MjMNES IV - A Fresh Start

*cracks fingers*

After a few moments of counting the vote was complete. Do'or's plan have nearly succeeded. Yet the people were not interested in a long tedious war. The vote failed by no more than 3 voters. Do'or had to think everything through again. How will he wage his war without the council agreement?

The next vote was to install a new high general of the forces. Do'or was already out of the council, he had no intention of looking at another losing vote. The council remained as noisy as always. It will take a few days for the new general to take his place in the army.

Perhaps invading without the permission of the council? Do'or could not risk that. On his way to his villa he was stopped by another.

"Worry not Do'or. I'm still with you on this plan, and I got us the high general vote. It will only take a few days before the plan will work this time. Maair isn't here to stop us this time."
"And the army? Will it be prepared in time?"
"You can be relaxed. The high general is on your side."
"And the council vote on the war?"
"Will not be needed. The high general received the complete control over the armies. It won't be liked by our people, but this war can still go on."
"Good. Remember the plan. Only get what we need from this war, than leave. We need not cause trouble when it is not required."

Laachida

A Warrior of Lightning. That is what I am.

I am 12-Moon 2-Jaguar. My given name is Mictlu. I was born in the 3rd year of the Sun, the 42nd year of the 4th Calendar since the founding of Dainzu.

I serve under the command of Cocijo's Chosen Priest of War, 3-Lightning 19-Ocelot. I know him as Jaachila, and I could not hope to fight for a stronger or wiser warrior.

I did battle amongst his spearmen in the first war against the nearest of the Obsidian-People. Our neighbour the Obsidian-King had snubbed a delegation from the Priest-King 1-Crocodile 13-Lord Azotzl. As I understand now, their rejection stemmed from the great rains that struck both of our lands some five years ago. In the drought beforehand, the Obsidian-King had arranged for a grand sacrifice to Cocijo- though his people bestow upon him the rather unseemly name Chaac. In the aftermath of the flooding that washed away many of the farms of the Obsidian-King, he responded with great hostility towards the Priest-King's delegation, given their dedication to the Rain God who had wreaked so much destruction across his lands. I suspect that a wiser man would have sought spiritual counsel to determine why his offerings had displeased Cocijo, but instead of appeasing the sky, he chose to make a powerful earthly enemy in Azotzl. By rejecting the traders of Dainzu, he isolated us from the black glass obsidian- a most valuable material. Through this, he drew the fearsome ire of Azotzl.

Seeking to correct the grievous mistake of the Obsidian-King, Azotzl dispatched us, the Warriors of Dainzu, to do battle in response to this offense. We emerged blood-spattered and victorious, and the Obsidian-King and his warriors were sacrificed to bring peace back to his lands. The nearest lands of the Obsidian people fell into the control of Dainzu, and all was well once again.

And now, we return. Dainzu has extended its aegis further over these hilly lands in recent years, having defeated and displaced many of the hostile chiefs of the Obsidian-People, while allying and co-opting many more. Azotzl has willed it that we are to bring the Cloud-People and Obsidian-People together, and so Jaachila and his forces, myself included, march along the same well-trodden paths once more.

I see many familiar places, and our delegation greets and is greeted by many of the villages along the way. I stand firm and unyielding, clad in my robe and mask of the Rain God, its blue headdress rustling in the wind. My broad, carved sword and shield are held strongly yet calmly in my hands. Those who travel with us offer gifts and proclamations from Dainzu to the leaders of these villages, and will continue to do so as long as our march goes on.

I am Laachida- a chosen warrior of the Storm God. I am prepared to fight and be sacrificed for my city of Dainzu, although I quietly hope that I shall survive to great age before death takes me. This hope, I feel, shall soon be tested. While our travels thusfar have been peaceful, we will soon approach the wild lands beyond the suzerainty of Azotzl. There, it will be my duty, along with my fellow warriors, to display the full power and formidability of Dainzu, so that these people will join us by choice. Success is imperative- if we fail and are rebuffed, then we will instead be joined together in bloodshed.

