Steam updated itself this morning.

I normally play with a couple of Mods- Infoaddict and a few others.

They have been wiped.

I have gone back through Steam and they are coming up as subscribed.

I have unsubscribed and resubscribed yet when I go to start the game tells me no Mods installed. (DLC mods seem unaffected).

I can live without them, or manually instal them I guess, but it is a pain in the neck.

yeah, this has been happening to me for a while already. I can't seem to ever manage to install the R.E.D. modpack, no matter how many different ways i try to do it. Other mods work fine.

BlouBlou had these hints in one of his/ her mod packs:

If you have a problem with a mod, the first step is always to test the mod alone before reporting any bugs.
All mods from all my collections are compatible together.
If you have troubles downloading the mod in game, it's a common cache issue, follow these steps to fix it:
1) Unsubscribe The mod, exit steam and civ 5 completly
2) empty your mod folder : C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
3) Delete the "Civ5ModsDatabase.db" file located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
4) Restart steam, subscribe, restart civ 5.

Trouble is, it didn't work :(

Weird. I only use two mods (one of which is InfoAddict) and they seem unaffected by the recent Steam update. Maybe the problem is specific to a region?

I've only been playing with InfoAddict and it was still in my game after the patch. But now when I double click on the Civ V desktop icon, it brings up my steam page instead of starting the game.

It's an annoying bug alright. The API programmer that Firaxis hired to work on the Steam backend was getting confused and stressed when they wrote that code. Have no idea how it passed QA.

For me the mods are only ever deleted when Steam goes off-line while the game is running. So if steam updates, and goes off-line during the update it might happen then I'm not sure. Most serious is if you are on a wireless connection and the link drops as happens on wireless.

Always keep a backup of your mods folder and if possible, keep steam off-line when playing civ. Let Firaxis know by sending them a fault ticket.

Cheers

I just had this happen to me as well. Infuriating situation. I am in the middle of my heavily modded uber-marathon game. It was just heating up too. Really need this to get working again or I'm about to make somebody at 2k customer support cry.
