European Middle Ages 500-1500 AD

Yay, I have reworked the entire Promotion System, now with not confusing buttons, logical progression, and promotions for naval units! :band:

After some play testing to make sure there are no major problems, I'll release the new version. I won't have any time tonight or tomorrow, so it's most likely that it will come on Saturday or Sunday.

I decided to give the halberdier the city defense bonus because if pikes got it would make them even more powerful against city-attacking heavy cavalry and halberdiers need it to give them some power in the late game.

And Handgunners are included, I just forgot to write them in.

Same as any other mod, you take the Medieval Europe folder and extract it too Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Mods. You then take the European Map WorldbuilderSave and extract that to Publicmaps. Then start the game, go to advanced, load a mod. Then you go to play a scenario after the mod loads, and you pick the Medieval Europe map, and you then pick the civ you want to play, and the rest is up to you.

EDIT: Great work getting the promotions done Head Serf. Are you going to at least add UU's for a better realistic feel without changing any abilities? I could do some research. Main Byzantine Units were Proinoi Allagion, Kataphraktoi, Tagmata (to al lesser extent), and the Dromons were the main ships of the Byzantine navy, they were heavier and faster than most other ships of the period. The other ships of the period being galley type ships. And as I said before, Armenian UU's would be the Nakharar (Vassal) and the Aspet (Knight).

This is my idea for naval techs and units... click on the image file below, and zoom to read it. I needed to do the image for the chart... wouldn't come out properly as text.

Craig, thank you so much. :goodjob:  :) :worship:  :hatsoff:

I'll implement your naval system this weekend, it looks fantastic, thanks for doing the research and writing it out!

To Drtad about the UUs, I would like to do the UUs, however, if I did add them I wouldn't be able to get the new version out for 2 more weeks because I will be gone most of next week. I was thinking that I would get the new version ready and release it on Sunday or Saturday, and then people can playtest it and such while I'm gone. It'll be very easy to add in the UUs for the following version. One problem about the UUs is the lack of unit art for most of them. Once we compile a list, I'll make a request in the unit creation thread. Hopefully one of the artists will be able to help us out.

And thanks to both of you for being so helpful with getting the new version put together. I wonder if hr_oskar will ever come back?

wait how do you "extract to" Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Mods? please explain more I'm not good at all those stuff

ps :do you live in Glendale??

It depends on which decompression software you use... if you have winrar or winzip, you should be able to left click on the file to get a context menu, and will see an unzip option. When you click on that option, there is usually a prompt, or screen that asks which directories you want the files to be extracted to. To the right of the file path name is usually a "browse" button. Use that to find the place where you want the file unzipped to, and execute.

Its a little difficult to explain clearly, but hopefully you can figure it out.

If you don't have an unzip program, I recommend 7-zip at:

http://www.7-zip.org

Hope this helps.

Craig answered your first question before I could, but I'll answer the second one, no. I live in San Francisco, but Glendale definitely has the best places for Armenian food.;)

The UU's don't have to be in the next version, just something to plan for the future, maybe Craig can make a chart for that too.;)

Woops I dont got this at all. Lets recap, once I download the files I extract it to "Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Mods" Then what?? I did that and the mod still wasnt in the "load a mod" options

Its cool that you're half Armenian Mereik. About all the leader's looking the same, until hr_oskar could find all the pictures he just used all the same animated leaderheads, but hopefully, if you go to the European Middle Ages mod Resurrection thread just below, then in a future version Head Serf will add the leaderheads. and to play on the map, you have to go open the Medieval Europe folder and find the WorldBuilderSave file. You then copy the Worldbuilder save file inbto your publicmaps folder under Sid Meier's Civ4 and your good to go with the map.

Hum..sory to cause you so much trouble but where is the thread about the resurection? Oh and I found the map but where do you find your public map folder??ty
:)

Oh!and i just noticed that in the mod Rome is the muslim holy city, byzantium is the confusist holy city and Damascus is the buddhist holly city.Whats up with that???

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=193277 Here is the thread, for the publicmaps folder, go to:
Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Publicmaps
You put the map inside that publicmaps folder. Then you start up Civ 4, go to Advanced, and then Load a Mod. After the mod is loaded, go to choose a scenario, pick the Medieval Europe map, and you're good to go. And download the New Version 0.4 on the Resurrection thread, bacause here in 0.3 the religion symbols are messed up. And I reccomend that you download the new version also because Head Serf added Armenia to the main scenario.

Highlight the mod folder by clicking on it once. Then press delete.:)
