out there.

I don't care what the dictionary says, it could've been overlooked. Also, it depends on how broad of a definition you use.

Regardless, this is offtopic. If you want to continue, than we move to OT.

Ok now ... I think I'm quite a kind person BUT that's my topic and that's enough.

1) Elephants are domesticated ( and not tamed ) in India for a long long time. They serve humans in many tasks. So they are domesticated as horses. And horses are wild too before becoming domesticated.

2) I made only an animal unit. Maybe it is not historically accurate but I never pretend such. If I well remember some of my readings around, AlazkanAssassin made a Giraffe Archer and a Giraffe ( both great units ) and you didn't dare coming in his topic and begin to give some lessons. Must I presume I don't deserve the same respect than AlazkanAssassin ?

3) Maybe you dislike my idea of a jaguar. I don't know. I don't care. I just posted an animal. If the subject is too sensible to some of us, I feel sorry but what ?

4) My english language is not as perfect as I would like but I already apologize for the word "tamed" I didn't know. So this jaguar is a potentially tamed one or a potentially domesticated, or maybe he follows the explorer ready to eat him. That's it, and that's all. Gosh !!!

5) We all have been a bit out of subject ! We spoke about our cats and dogs and so on. It's not very important. It was just funny. A bit of fun won't hurt anybody !

6) As it is my first unit On CivFanatics, I would have enjoyed some comments on the work, even we all know it wasn't a difficult one. So, thanks to Androrc the Orc and The_J who made decent comments.

7) the idea was just to add a bit of ethnic flavour via animals. I made the same with a tiger for indian units and AlazkanAssassin's giraffe for african units. No less, no more. When I play CIV4 and have the ability to create warelephants even if I play Vikings, I don't complain about un-historical fact even I would prefer something else.

8) As far we know, we don't know so much about ancient times. So, let's open the doors of our mind and imagination. IT IS A GAME !

9) To finish, I don't really care about the off topic. I'm just angry to see a very simple unit topic becoming a kind of cat fight club. Because nobody has the obligation to take this unit. And I don't think I deserve some english lessons here or elsewhere.

So, TheLastOne36, don't complain about fire when you bring the oil. If the idea of a tamed jaguar is too sensible for you, there are plenty other topics where to go and give some lessons.

Thank you gentlemen. :coffee:

Well said. Fact of the matter is this; if you don't like the unit don't download it.

Good work CJ.

I agree, bravo

4) My english language is not as perfect as I would like but I already apologize for the word "tamed" I didn't know. So this jaguar is a potentially tamed one or a potentially domesticated, or maybe he follows the explorer ready to eat him. That's it, and that's all. Gosh !!!

Might we see this Tiger you did so that he may stalk our Indian explorers as well? :D

Looks nice, coffee junkee. Aren't having some buddhist munchs tigers domesticated? Well, not a jaguar, but at least a cat. Anyways, is there a chance you make me a Mangalica: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangalitsa (check hungarian and german version of that page for more pcitures - "Deutsch" / "Magyar")?

BTW: Units have their own section on the forum. This might have fit better there... Maybe an option for your next unit.

Don't like it? I love it! I already installed it in my game! :D And I am making a Zapotec civilization if you were not aware, this unit will be included in that civilization. ;)

If I wanted 100% real stuff and no fake imagination or whatever I would be playing Europa Universalis III, and I do alot, probably more so than CIV. But I still love playing CIV and Age of Mythology so it's not like i'm a hater or anything. :crazyeye:

I was just merely responding to Mecharic. And I can gaurantee you Elephants are not domesticated. ;)

But I can leave this thread if you want. Your unit, your thread, your rules.
