Imperium Offtopicum VI

We frown on your decision to go against a beloved ally of Great Japan, however we must remain neutral is this issue.

Don't blame me, blame the genius (Zeletdude), who decided to rally every democratic nation to ally against the fascists. Who had yet to do anything wrong.

The Union of Fascists is to prevent the imperialists ideology's of the so called democratic from taking over the world.

The Federation thanks Japan's kind words we love you too!

I wasn't being sarcastic. You saw the chance to make a super coalition and it worked out perfectly, everyone democratic nation did what democracy's do best. Jump on the band wagon. And as a result, you were able to achieve a strong alliance that holds the purpose of war of freedom against everyone not in it. And because 14/24 nations are in it, you don't have to worry about the consequences of your actions because your the world power.

Congradu****inlations, you have officially become the US of IOT VI.

May I ask why you didn't include New England in that?

New England doesn't have a SoI that needs protecting. They can protect us if they wish, however, but it wouldn't benefit them any.

A separate defensive alliance, which will be about defense of what we already own(rather than our SoIs), is also proposed to all North American powers.

The good news is, Japan's only use of transporting goods is planes. We just go round enemy air space and I don't have to worry about Canals.

As was said, vastly expensive (and OOC: highly unrealistic) not to mention airspace can get a bit... costly.

The USSR closes its airspace to all traffic from Japan until it admits it was wrong in shooting down the Siberian flight and furthermore, stops threatening war at the drop of a hat simply because country x establishes an outpost.

The Union of Fascists is to prevent the imperialists ideology's of the so called democratic from taking over the world.

Can you blame the world for being a bit afraid of a group that practices fascism, which historically involves imperialism?

Actually, ilDuce, you helped him immensely. Seriously, before you shot down that plane, we literally were just sending delegates and talking about whatever. We were hardly an alliance, and membership was small.

As soon as Japan shot down the Siberian plane, more members started to join but it still isn't an alliance. Most members don't have an obligation to one another.

So, it's Japan's and Denmark's overreaction to a simple Conference that caused all of this.

I resend my request to the Berlin Conference. I am a king, but I would be interested in turning into a democracy, however, the "good guys" of democracy have ignored my request to observe your conference. The Facist states have offered me an invitation to the Copenhagen conference, but I would like to stay on the side of democracy. If this message is ignored, I may have to re-consider my options.

After realizing how unrealistic this is. I have decided that it was ships.

I was not wrong to shoot down that plane, even Siberia admits that.

I am threatening war on nations that enter either my, or my allies SOI, its more of a passive-aggressive threat, then just an aggressive one.

Will you accept some President-made pastries as recompense?

What the hell is all this talk about "sides"?

What's scary is that most of it's on topic.
Not really.

anyway, I would like to appeal to join the democratic convention:
Most laws are set by the provincial government, to prevent the Executor from changing laws to benefit him to much. The regional governments are parliamentary monarchy's, they have way more power in their region of the country then the federal government, and the only influence the federal government has domestically is they decide the funding of each region. Each month, the Legislation meets up with the Premier and Lord of every region, were they decide how the funding is split.
posted this day one, an elected Premier hosts most power in domestic affairs. Is this democratic enough?

OOC-I will be active enough to post a claims map when I need to. Once my comp is fixed, I will be very active.

Update 1

AD 2102

(OOC: From now on, one turn count as one year)

238742.png

Caliphate cartoonists present the world's conflicts in a light-hearted way. The art of political cartoons is making a come-back in such places as the Caliphate and California.

The events of the past year (2101) produced mixed reactions. On the one hand, it was a year of rapid economic development and increasing standard of living worldwide. Though the world has all but fragmented into a patchwork of independent states once again (indeed, five new nations have declared their independence), there were promising signs of international cooperation, such as the trade agreeements which were signed by the Carthaginians, the Poles, the Central Europeans, the Caribbeaners, and the Spanish, among others. However, tension between the more belligerent members of the international community has once again taken the world to the brink of war.

Violation of human rights are widespread. In one of the most horrific stories, a thousand people were tortured and drowned in Denmark for crimes against the state, in a mass execution proudly reported by the Danish State Press. But it was just one of the hundreds of reported cases of human right abuses, not to mention the many more which occurred out of sight. Might makes right in this brave new world. Persecution of minorities is rampant. The oppression and expulsion of "Undesirables" in various countries have seen massive population transfers around the world. Refugees fled to countries like the USSR, Brazil and the Ottoman Empire, but there are many who could not escape, or did not make it to the safe havens.

It is said that in times of crisis people tend to turn to extremism. The present is certainly not the best of times, and many of the newly independent states have to institutionalized extremist ideologies. Many parts of the world are undergoing a religious revival, while in others (such as the Ottoman realms) the trend is towards increasingly aggressive secularization. The Danish fascist leader, taking a cue from 20th century dictators, opted to suppress all religions and impose a cult of personality surrounding himself in their place.

Most of all, it is the competing expansionist programs of diffferent states that is the main source of conflict in the past year. Despite the 21st Century horrors of the Cataclysm, many states are now exploring war as a mean to resolve these conflicts. Some states have demonstrated themselves to be aggressively territorial, often with tragic consequences, as with the shooting down of a Siberian civilian airliner by Great Japan.

The world is now divided into two camps: the anti-fascist camp, whose members are now meeting at the Democratic Convention in Berlin, and the Union of Fascists, with their headquarters in Copenhagen.

Territorial Disputes

wlqo6.png

All countries (except suspended players) please vote to award the territory to one of the conflicting parties. Please bold your votes in red.

GM Comment:

Request to all Players: please edit your country description posts and keep them up to date (I have links to them next to your country descriptions on the front page). Include your flag, census info, military info, any diplomatic agreements your nation has. It'd be easier for all of us to keep track of them that way.

It'd also be good to summarize your current diplomatic agreeements in your post in the Claims thread as well.

Link16: If you want to join please post your claims again and I'll add you in next update.

Comment on historical discussions: History up to 2010 is the same as OTL. But the world has changed so much that it has little relevance to the world situation in 2101. So please avoid history discussions. Likewise, the world situation in 2010 is not necessarily the same as the world situation in 2101. Population statistics from 2010 maybe used as a very rough guide, but it is not accurate for 2101 due to the enormous changes which took place in the 9 decades after 2010.

Please remember House Rule #2: "Stay on topic. Make sure all comments are relevant to the fictional world of the current IOT." Be careful when talking about RL history or 2010 statistics and the like because they are borderline or actually OT and I will start to hand out suspensions for the worst offenders.

If there are mistakes in this update, drop me a message and I'll look at it.

It is now Turn 2 (AD 2102)

Edit: Darth Caesar is suspended for this turn.

I demand concessions from Japan for (stupidly) trying to incest rebellion in New South Wales. This, not only an icredibilly stupid move (Hey guys, let's make fund rebellions in England so they would secede from the UK!), but is extremely rude and uncalled for. The entire population of 0 peoples that listened to Japanese propaganda have been arrested. Further stupid moves like that is a Declaration of War.
