Redo of an old unit, with sounds.

Tripod

A little video project I was working on last summer

When I initially did the run animation last summer, I wasn't thinking about making it into a unit so I just went with the direction it was imported. Is it that important what direction the shadow is? I didn't even notice.

Great redo job. I never noticed the shadow and don't think it's that important to worry about.

Well its a redo because its a totally different model with much higher detail, so that neccesitated new animations too. I guess I can redo it again tonight to fix the shadow issues and a few other pixels.

Excellent, fun unit, Wyrm. One question: shouldn't the shadow be to the left of the unit's back leg (the sun comes from the right side of the screen, usually), or is the GIF reversed?

When standing next to another unit, it will look like it gets light from another sun, but this could work in a SF scenario I guess :)

After taking a close look at the file and sun positions, you are both wrong. It's the same sun setup I've had with all of my units. ALL. I went back into the file and changed the orientation of the model and double checked the sun settings. NO CHANGE.

Guess which picture is the old one vs the new one? You can't.

Oh wow! Where the Bajezus did this come from (Answer: Mars)

Super cool unit, Wyrm.

I meant "compared to a unit by another creator". Could it be that your setting was wrong from the start ? Oops, sorry. I shouldn't have said that... I've watched some of your older units closely and it's not that obvious, but could be.

Respectfully: when I make my terrains, buildings, even the interface, the sun is always in the "east" (looking north, i.e. east is on the right side of the screen). That's why I have to horizontally flip all of the Sim City Building graphics that I use - because in Sim City 3000 the sun comes from the "west". A very good example of this is Kyriakos' cities, which have very deep shadows.

Now if I place my desk lamp to my right and make a little tripod with my fingers, the shadow extends off to the left, i.e., to the west, not to the north-east as the shadow of the Tripod appears to do. Actually, I imagine that it's always about ten o'clock in the morning in Civ world, so the shadows aren't exactly at right angles to the object.

yessssssssss.. but I'm not going to change the same settings I've used for 2000 units.
IOW, no one has complained about the settings until this unit. I'm not going to change, so unfortunately you're just going to have to live with it.

I love the ooze that leaks out after it dies! Nice touch!
