I downloaded it and unzipped the files to my Civ2 directory. But when I try to run Civ2 the message box below appears. This followed by a close/details box. The details are:

If anyone has had this problem and can help me I would be very greatfull.

I'm not sure how to fix this problem but I get the same message when I try something in a menu that I added by editing game.txt.
My only advice is to make sure you have all the patch files copied to the right place.

Try editing your civ.ini found in the Windows folder and make sure it has the correct path listed for your cd-rom.

I some how managed to fix the problem myself!

I reinstall all the files into mps\civ2 instead of mps\civmge and this seemed to work. Guess I'm just a genius.

The patch is brilliant by the way Cedric. Thanks!

That doesn't have anything to do with it... The file indicated in the error is a C++ source file, which must've been part of the code used to compile SMEDSNET.DLL. That file doesn't exist anywhere on your PC or the CD-ROM, but it gives an indication to what part of the SMEDSNET.DLL was giving problems... But that's all I know about that, all the other jibberish means as much to you as it does to me (i.e. nothing).
I'm guessing you had a conflict with the a non-MGE Civ2 file and its MGE counterpart, which you solved by putting them in separate directories.