I can only pray for all of my strength, and trust in the wisdom of our emissaries. The wisest men knows that the greatest victories are those won without the need for warfare.

With this knowledge, I am calmed. I whisper to myself.

I am as the cloud,

I bring prosperity and health in peace,

But I strike as lightning.

Here are some of the stories that MjM alone has been privy to on account of me including them in my orders:

A Tuntun State?

Spoiler :
Nationalism today bears many negative connotations as a result of the crimes against humanity committed in the name of a state. Increasingly, political historians are looking further and further back for explanations of this human phenomenon, and some even cite the political developments in the early Tuntun 'states' as a classical example of nationalism gone wrong.

First things first, we cannot mistakenly give the early Tuntun peoples a state of any kind. Such a concept could not have possibly existed in their minds, and as later Tuntun sources point out the prevailing mindset largely was 'Us' vs 'Them'. Us began as the Tuntun as a whole. Any man, woman, or child who could play a game of Tizia and carried the customary stone Olec was a Tuntun; everyone else was an enemy. Beginning with the Itlopa A'axaca in roughly 500BCE we see the Tuntun beginning to look outwards, but still this antagonistic mindset persisted. However, it shifted.

The rise of Tunte and Tuntitlan threatened the dominance of Tontua, the first Tuntun 'city'. The northern Tuntun clans banded together and created their own religious and commercial centers, citing the difficulties involved with always having to travel south to Tontua for the smallest of events. The southern clans attempted to follow suit, but their efforts were quickly stopped by a combination of hostile nomadic tribes and the utter brutality of Itlopa A'axaca and her predecessors. So while the south remained firmly in Tontua's hands, the north was the home of two almost separate states.

As northern Tuntun ceased their monthly travels to Tontua they began to see the southern city as a 'Them'. Though they acknowledged that the clans around Tontua were very much Tuntun, they could not help but begin to see otherness as a result of less frequent contant. This combined with the vast biodiversity of Central America that saw the creation of wholly different lifestyles in relatively small distances made the north-south divide all the more apparent..."
~Intro to Rudger P. Habbershon's "Nationalists Without Nations; An Exploration of City States in Classical Central America"

*Note that this essay has been widely criticized for its attempt to enforce modern mindsets into ancient societies.

Terror South of Yaxtua?
Spoiler :
My child, let me tell you of a time long past and most crucial to the history of our people. Long after the stars blinked into existence, long after the sun burned the sky blue, long after the moon locked our world in her embrace man was born. These men were malformed beings, being without the Gods and these men are out eldest ancestors. They lived in the same fields, jungles, and scrubs we live in now, but they lived lives free of Tuntun whips.

Indeed, child, once we were free, if you can imagine it. Our lives were dark, not knowing the true face of the Gods, but happy nonetheless. We lived in small villages that knew no kings, but then again, we did not need them. Occasionally we would walk great distances north to the Tuntun city of Yaxtua, the only place our masters' ancestors would allow us to trade. Even then the Tuntun regarded us art-less people as savage and far lesser than they.

One day the Tuntun Queen A'axaca invited a great number of our people into Yaxtua's markets, calling for a feast to be had and merriment to be made. We obliged, ignorant of her dark reasons behind the unusual generosity. Once we had our fill of food and were drunk on Inco the treacherous Queen came among our peoples and called us bad guests who had violated their guest-rights. Immediately we said otherwise, but A'axaca told us we had consumed Takas, food only meant for the Gods. In our haste we had not noticed that the bad Queen had slipped her own people's sacred food into the food served to our naive ancestors. Shamed, our ancestors tried to pay their fine for the affront, but Queen A'axaca would have nothing less than our lives, the lives of our children, and the lives of our children's children, and so on so forth until the end of time...

