THE GREAT EASTERN WAR CONTINUES Beijing, Russian Federation
The Northern War, as Chinese strategists have declared it, is the front stretching the Russian border, form Sinkiang to Beijing. It is here that the greatest threat to China is, and it is here the Chinese focus the least amount of troops. In Sinkiang Province, though, the Chinese have risen a new army, the 1st Armored, to drive back the Russian 74th Motor Rifle Brigade. The flat surface gives an insurmountable advantage to the mechanized Russian force, easily driving back the Chinese, and losing only a mechanized division to China’s armored and infantry divisions. The Russians overran defenses at the city of Urumqi, and have pushed further into Tibet.

The Russians also make gains in Mongolia, pushing back the Chinese 1st Division and taking only minor losses of one armored division to the Chinese gunship and 2 infantry losses. The 58th Army is simply better equipped and better trained then its Chinese counterpart, and pushes deep into Inner Mongolia, inching in on Beijing. Speaking of Beijing, fighting in the outskirts between the remaining paratrooper division of the 76th Red Banner Division has distracted the Chinese Rapid Reaction Force, but reinforcements soon arrived and the Russian paratroopers were crushed.

As the hard fighting continues in Tibet, Mongolia and Beijing, the Chinese have utterly neglected to defend against the 2nd Guards Taman Motor Rifle Division, one of the most powerful divisions in the Russian army. Invading through Manchuria, these Russians have face little resistance, and come the end of the month have pushed into and captured Qinhuangdao, the closes major city to Beijing. Panicking, the Chinese government vacates Beijing, and just in time before the 1st Division faces a huge offensive from the 58th Army, forcing it to abandon Beijing and Tianjin. With the Chinese political heart under Russian occupation, confidence in the government drops considerably.

On the southern front, the Chinese do not fair any better. Unfortunately for the Chinese, they are faced with larger and better equipped and organized forces. In the jungles that straddle the border between Burma and India, the 1st Motorized Division makes a mad dash for the Indian air force based at Calcutta. On the way the jungles and hostile terrain slow down the advance, and by the time they reach Calcutta the Indian 1st Army has arrived on the scene from the west. Tired, demoralized, and outnumbered the 1st Motorized is chased out of Calcutta, and with intense air support, the Indian 1st Army pushed the Chinese all the way out of Burma and into mainland China. This has seriously hurt the 1st Motorized, losing nearly half its strength including 2 infantry and 1 mechanized division. The Indians lose 2 infantry and an artillery battery in the process.

The Chinese 2nd Mechanized Division, perhaps the strongest army in China, is also faced with failure this month. In an attempt to flank the 3rd Army, the Chinese withdraw from Burma in order to invade from the west. Unfortunately during this time the Indian 2nd Army is relocated back to the north, blocking any attempt by the Chinese to re-enter Burma. This marks the last of the Chinese forces to leave Burma. The Indians, with a new found momentum and control of the sky (incredible amounts of Indian fighters were able to shoot down the 2 Chinese squadrons) pursue the 2nd Mechanized into China, aiming for the city of Kunming. Through heavy losses the 2nd Mechanized has been able to hold onto the city, though fierce fighting in the suburbs have produced 2 infantry, 2 mechanized infantry, and a gunship squadron as casualties for China, while India loses 3 mechanized infantry, an armored division and an infantry division.

As if two fronts weren’t enough, China faces two new threats, from Oceania and from the Empire of Japan. Wanting to get their fair share of the spoils, the Japanese have launched an invasion of the Chinese mainland, near Shanghai. The metropolis, along with the surrounding cities, fall quickly to the Japanese forces as the Chinese militia here were caught off guard and are faced with heavy air bombardment from the Japanese fleet. Speaking of the navy, the Japanese fleet also has taken on the Chinese Eastern Sea Fleet, which sailed from the Yellow Sea to meet the Japanese fleet. Though both powerful fleets, the Japanese have one of the more powerful fleets on the planet, sporting eight destroyers and four Supercarriers. The Battle of Shanghai is costly for both sides, what with the sinking of a Japanese supercarrier and 2 destroyers, while a Chinese AEGIS ship is taken out along with both of its carriers and a destroyer. This will go down in history as one of the most costliest naval battles. The Japanese may have though themselves in the clear, being the “victor” of this naval battle, but then they are met with, near the end of the month, the Chinese southern fleet, which adds to the eastern fleet another carrier and 5 destroyers. The 2nd Battle of Shanghai, where both Chinese fleets engaged the Japanese, ended disastrously for the pride and glory of the Japanese empire. With their AEGIS ship taken out early on, the Japanese fought essentially blindfolded, and in the end all but one of its Supercarriers lay at the bottom of the ocean. The Chinese were not without casualties, though, as its last carrier is sunk with four destroyers and another AEGIS. Though it looks like the Japanese will remain superior on the waves, the Chinese have definitely marked the end of un-questioned Japanese naval power.

