Tell us, what is the menu like? Post a screenie if you can.

If this question may be answered, I will torture my mind with one less thing forthwith!

Yup complete owners - I am all of a shake... Come out, come out, wherever you are... (off topic: sounds like Lestat in "Queen of the Damned"). :scan:

Hi!

@Oddible : Because i had to blow up a fogger-bomb in my apartment (my cat got flees , so i gassed them). But unfortunately , i forgot to put my C3C - CD into a CD-Case , so it got gassed too and the plastic from the CD reacted very aggressive with the poison-gas from the bomb (but also all bugs were dead hehehe). First i was like  , but then i heard of Civ3 complete , so i decided not to buy C3C new , but to wait for C3complete....

Have Fun !

Here's the in-game menu. I'm assuming this is what you're referring to and not the windows start menu entries. If not, let me know.

As for the game itself, I can't comment on the differences between vanilla+conquests and complete (since I've never had conquests. The game comes on 3 CD's. It also includes a manual, but that's it. None of the little goodies that often accompany final releases like autographs from the designers/maps/action figures/etc. ;) The file structure appears to be the same as what I've seen described in the forums. Vanilla Civ 3 files in the top level 'Civilization III Complete' folder, with PTW and Conquests files in subfolders off of that one.

The only single player game icon/shortcut installed is (mis)labeled 'Civilization III Complete Edition (it takes you into conquests.) I haven't found any in-game way to select another version to play. I just had to make my own shortcuts for the Civ3 and PTW executables. All 3 versions appear install with the latest patch version out of the box. I say appear because I screwed around with my vanilla files and managed to crash it, so I can't verify it atm. PTW and Conquests are definitely patched.

@Grogs nice description! Thanks for the screen too.

So to install the whole package takes putting all 3 disks in the drive?
Hmm, new music? Anything new in the mods section, Civ-Content?

Play Last World will load the map of your last played civ game, and you'll start somewhere on it. It's good if you want to see if a different strategy would work, although you know the layout of the map, so it's not something I use.

@Mr.Do - good question. Is the intro the same as C3C which is a montage of 3 different soldiers from 3 different ages preparing for war (Roman, ...don't recall..., WWII) then the 3 in battle sequences with the ending being the WWII dude with a flamethrower...

@JG99_Korab - I seriously hope that you are not talking about stealing civ software because that is the quickest way to get yourself booted from the forums - piracy talk has no place here.

@Mr. Do: The Complete intro shows scenes of leigonnaries in formation, a couple of medieval infantrymen fighting and a civil war battle interspersed with cutscenes of the big Tower of Babel thing from the original Civ III cutscene.

@Oddible: You run through all three disks during the install. Disk 1 is the play disk for all versions. I usually don't pay much attention to the music, so I can't comment on that. Not having played conquests before I can't say what's new or not. I can say there are ~100 entries in the Civ Content menu. There are 12 in the 'Conquests!' menu, 1-9 and 3 tutorials. You can compare those to what you've got in Conquests.

no. I will own it but my cd-rom drive tends to scratch cds and I like to keep my discs nice.

dear moderator,

I was not intending piracy, my cd-rom drive tends to scratch cds and I like to keep my discs nice. seriously

That happens. However, as no-cd cracks promote piracy, and as piracy is a major :nono: here, we cannot allow discussions about it.

well, do any of you gguys have an idea as to how to keep the cd nice and playable

Be very careful with it. ;)

Sorry, don't mean to be a smart ass, but there it is. Personally, my C3C disc doesn't leave the CDROM drive. I had to buy Civ3 again because of a defective disc, and consequently I'm very careful with my discs now.

Technically, your license allows you one backup copy of the game. But since there's copy protection on the disc, it's not always easy to duplicate. I don't know of anyone who's been able to do it.

No, it doesn't work, at least with the PTW disc. I tried using my backup copy since my other one shattered to pieces inside the CD-ROM drive(meaning both No Drive and No PTW) and it kept telling me to put in the CD. (So I've been playing vanilla for the last 2 1/2 months.)