IT 1 Update 2 490 - 480 BCE

It is not known what got into the people of the world between 490 and 480 BCE, but there was much bloodshed. Much bloodshed indeed.

Domestic and International Events

The Tuntun begin construction of the Temple of Ixca, using their newfound slaves from the south. [see Military Events] This temple is sure to bring the Tuntun closer together in political cohesion and unity, as the temple shows both the greatness of Itolpa A’axaca and the three Gods of Star, Sun and Moon that the Tuntun cities follow. The temple also forges a greater physical connection between the three cities, as pilgrims from each city will surely go there.

(Temple of Ixca begun)

With the complete subjugation of the Obsidian-People through both shows of power and gifts, and other means [see Military Events] the Dainzu control nearly every source of obsidian known to them and trbies in the neighboring regions. Control of this good increases the profitibality of Dainzu trade. Obsidian is much sharper than stone, and tipping the weapons with it has proven to be much more effective, and as such, is a highly sought after trade item.

(+1 Dainzu Trade)

The Melalui and Mycin continue their profitable trade ventures. The Melalui begin to substantially improve the efficency of their road system (and to a lesser extent, so do the Mycin), and to much success. There is another curious development happening in Melalui lands; rudimentary systems of writing are beginning to develop. Profitable trade merchants are having a hard time keeping track of all their ventures, so a system of pictograms is beginning to develop to aid them in record keeping. This system is beginning to catch on outside of trading as well, the Council is beginning to use it to keep track of past and current members alongside traditional oral methods.

(+1 Melalui Education)

The Tyravians begin constructing their temple to the Sea God. The project is expected to bring increased cohesion as well as attract more followers to their gods of Creation.

(Temple to Sea God begun)

The Western Mediterranean is thrown into turmoil, with the recent Sademoni-Rakan war [see Military Events], increased pirating in the area, and general confusion and disarray. Trade is largely hurt as a result…

(-1 Trade for Tyravus, Raka, Numidia, Hanakai, Clusium and Sademon)

Numidian naval expeditions are undertaken, and small colonies are established on theMajorca [1] islands and on the European mainland. However, with the turmoil of the Sademoni-Rakan war [see Military Events] as well as increased pirating in the area, these settlements aren’t as large as the Numidian king would have hoped. Still, they are there. There are fierce barbaric people on the mainland colony however, and without a large garrison, it is sure to be overrun.

The Clusium league has scored an impressive victory over the natives in the remaining southern areas of the Italian peninsula [see Military Events], and from this increased conquering has come great increases to their economy in the form of new arable land, and the construction of new settlements to consolidate their control over the area.

(+1 Base economy for Clusium)

The Kingdom of Cyrenaica begins to expand it’s internal infrastructre as well as building new academies for Greek intellectuals to come to. The culture of Cyrenaica is still largely influenced by their northern cousins on the Greek peninsula. This influx of population from the peninsula as well as improved farming techniques causes a population boom, increasing general happiness in the area.

(+1 Cyrenaica Confidence)

The Eastern Mediterranaen is also in turmoil as well [see Military Events] and as such, trading routes here are also in jeporady, although not nearly to the extent as they are in the Western Mediterranean.

(-1 Trade for Koyunlu)

The Dardanians seemed to have disappeared from recorded history. The less civilized tribes around them have all but destroyed their attempt at civilization, and ransacked everything in sight.

(-Dardania) [2]

The Lycians experience a confidence boost due to the overwhelming success in their recent war [see Military Events], as do their allies, the Tianot.

(+1 Confidence for Tianot and Lycia)

The Tianotian priests begin to write down the Lhusum, or the Works of Heaven. Their impact and purpose will be expanded on in the future, it seems. [3]

The Rash’a Iguodala is seeing the emergence of their fourth caste. Those who are not slave farmers, warriors, or priests, are included in this fourth caste. Merchants, officials, artisans – all are included in this fourth caste. This class is usually more educated than the others, and are also extremely economically important, almost as much so as the farmers.