The Chinese Southern Fleet brought more then just ships. Landing before the 2nd Battle of Shanghai took place, the 2nd Division is met with Japanese-occupied China. Here a new battle takes place, one between the National Army and the famed 31st Motorized Brigade against the tired, demoralized and ill-equipped Chinese coming back from Burma. The fighting didn’t take long, the Chinese being forced to withdraw south after taking 2 infantry casualties to the Japanese one.

The last front for the Chinese is actually in the only other territory China occupies, and that is Taiwan. Following its rules for Pacific island occupation, Oceania has deployed a powerful fleet to the East China Sea, securing for it influence on the island with massive amounts of bombardment and air support. The 47 Mech Division followed up with an invasion, taking Taipei rather quickly as there is little militia forces here to defend Chinese interests. The Taiwanese people are not happy with a war being fought on their island, but they are keener to membership within the Pacific Union with Oceania, a democratic and capitalist nation. By the end of the month, the entire island falls to Oceania. Force L, the Oceanian fleet, is careful not to engage the Chinese and Japanese fleets who battle it out further north.

HEADLINES

FUSEAS PROCLAIMED IN MANILA, FILIPINO CONGRESS HELD HOSTAGE Manila, FUSEAS
With the withdrawal of Vietnamese forces from Manila, the city quickly fell into chaos as Filipino army units were stalled in moving from the south. Just in time, though, Indonesian paratrooper units landed in the city, taking over the responsibility for keeping peace and order, presumably until the Filipino units can make their way from Mindanao. It seems, instead, that the Indonesians had something else in mind. Locking the Congressional leaders of the Philippines in their quarters, the Indonesian president landed at Madrid International Airport, where he proclaimed the formation of the Federal Union of South East Asian States, or FUSEAS. This union would have at its nuclear Indonesia, but also form a pan-national legislature that would include representatives from all other states within the union, including the Philippines. Resistant to the idea of joining this union, the Filipino Congress remained adamant in their opposition. That is, until a bomb went off in the Congressional chambers, killing all but a handful of legislators. FUSEAS officials blamed anti-Vietnamese dissidents who were angry at those members of Congress who had worked with the Vietnamese during the invasion. No hard evidence has been presented to warrant this claim. Meanwhile most of the country, now leaderless, falls into the hands of the FUSEAS, while a few army units, loyal to the remaining members of Congress, continue to fight in the southern city of Davao.

Meanwhile, in Laos a similar process has taken place. Due to the results of the national vote, FUSEAS forces expected Vietnamese forces to withdraw within the month. Sukarno army moved in via Thailand to subjugate the capital and the leaders of Laos, the same way they did in Manila. Vietnamese forces, afraid of beginning conflict with the newly created and powerful FUSEAS, refuses to dispute this “invasion” and instead remains on the defensive at the very strategic city of Ban Nape.

As FUSEAS engages in these reckless acts, her reputation abroad has taken a severe hit. Thailand and Cambodia have both withdrawn from both the SEAS and their alliance with Indonesia. As a result, the SEAS agreement has collapsed, seriously damaging FUSEAS’s ability to conduct large scale diplomacy. And, ironically enough, most south east Asians are beginning to favor Vietnamese leadership of the region, even Laotians and Filipinos are coming to their side.

