Prehisotric Mod - Requests pictures\photos

This Mod is declared Abandon, yet it's creator has plans to reinstate it a at later date.

Well recently I have started a Stone age mod. Yes you heard right, a Stone Age mod. While im not to sure on the Era names, It will go something like this;

Paleolithic
Mesolithic
Neolithic (or Copper Age)
Bronze Age

So It pretty much starts with the Last Ice Age, and ends with the Dark ages of Greece. Or slightly before. From 10.000 b.c. To 1.000 b.c.

A small ‘timeline’ of the periods, So you will understand better.

Paleothic- most people were nomadic, following the herds of animals, as the animals followed the "retreating Ice sheets". Any tools that were invented here were minor.

Mesolithic- Many big turning points, Permanent houses started appearing. And So did boats, Clothes became more permanent, boots started appearing to. Not to mention handles on Flint tools.

Neolithic- Pottery started appearing in N. Europe, metal working (such as gold) did to. Farming started catching on also. trading networks, The social scale developed, and there was Inter-Clan or Tribe, trading and relationships. Further more, Cities started to develop in Mesopotamia, such as Jericho (developed a well known Stone Tower before pottery was used, The Lower thirty Feet were standing when excavated-1950's) and Catal Höyük. Also the Chalcolithic (copper - Stone age) is part of this period. Copper itself is a powerful ore, If Hammered it can become almost as hard as a weak steel. However, if hammered to much, it will crack, as it becomes brittle. Silver also appears.

Bronze Age- Many people are familiar with this one, so I'll make this part brief, To put you in the setting, I'll mention that the Assyrian Empire was around the time of 2.500b.c. and ended in 645b.c. The dark Ages of Greece, began in 1.100b.c. Now, its true Cast Iron was being used by the Chinese in 800b.c. So wether I include some early Iron Units, in the Stone Age Mod, remains to be seen. But most likely not.

What I need; Stone Age Photos and Pictures, If you have some, You can post a link to the web page, or post them on this thread. It would be greatly appreciated. Also If you can think of any names, I know, It doesnt sound hard,but it is. Im currently stuck on the Stone age equavilent to the marketplace And I cant imagine the what to do for the bank. I have a good idea on wonders, It will just take some time to find them. The pictures or photo's would be used for wonder Splash Screens, or mabye even the wonders themselves.(depending on there size)

Do you want a world map of the world say like at the last ice age course I can make one if you want. Also what is the different civs and are you replacing all the old Improments/wonders or just some of them?

Thanks but I wouldn’t want to put such a big task on you, at so early a state. I know the mod will be completed. But It will be later rather than sooner.
This post\thread was just a notice, to let people know I started one, and to get people who know of good stone age picture website’s, or names I could use. I do have the plan of bringing up some maps, but most likely not a real map, something that puts the player in the last Ice age.
Many good questions;
Civs: Well, I plan on having many. The actual list wont be complete for a while, (and the cities will be even harder) So I cant give you a definite answer. All the improvements will be there, only under different names. Some improvements will be modified, but all will have an equivalent. For instance, the chariot, was once called "The air force of the ancient times" So it would be safe to say that a nuclear power plant has a stone age equivalent, something like a Grist Mill? Or even a Wind mill.

Sounds like a great idea!!! You must have a clubman! How about a slingshot man? You could have a stone henge. I'm not an expert in the stone age so I can't give as much as I would want to.

yes, yes, I'll try and get some new units. Im working on a guy who chuck's rock, (The Idea, and only the idea, taken from Empire Earth) Perhaps he would upgrade to the sling shot man? Yes there will be Stonehenge. The only thing that bothers me, is all th photos, will be of ruins. It would be a little strange, having Stonehenge look like ruins, after you just built it! But for now, it will have to suffice. . .

Might be hard to find pictures from the stone age. I don't think the polaroid came about for a couple thousand years.

Funny, aren’t you. I mean pictures of ruins, concept art, paintings, and maybe even some pictures of cave paintings. But that’s alright, as it seems few are interested (by few I mean 1) So it doesn’t matter. Maybe I'll post it at Apolyton.

Hmmh, so you could use models like this or pictures like this . Or you could use only parts of the pictures. Parts wich don't look like ruins.

Now That’s what Im talking about! unfortunately. Stonehenge is a more well known one(easier to find stuff on). And pesoloco made some models of it. However, I think i'll make a new one, just to say its all original. Thanks for the links, it will be very helpful. And yes, I understand Im not giving very good directions (it seemed you implied it, rather than said it). As this is still a 'fresh' project. If someone said, "alright everyone, go get me some Stone Age pictures" I’d call him a lunatic. I will provide some lists, wonders, improvements, technology, etc(.). Then it will be easier, As you’ll have a clear idea what to look for. Recently, I have been searching the web for improvements. To counter the ones built. It’s a b**** to find the equivalent to the bank. But I think I have it down. As I said, I will post the Names up soon, but you will have to get over how . . . er . . . bathetic they sound I will take any name changes available. I would post links to all the web sites I know of. But I would be here all day doing that, and filling up 5 pages while doing it. But I might post the big ones.

Well, I see. I did not notice, that you are looking also for graphics for the City Aerial View. That will be much harder than only surching for some new wonder splash pictures. Isn't it? Hmmh... here are some inspirations (I hope):

Those pictures are useful , much thanks Arne. Yes I will be making some Resources. I plan on scaling the image, or picture, down. Since im doing the Resources, I think I will include some new terrain pcx. for Fortresses. For the city view, I will see what I can throw together. For the record, I will do the aerial city views. as of now, most of the pictures I have will be used as wonder splash screens. Right now im trying to find some Stone age achievements, suitable for wonders. I'll post that up soon(seriously this time).

Nice.I like the representation of the Glaciers, with mountains. Here is a site I found; Ice Age Civilization

I cant express my gratitude enough, for taking this project on The one thing I would like to mention, is, that somehow, we would have to get the AI, as well as the player, to want to follow the Glacier. . . Some type of resource perhaps? Also, im thinking global warming, could be used to great effect here

Question: I clickt on the lonk in your signature that said "the man who sold the world" and it took me to this tread. Why dos it do that, shouldnt it take me too some archimedes thing?

Alright, I just downloaded, I will reply on the Ice age thread. Also, what do you think I should use for leader heads? I do not have the skill to make such a close up animation flc. Plus I would need a model. so im thinking static flc's, or use only the ancient animations, for the European civs. personally, I don’t like this idea. Perhaps for the last age, I might use them, as all are to modern. What do you think?

The second link, if correct, would take you to a bands (I like) home page. But I wanted to put the "prehistoric mod" in there, but I didn’t want to change it too much. So my solution was to make 'the man who sold the world' a link, and take you here, to promote this mod.