(Fourth Caste COMPLETE)

Rash’a Iguodala also undertake an ambitiuous levee and daming project. Although they are basic right now, this system of dams can serve to greatly expand the efficency of Rash’a Iguodala farmlands in the future. It is a step in the right direction. Also, a rather important shrine to Andre’ Iguodala, completed by the fourth caste, seems to improve overall morale.

(+1 Rash’a Iguodala Confidence)

The Tianotian missionaries are allowed, for the first time ever, into Rash’a Iguodalan lands. It is the beginning of a better relationship between the two people, and the new fourth caste does have some members who have seen worship of Ossnoss and ancestory as valid, although Andre’ Iguodala is still, by far, the most revered deity in the land.

Retokimas mining efforts are finally beginning to pay off, with a large gold deposit found in the northern hills. This also brings in an influx of migrants, mostly fleeing from Koyunlu lands, although some coming from other places.

(+1 Manufacturing for Retokimas, +1 Population for Retokimas)

The Narmurians once again send an expedition to across the Red Sea, this time with funding and troops, however. A colony is establish at one of the larger mapped out oases found on the previous expedition, and it as it develops, it will serve well as a trading port location.

The Wuesha (large school of arts) is completed in Daragi lands. It draws intellectual minds from across the ancient world.

(The Wuesha COMPLETE)

The Milnarid Empire is beginning to sort out it’s internal problems. To begin with, internal infrastructre is beginning to become more efficient, much like the glory days of the older empire. This has helped jumpstarted the stagnated Milnarid economy. Noble rebellions are becoming less common [see Military Events] especially after the succession of Milnar IV. The young, charismatic warrior, Mirād is named Regent Successor of the Emperor, effictively becoming the new Emperor. Milnar IV could care less personally, as he is too busy spending his time in his lavish court, partaking in drink and food, song and dance, day after day. He was relocated, so he can do this without the public eye on him. He was not fit to become an emperor in the eyes of many, and how he did so was a grave injustice indeed.

The ever popular Gerirgas is named First of the Nifmarin, effectively the new emperor’s head advisor and co-ruler, in a sense. He shares many of the same powers, and has much influence. A few nobles decided to revolt, yet again, as did the very few still loyal to the ex-Emperor Milnar IV [see Military Events], however, they are largely negilible. The implementation of the Bannermen is in full effect, also, to Mirād’s satisfaction, being taken rather well. The vast majority of the Milnarid Empire is happy to see a competent ruler, and although Gerirgas has retired in 480 BCE, his pupil, Mirād, is highly competent. Many are hailing him as the new Araad II. Gerirgas succesor as the First of the Nifmarin is named Varašir, and is also popular.

(+2 Milnarid Empire Confidence, The Bannermen COMPLETE, Economy from Stagnating to Slowly Growing)

The Songtu begin construction of The Pantheon of the Kohans which will surely bring awe to the nonbelievers around them. Also, improved farming techniques and irrigation canals are proving to be largely succesful.

(+1 Base Songtu Economy, The Pantheon of the Kohans begun)

In Kaiguo, the Eunuchs are beginning to become commonplace. They are neutered males, who have increased efficency since their sex drive is absent. They make perfect government clerks, really.

(Eunuchs COMPLETE)

Military Events

Dog-People, as the Tuntun call them, have disgraced the Tuntun people at a ceremonial feast hosted by the Tuntun, or so the Itolpa maintains. Nevertheless, the end result is the same. The Tuntun invade Dog-People lands and begin esnlaving them for this injustice. Naturally, the Dog-People resisted, rather fiercely. However, the Tuntun warriors are more numberous then that of the Dog-People, and subduded them within a few years time. The entirity of the Dog-People have been enslaved, and have been used for such things as the construction of the Temple of Ixca.

