There's been no definite word on this, as far as I'm aware. It would be an odd thing to remove though, given it worked well with Civ V.
The only thing I've been able to dig up was this quote from Dennish Shirk in an article months ago:
Shirk also notes something else: Touch-screen monitors, which were a bit of a novelty when Civilization V was released but have since become standard issue for many laptops and home desktop computers, change the way many players experience the game. Touch screens offer "a natural fit" for 2K, he added.
The quote leads me to believe that civ6 will definitely be compatible with touch screens. But I am thinking that it will be one of the last things that the devs code in. After all, getting the gameplay right is the most important.
I love the fact that Civ 5 specifically integrated touchscreen commands. I love playing Civ 5 on the Surface Pro or more recently, the Surface Book. I think a combination of touch and keyboard is a great way to play Civ, and just wish my main gaming rig could accommodate!
Any word on whether Civ 6 will have touchscreen controls integrated at launch? While packing around an extra mouse isn't too much of an annoyance (I use thumb trackball mice, they don't require much space) I would definitely prefer to play using touchscreen commands whenever I'm mobile and only have the Surface Book.