NIGERIA CONQUERS COTE D’IVOIRE, LOOKS AT LIBERIAYamoussoukro, Nigeria
Nigerian forces were finally victorious with the capture of the capital Yamoussoukro, more or less breaking the back of the Cote d’Ivoire’s army’s back. The remaining units were left scattered across the barren country, making it easy for the Nigerian National army to mop up the remainder. Now, with more time on their hands, the Nigerians begin the invasion of Liberia. Prepared Liberian forces inflicted some casualties, taking out a mechanized infantry division, but were ultimately forced to withdraw to the capital, Monrovia.

BRAZIL COMES TO AN END, EULA FORCES CONQUER THE AMAZON Brasilia, EULA
With the destruction of Brazil’s last army, the country falls into the hands of the EULA. Resistance to the EULA in the Amazon has more or less died out as the last hope of Brazilian independence fades and new treaties with the native Amazonians are signed. The last of the Brazilian air force is surrendered, as it has no fuel to resist. As for the rather large Brazilian fleet, the EULA government has issued warnings to the sailors that if they do not surrender their ships, then their family members will be imprisoned and even some executed. Despite the warnings, one destroyer and one nuclear submarine was scuttled by its captains, but the remainder were transferred to the EULA government.

2ND BATTLE OF THE CARIBBEAN, AND BATTLE OF SAN FRANCISCO AS MEXICANS ADVANCE INTO USSA San Diego, Mexican Empire

Possibly the most important theaters of this war is not in California or New Mexico, but in the Caribbean Sea. Here the navies of the USSA and Mexico have been fighting it out since the beginning of the war, the Mexicans eager to block the main USSA army force from returning to the continent from Cuba. As the Mexicans roll out their own supercarrier, the American begin to wonder if they can actually defeat the Mexican Flotilla. The battle began the 10th of July, when the Mexican fleet actively pursued the Atlantic fleet in the Straights of Florida. The Mexican supercarrier was the first to launch its attack planes, meeting in time the superior planes of the USSA fleet, which were quick to establish their dominance over the USSA fleet. American engineering far surpasses the Mexican equivalent due to prior research in advanced mechanics, allowing an American ship to be superior to an equivalent Mexican counterpart. Still, the Americans were not able to knock out the Mexican supercarrier, but were able to blind the Mexican fleet with the sinking of the AEGIS ship, as well as a Mexican destroyer. In contrast, the Mexicans were only able to damage the USSA destroyer, which was repaired after a stop in Havana.

Meanwhile, on the ground the Mexicans faired somewhat better. Splitting from California, the Mexican 2nd army marched across Arizona, capturing Phoenix, and even made it to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here militia forces were quickly evacuated northwards, to Salt Lake City, where the American militia forces have begun to organize and offer a resistance. In California, the 82.A Mexican division advanced northwards along the famous Californian coastline. Their main goal is the San Francisco Bay Area, the economic hub of northern California. Here, though, USSA has organized a quick resistance force under the name of the California Defense Guard. Seriously outnumbering the 82.A and with complete air superiority from the Pacific Fleet based just outside the Golden Gate bridge, the Americans decidedly had the advantage. The Mexicans were forced to advance up the mountainous San Francisco peninsula, after American forces disabled the Bay Bridge from Oakland, and the California Guard made the Mexicans fight for every inch. In Union City and places like Hayward, the Mexicans were stopped utterly in their tracks. SFO serves as a military base, aptly served by regular deliveries of supplies and troops by the Bay Area Rapid Transit system. All in all, the Mexicans have been stopped here at San Francisco, suffering casualties of 2 infantry, 1 gunship and 1 armored division, while the California Guard has suffered 5 infantry division casualties and a gunship squadron.

Really sorry for the week-late update. Midterms. Hopefully this next one wont be so late.

I will add units/rules for satellites and advanced nukes tomorrow.

Sparrow, Brazil has been defeated. Thank you for playing, especially for staying till the end. Truly commendable.

RULE UPDATE: For realistic sake, you can only build a ship from a country that is capable of doing so (that is, mostly all countries in the world except island countries (like Falklands or Micronesia).

It's funny how some people are incapable of seeing past the next turn.

Never surrender!

Viva la revolucion!

Wow, that's a very, interesting turn.

To the Indonesians:
From the Vietnamese:

Why have you attacked these nations? We agreed to withdraw on the agreement that these would be free countries, part of the SEAS. And had we any idea that you would start setting up puppet regimes, we would not have let you have Cambodia.