(-6 Tuntun Hundreds)

The Dainzu assemble their warriors once more, this time with the Laachida, or lightning warriors, at the head of this attack. Many Obsidian-People chose to join the Dainzu outright, for the wars between the Cloud-People and Obsidian-People in the past did not fare well for the Obsidian-People. However, the more stubborn warriors of the Obsidian-People did still fight, although the Laachida made short work of them with their excellent weaponry and elite training.

(-1 Dainzu Laachida Hundred)

The Mycin people begin to raid lands south of them. Instead of outright conquering them, they instead kill the warriors and strip the lands of anything of value. This has served well to also demoralize any other barbarians near the Mycin people.

(-2 Mycin Hundreds)

The Sademoni military is a mighty one. It isn’t actually Sademoni, far from it. Yes, there are a few Sademonians in it, but they are not the majority. There isn’t a clear majority. The Sademoni military is comprised of Numidian riders, Culusium light infantry, Greek heavy infantry, you name it. They all come together to fight for Sademon for one reason; they pay extremely well, and have always done so. The Sademonians were not content with their expansion in Italy, which there is actually no room any longer. Instead, they turn their sights on Raka, especially the great port city of Ekdhan, rivaling the great city of Sademon itself.

Rakans, as far as the Sademonians though, had no idea of this attack. As such, they thought it was going to be extremely easy for them. In fact, this was not the case. Somehow, Rakan generals knew of this attack before it was coming, an entire season before. It was because of this, they made preparations. The military trained, the walls of Ekdhan were expanded, and they waited. They waited for the attack they knew was coming. They prepared as well as they could.

The Sademonian fleet set out for Ekdhan, with a force about roughly equal to that of the Rakans, although their military was a much better trained, battle hardened force. The Rakans realized that their navy was outnumbered, so they did not intercept the Sademoni, instead, they let them land a few miles short of Ekdhan, letting them think it was still a surprise attack. The Sademonian force landed, and proceeded to march toward Ekdhan. The Rakan army was waiting, both in the city, and behind the Sademonians, a great battle ensued.

The Sademonians were surprised to see the Rakan force waiting for them, only a few miles northeast of Ekdhan. However, the force seemed to be only around half the size of the Sademonian one, and they were expected to make quick work of them. The Sademonian lines begin to charge forward, especially the cavalry. The Rakan light cavalry retreated slightly, as to draw them away. As the two cavalry forces skirmished, the main Sademonian force began to advance for the Rakans. As they drew near, the Rakans charged over the hills, in astounding numbers. Levies had been raised, and the newly recruited Numidians also rode over the hills, encircling the Sademonian force. The cavalries of both nations were still fighting, nearly a mile away, and the Sademoni cavalry had no idea what was happening to the main force. The Sademonians held their ground, and the Rakans attacked. Even though they weren’t as battle hardened, they outnumbered the Sademonians greatly. The Sademonians began to fall in great numbers, as did the Rakans. The Rakan generals did notice that the Sademonian calvary was returning, although with nearly a third of the numbers it had before the battle began. The Rakans had no choice but to withdraw from their attack of the Sademonians, although the damage had been done. Massive Sademonian casaulties were inflicted, and the invasion had failed. The Sademonian forced was not totally decimated, but it was not able to maintain a foothold in Rakan lands, and had no choice but to retreat back to Sademon, humiliated and in defeat. The Rakan navy pursued, although after a largely inconclusive naval battle, it seemed it would be best to let them retreat.

When news of this blunder reached the ruling families, they were outraged. The common people were as well. It seems a renewed campaign will be very hard, with the farming majority almost in open revolt because of having to supply this failed war. The Merchant class refuses to supply this war as well, resulting in the loss of their support in this war.

Meanwhile, amidst this Sademoni-Rakan war, the Rash’a Iguodala have their own plans. Operating out of Rakan ports, they have begun to raid Western Mediterranean shipping, which also counts for much of the trade lost throughout the region, as well as the contempt of the merchant class in Sademon. The experienced Rash’a sailors use this to their advantage, and have had a lot of success raiding the shipping, with only few losses.

