BLOOD 4 OIL MOD

Install: Just extract the zip file and move into your mod folder

Changes:

Terrain:
-Terrain desert and snow now have 2 movement cost.

Civilizations:
-Egypt, Persia and Arabia start with trait "Holy War", giving them the "Jihad" promotion to make this states strong on desert terrain.

Units:
Made not to many changes, only some promotion changes to make a real "Desert Storm" experience:
-Promotion "Jihad": Start up attribute for the desert states, giving a 20% attack bonus in friendly territory and a 20% devense bonus on desert terrain. Also makes the movement cost to a normal level.
-Promotion "Desert Warfare": 20% combat bonus (attack and defense) on desert terrain, makes movement cost to 1, too. Preq. Tech ist "Military Science"
-Promotion "Winter Warfare": same as for "desert Warfare", only for snow terrain.
-Promotion "Composite Armour", giving the helicopter and tank units a 10% defense bonus (preq. tech is plastics).
-Promotion "Reactive Armour", giving an extra 10% defense bonus, but only for tank units.
-Changed preq. ressource from aluminum to oil at the modern age units to fit to the theme of this mod.

Buildings:
-Added building "Oil Refinery", giving 5 gold and 2 production to every nearby oil ressource.

Others:
-Raised the flavors for ressource oil, hoping this will force the AI to declare war for the black gold.

Hope you enjoy this mod :goodjob:

ummm...wow. wouldn't this be kinda offensive?

You mean the flavors of oil ressources?

I like it offensive ;)

To be honest:
Just checked that this mod is runnig well, no time for playing long, closed this project and started working on a big mod with lots of artwork and lots of changes. So made this mod back to a basic idea and throw the million ideas into my new project....

But the main idea was to raise the importance of oil for world domination and some more specialisation on the terrain for winnig a battle.
"You don't have special trained units for desert battle? - Forget it!"
If you look to the experiances the us army made the last years, it's realistic I think... :crazyeye:

I think he means "Holy War" and "Jihad" as the names of some of your stuff. You could come up with less loaded words that make sense for the same benefits.

Incidentally, I'm not so sure that desert fighting makes sense for Persia. They were a basically urban culture for much of their history, weren't they? They came from the middle east, but their influence was in Greece and parts of Eastern Europe, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, and India. They certainly fought battles in the desert, but I don't think Desert fighting defined them.

The people who were really comfortable in the desert are a relatively small number of Arab groups, like the Bedouin. You could thus make the trait "Bedouin Tribes", and give it both military and economic benefits in deserts (maybe military benefits in all desert tiles plus economic benefits from oases).

I have no idea as to whether Ancient Egypt was particularly adept at desert combat. Modern Egypt is an Arab nation as far as I'm aware, so is best represented by Arabia, not Egypt in-game.

A OK, political incorrect
Sounds hard but as you look at the iraque, a civilization not living on the sharia like iran or so, you see what happens. Once there is a foreign army in the country, Hussein called out the Holy War.

Fits I think, the idea was to make oil ressources hard to capture and all countries start up near to this ressources...

JUST TO MAKE SURE:
This is a (really sarcastic) parody of the world we live in, not playing down the cruel of war and does not make jokes about religions or any others!
