If an elite Berserk attacks a unit on the shore, wins and cannot go ashore because there are more units on the same square - what happenes?

If there is room on the Galley the leader appears in the square the Berserk came from - no problem. Had that, worked perfectly.

But what if the Galley is full???????

Anyone had that yet?

I cannot answer with any certainty, but I seem to recall reading in some thread that someone got a leader from a marine, but did not load it into the transport. When the transport left, the leader remained until the transport returned to collect him. Perhaps it would work that way in this case?

maybe great leaders can swim? after all, they are supposed to be the best, thats why they are great... :)

I have seen 'floating' bombers. I used 'j' to send them to a carrier and there was only room for three but I sent 4.

then, the carrier moved (same turn) and from then on i had a floating bomber. If anyone wnats I can post screenshots.

The "floating marine" story may have been from me, for I posted long ago about an experience I had with an "amphibious leader." After heavy bombardment (with defenders redlined) I woke some elite marines from a transport and commenced the assault. My first attack generated a leader. Without really thinking about it, I gave a little cheer for my good luck and fortified the leader (just assuming he was in the transport). The amphibious assualt was completed without casualties, and I moved the transport (and several others) into my new port city. Only one the next turn (or perhaps the turn after) did I try to find my leader to rush an airport. He wasn't in port! (and there was certainly no image of him treading water just outside the city). I went to my military advisor screen, which clearly showed that I had an available leader, but he was nowhere to be seen. I finally figured out that I could right-click (or double click, can't remember which) the image of the leader in the "available leader" window of the F3 screen. Lo and behold, there appeared my leader, floating in the coast just outside my new port city. I couldn't move him into the city (or move him anywhere for that matter), but I was able to move a transport into the tile, and load the leader. He then made it safely to port. :)

this great leader was Jesus, he can walk on water:lol:

It happened to me too. I think in MP it would be a very good idea to have an empty galley along with the others. That way if one gets sunk you don't lose your Beserkers too, along with having room for a Leader. :)

If worst comes to worst, fortify one of the Beserkers and let the leader take the ride. At least the Beserker might have a chance to defend itself from opponent's galleys (not sure how combat like that would work).

:hmm: I wonder, would the GL automatically self-destruct, or would you need to disband a beserker, or would you just have 3 units on a 2-unit ship?

I would just keep 2 galleys around, or only 1 berserk to solve it.

in civ2, i remember that ships could be built on land, but couldn't you build land forces over water and pick them up later.

i am refering to editor mode.