(-3 Rash’a Iguodalan Ships, -4 Sademoni Ships, -6 Tyravian Ships, -2 Numidian Ships, -3 Clusmite Ships, -2 Hanakai Ships)

The Hanakai and Veneti have long had tense relations, and they finally came to a head when the Hanakai attacked. The Veneti decided that instead of engaging them in the open, they would retreat to their capital, and force them to attack them there. What they did not expect, was the simeultaneous Clusmite invasion in the South. With this development, the Veneti were all but doomed. The Clusmites slaughtered them en masse, while the Hanakai had a bit more trouble. They still won however, sustaining heavy casaulties.

(-4 Clusmite Hundreds, -Veneti, -18 Hanakai Hundreds +1 Hanakai Base Economy)

The Clusium League began an extensive campaign to their South. Intimidated by the foreign presence of both the Tianot and Sademoni on the South of the peninsula, they were determined to take what they believed to be rightfully their’s. The natives of the peninsula had no chance against the overwhelming numbers of the Clusmites, and were destroyed. The Clusmites did suffer large losses though, from such extensive campaigning. However, they are becoming more battle hardened as a result.

(-31 Clusmite Hundreds, +1 Military Training for Clusium, +1 Area and Population for Clusium)

In addition to the war of the west, the Eastern Mediterranean is also seeing it’s own war, arguably a much larger one..

It all begin with Koyunlu advancement into their neighboring city-states lands. Bithynia fared well agaisnt the Koyunlu, managing not to get completely conquered. Pamphylia did not fare so well. They were overrun and subjugated by the Koyunlu. Lycia, the only remaining unmolested city-state, feared this would happen to it as well. The people banded together like never before, and become more centralized. Lycia reached out to Tianot for help, maintaining that if they were conquered, the last real roadblock to Koyunlu aggression in the area, surely Tianot colonies in southern Anatolia would be next. The Tianotians realized this was true, and an alliance was born.

Instead of waiting to be attacked, Lycia and Tianot launched their attack. The Lycians attacked first, much to the dismay of the Koyunlu. Their entire army was in the north, attempting to finally subdue Bithynia. This would turn out to be a tragic mistake, as there was nothing stopping the Lycians in their relentless advance. The Lycians reclaimed the capital of Pamphylia, and continued their march east. Once the entire city-state of Pamphylia was reconquered, they turned north into Koyunlu proper. By this time, the Koyunlu army had retreated from Bithynia and made there way back down south. However, the Tianotians struck.

They landed and took the port city on the Koyunlu southern coast, and proceeded to march northwest, and link up with the Lycian force. They met very little resistance along the way, mostly in the form of disorganized levy troops. The exhausted Koyunlu army, from force marching all the way here, now had to fight a large land battle, possibly the largest the Meditterranean world had ever seen. The Lycian-Tianotian force struck first, with the more battle-hardened and experienced Lycians engaging head on. The more mobile Tianotian force flanked the Koyunlu, and a massacre occurred. What remained of the Koyunlu army marched north to their capital of Katan. After a short seige, the capital fell. To make matters even worse, the Bithynians seized their opportunity to counter-invade the Koyunlu. The situation is looking dire for Koyunlu indeed.

(-24 Lycian Hundreds, -11 Tianotian Hundreds , -5 Tianotian Levy Hundreds, -15 Koyunlu Hundreds, +61 Koyunlu Levy Hundreds, -48 Koyunlu Levy Hundreds 1 EP to both Lycia and Tianot in the form of captured wealth -10 Koyunlu Ships, -2 Tianotian Ships, Koyunlu Economy from Growing to Failing)

The Rash’a Iguodala subdue the few New Khambatians left resisting in the fringe desertlands on either side of the Nile. More troops died to harsh conditions then actually fighting rebels.

