Viking Beserker

Hi everyone! I made this Viking Beserker, which replaces the Swordsman. I'm new to posting so forgive me not having a picture, but I don't know how to take one. Please help! Anyways, my suggested stats are the same as the swordsman, but with Amphibious and +50% vs. Melee. Check him out!

It's easy to post a picture. Take a screenshot hit Print screen button or Alt+print screen for just that window. Then Paste it into a paint program and save it. Then goto a place like http://www.imageshack.us/ and upload it there. Next take the Forum view and copy it into your post. You'll get it after a try or two.

Also, I think I'd make him a replacement for macemen, but it's your call. Good unit to add in any case though.

Hey that's pretty good! Shame you couldn't get rid of the shoulder-thingies, I guess you'd need the SDK for that...

Well, Vikings did have swordsmen too, but maybe the 'berserker' should be made from the axeman instead? But not a bad skin for a Viking Swordsman.

There's nothing that says these oh-so-popular bersekers only used axes. I know for a fact they didn't. All these people were, were men who could more or less at will make themselves lose all inhibitions and fear through a cultivated anger. Of course, in a historical sense, their importance is minimal. The Viking UU should be the Longship, but this is getting off topic...

True, but the Vikings were known for their bearded axes...
Great skin anyway, it could be used for any Dark Ages swordsman.

I wanted to do an axe, but I also really wanted the shield, because that's a trademark of the vikings too. So, the swordsman was really the only candidate. Also, the axeman's axe is WAAAY too big. Viking axes were much smaller. I may be able to find a trick to make the sword look like an axe, but since Swords, axes, and pikes were the three main weapons of the Vikings, I'm safe with the sword.

I hate to pick nits -- actually, that's a lie, I love it -- but Viking axes came in all manner of sizes, from small battle axes to massive two-handed bearded axes. Also, as the Viking age dawned, the polularity of axes in Scandinavia was already dwindling, with the sword quickly becoming the weapon of choice. Swords were "cool", if you will, whereas axes were old fashioned. A warrior who used an axe probably did so because he couldn't afford a sword, and most likely had inherited the axe from his father. In Norway alone, some 4,000 Viking swords have been dug out of the ground. I don't have the equivalent number for axes, but I'd be willing to wager that it is smaller.

Also, it should be pointed out that the most used weapon by far was the spear.

The most complete and scientific analysis and proof comes from examing the evidence from the most famous Viking of all, Hagar the Horrible.

Swords win.

But you will need to add a small dog wearing a horned helmet.