(-2 Rash’a Iguodala Hundreds)

The few nobles in the Milnarid Empire that did revolt were crushed more easily than last time. They were not able to rally nearly as much support, and the Sōsin are seen in a much more favorable light now.

(6 Hundreds defected to noble lords and killed, -2 Sōsin Hundreds)

A generalized map of the cultures surrounding the Cloud-People of Dainzu.

Key

Zapotecs

Cloud-People are the inhabitants of Dainzu and its surrounding environs, and presently one of the dominant powers of Mesoamerica. They are loose polytheists who worship Cocijo in particular as the patron of their city, and speak the Diidxaza dialect of the Zapotec Language.

Cotton-People are the inhabitants of [OTL Monte Alban], known best for their large agricultural output and populous temple city dedicated to Coquihani, Zapotec God of Light. They speak the Didxsaj dialect of the Zapotec Language, which is mutally intelligible with Diidxaza.

Toltecs

Reed-People are a highly settled people on the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico. Major traders between north and south, this civilization has developed some of the finest artisanry and architecture of the region, although they lack the political unity that has allowed several other developed cultures to become politically powerful. The Reed-People speak an odd collection of languages that incorporate elements of Mixtec, Wastek Mayan and the alien languages of the northern interior of Mesoamerica.

Mixtecs

Stone-People are part of a widespread and moderately developed, but disunited culture. A variety of languages are spoken across their lands, all of them belonging to the Mixtecan family, which is a close, but unintelligible relative of the Zapotec Languages spoken by more settled cultures to their east.

Mayans

Feather-People are the lowland Maya. Architecturally proficient and lightly-settled, the Feather-People speak a wide variety of dialects of Yucatec Mayan. They have constructed some of the highest densities of Temple-Cities to be found in Mesoamerica, but internicine warfare and comparitively recent arrival in the region has put a stopper on their continued development.

Obsidian-People are the highland Maya. Longer-settled but lesser in population than their lowland bretheren, they speak Quichean dialects of Mayan, a broad diversity of tongues reflecting the geographic fragmentation of their lands by mountains.

Concrete and well-written update, MjM. :)

That went surprisingly well.

MjM; I was surprised to see Rash'a Qobe pirates raid from Ekdhan. Was that due to my invitation of them to the musical temple? Are these raids a repeated event (Many ships constantly sailing out of Ekdhan) or did they just sail out from that one invitation?

Levies, raised normal troops, and they did hear of your attack before it was coming, if that wasn't clear in the update.
How did they know I am invading? Did they transport to an alternate universe where this world is just a forum game and read my last story?

TO: Koyunlu

We offer you but one chance to see the truth path to heaven. Your empire is shattered, your military nonexistent and your economy will never recover, and it is for these reasons we extend a hand of friendship. We will allow the northern Koyunlu lands to remain free under the conditions that the southern half of your realms be surrendered outright to us and that the northern lands both convert and accept status as a vassal of the Tianotian Empire.

My stats are sad :/

Since you seem to know your stuff about mesoamerica, the region around the Tuntun is roughly the same region of the Aztecs/Toltecs, right?
Well, it's most likely to be some relative of the Teotihuacan Culture, since the Aztecs wouldn't arrive for another 1700ish years. Your area of Mesoamerica is actually comparitively poorly known- your ethnicity could be one of several. The most likely are Otomi and Totonac. While Otomi most closely resemble your geographic area, the name of the Totonac also seems vaguely similar to Tuntun.

It's quite likely that you're a multiethnic state, like Teotihuacan would later be.

At any rate, a good guide for languages can be found in these two maps, showing languages and cultures, which are quite consistent with each other. Keep in mind that speakers of Nahuatl (like the Aztecs) and other Uto-Aztecan languages have not arrived yet, unless something has triggered their migrations in from the deserts to the north over a millennium and a half early. ;)

My stats are sad :/

Stats mean nothing when you have STORY! :D

No, literally... take a look..
